Inside a sealed room in the New York Sanctum, Mordo cursed as he furiously smashed everything around him. Things had gone completely beyond his expectations.
As he saw it, Kaecilius should have stolen the tome without a sound, studied it in secret, and finally sought revenge against Xia Zuo. That was how things were supposed to play out.
But he had never expected this turn of events. That fool Kaecilius had actually been brazen enough to kill the librarian outright and defect from Kamar-Taj, making such a huge uproar over the whole affair. He had not seen this coming.
"Damn it, how dare a mere insect act so brazenly? But I absolutely cannot let Kamar-Taj find Kaecilius first!"
Mordo spoke angrily. After calming down a little, he understood the situation he was in.
With the Sorcerer Supreme's unfathomable spells, if the people of Kamar-Taj found Kaecilius first, she would certainly be able to learn of his involvement from Kaecilius.

In the original, Kaecilius had only torn out the few pages from the Book of Cagliostro concerning the summoning of Dormammu. This time, however, he had stolen the entire tome. That was different from the original.
"Even the timing has moved so much earlier. It's only natural for the plot to diverge."
Xia Zuo made a self-deprecating remark. The current plot had already departed from the original timeline. According to the original story, there should still have been a long time before Kaecilius defected from Kamar-Taj, so some differences were only natural. There was nothing to make a fuss about.
As for why Xia Zuo had come to the London Sanctum, now that he fully remembered Kaecilius's identity, he naturally also remembered what Kaecilius had done after stealing the Book of Cagliostro.

This was inevitable. He could not possibly devote all his time to this. Who knew when Kaecilius would appear?
After setting up the alert spell, Xia Zuo conjured a circular golden ring of light and stepped straight into it. He intended to use this time to visit Matron Mary and Skye.
But just as Xia Zuo left, he sensed the alert spell being triggered!
Kaecilius had appeared!
