Xia Zuo used his Geass Eye to survive Hydra’s attack on the orphanage, defeat Whitehall, and destroy the Hydra base. The destruction awakened a powerful presence that drew Professor X and Jean Grey’s attention, but Xia Zuo had already vanished when they arrived.

• Xia Zuo discovered that his Ultimate Eye unlocked techniques through emotional changes, and he used Geass to control John Garrett and order him to kill Whitehall.
• Mary brought Skye to the orphanage, and Xia Zuo learned she was the future Quake while deciding to keep a low profile.
• After foreseeing the orphanage covered in blood, Xia Zuo sent Mary and the children away and set mirrors around the building.
• Whitehall sent more than two hundred Hydra soldiers to capture Xia Zuo, but Xia Zuo used mirrors and his Geass to turn the soldiers against one another.
• When S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived, Xia Zuo controlled Nick Fury into letting him leave, while his Hydra soldiers killed themselves to protect him.
• Xia Zuo confronted Whitehall at the Hydra base, learned the Scroll of Truth contained a map to Inhuman treasure, and killed him.

Xia Zuo entered Kamar-Taj to master magic, where his Copy Eyes let him rapidly learn and defeat its mages. After Kaecilius’s attack on the library, Xia Zuo uncovered Mordo’s role and lured him into a confrontation that the Ancient One witnessed.

• Professor X reached into Xia Zuo’s mind and invited him to Xavier’s School, but Xia Zuo used Geass to force him out and left to seek magical training.
• Xia Zuo entered Kamar-Taj despite Mordo’s objections, and the Ancient One allowed him to stay and read most of the library’s books.
• While studying, Xia Zuo unlocked his Copy Eyes, which let him analyze and copy magic, then defeated Kaecilius and all ten mages in a training match.
• Mordo encouraged Kaecilius to seek power, and Kaecilius later stole the Book of Cagliostro and attacked the London Sanctum.
• Xia Zuo killed Kaecilius, recovered the forbidden book, and learned from him that a black-robed figure had directed his crimes.
• Xia Zuo concluded Mordo had arranged the library attack and lured him into a fight, where Mordo admitted he would kill Xia Zuo and the Ancient One appeared as witness.
