After the last trace of spiritual energy and demon qi had been absorbed, a soft tapping sounded particularly clear in the silent night. It was the sound of the gosling tapping the inside of the shell with its beak.
Xue Fuyao and Big Treasure looked over at the same time and saw a fine crack appear on the flawless white shell.
As more and more cracks spread, a flat beak soon poked out of the shell. Then a golden-yellow gosling wriggled out, its down still wet.
After hatching, the gosling called twice to Xue Fuyao, then waddled unsteadily toward the fire.
