Xue Clan Origins

The Xue Clan’s ancestors originally lived on an endless snowfield. They later became a cultivation aristocratic clan before declining and establishing the Xue Kingdom’s imperial dynasty in the Mortal Realm. By Xue Fuyao’s lifetime, much of their older history had been forgotten 54 133 139.

Her mother’s identity remained unresolved even after investigation in her previous life. The possessions she left behind—including a Lotus Petal necklace, an enormous Storage Bag filled with Spirit Stones, and an appearance-changing hair ribbon—convinced Fuyao that she was not an ordinary woman. After meeting Bai Ze, Fuyao inferred that a woman he mentioned was an ancestor on her mother’s side 1 116.

Previous Life

Fuyao grew up as an unloved princess with little contact or affection for her father and siblings. After the dynasty fell, a maid betrayed her whereabouts to the rebels, forcing her into a life of flight. The Zhang Family repeatedly pursued her, even using her relatives’ remains to lure her out 1 4.

In the Cultivation Realm, her mediocre aptitude and the trouble surrounding the Zhang Family caused sects to reject her. She became a rogue cultivator, concealing her name and appearance and surviving from day to day. Gossip became her main hobby and supplied knowledge of opportunities she would later pursue after rebirth 5 7.

Her ordeals included capture by immortal traffickers and being sold to the Demon Realm. The Dark Guards died protecting her, and Zhang Yongqing’s relentless pursuit eventually drove her into the beast-tide siege in which she died 15 46 72.

Rebirth

Fuyao returned to a point three days before the rebels breached the imperial palace. She emptied the palace’s valuables and prepared her escape rather than repeating her former mistakes. Although initially describing her imperial relatives as strangers, she later ordered the Dark Guards to recover their bodies rather than leave them exposed 1 4.

Her improved circumstances did not erase the consequences of her lineage. She eventually learned that the Zhang Family’s rebellion had been motivated by an attempt to obtain something belonging to the Xue Clan, rather than simply a desire to seize the throne 54.

Repeated persecution makes her cautious rather than eager for open confrontation. She divides valuables between storage items, hides her true aptitude and realm, and assesses opponents before deciding whether to fight, scheme, or seize a treasure and flee. Even with exceptional talent, she deliberately slows her advancement to strengthen her foundation 7 15 27 68 168.

She is fiercely loyal to those she considers her own. The Dark Guards represent continuity, companionship, and protection from the loneliness of her previous life. She also refuses to undermine Gu Nian and the others by intervening when they retaliate on her behalf 105 167 168.

Her loyalty coexists with extreme ruthlessness toward enemies. She regards unresolved persecution from her previous life as karma to settle, kills rather than relying on an enemy’s promised cooperation, and refuses to excuse members of the Zhang Family solely because they share her blood 38 82 266.
