Shattered Star vanished from Xue Fuyao's hand, and a hammer gleaming with a metallic luster appeared in its place.
In the blink of an eye, Xue Fuyao appeared above the blue octopus and raised the hammer high. The instant it fell, it grew enormous and slammed viciously into the blue octopus, smashing both it and the strange fish into the earth.
She did not know whether she had imagined it, but the instant the hammer landed, she actually heard a distinctly humanlike scream.
After retrieving the hammer, Xue Fuyao eyed the sticky stuff clinging to it with some distaste. I'll have to give it a thorough wash later.
Only then did she look at the strange fish. Half its body had been dismembered and smashed into the earth, while the exposed half had been battered into a bloody mess. The blue octopus on its head had been flattened into a blue pancake, the golden rings on its skin completely gone. It lay spread across the ground in a thin, motionless layer, as though thoroughly dead.

Xue Fuyao was not surprised by this. After all, octopuses were like snakes: even after being killed, their bodies could still move for a short time, just like this.
Some snakes could even still attack people with their severed heads after being decapitated.
