Xue Fuyao took a plate of pastries out of her Storage Bag, planning to eat while she waited.
Perhaps the pastries smelled too good, for not long after she brought them out, the Mutant Spirit Mouse's nose twitched, and then it slowly opened its beady eyes.
Perhaps because they had formed a contract, the Mutant Spirit Mouse, which had only just reached four stars, was not frightened by Xue Fuyao beside it. Instead, it gave two friendly squeaks, its eyes constantly drifting toward the pastries in her hand.
The Mutant Spirit Mouse raised its upper body and habitually rubbed its cheeks with its front paws. When it touched its deflated cheeks, it visibly froze, a trace of bewilderment flashing through its eyes, as though it did not understand why everything it had hidden inside its cheeks had disappeared.

The Mutant Spirit Mouse tilted its head and decided not to dwell on such a problem, one that could make a mouse tear its fur out. Mainly, the fragrance of the pastries before it was simply too tempting. It had never smelled anything so wonderful.
Xue Fuyao watched all its reactions, thinking that it really was just a little Spirit Beast.
She pushed the pastries over in front of it and said, "Go ahead and eat."
At that, the Mutant Spirit Mouse immediately pounced happily on one of the pastries.
