After arriving at the waystation, Xue Fuyao received some rather unwelcome news.
"I'm terribly sorry. Too many people have come to our waystation for supplies and rest lately, and all our rooms are full. If you want to rest, you'll have to make do outside."
The waystation manager spoke with an apologetic expression.
At his words, Xue Fuyao glanced around. Sure enough, she saw plenty of people, along with quite a few carriages parked outside, and knew the manager was not lying.
"Is your waystation always this busy?" she asked curiously.
The manager gave an apologetic smile. "Not at all. Our waystation has always been quiet. Although people often come here to spend the night, they usually don't stay long. But for some reason, so many people arrived all at once this time, and even after staying for nearly half a month, they show no sign of leaving."
Hearing this, Xue Fuyao fell into thought. She looked toward the rolling mountain ranges in the distance and, as though something had occurred to her, said, "If I remember correctly, your waystation is near Consort Ming Mountain."
"That's right." The manager nodded. "Our waystation is indeed close to Consort Ming Mountain."
Then the manager suddenly leaned closer and asked quietly, "Do you happen to know why these people have come here?"
At that, Xue Fuyao suddenly smiled and waved a hand. "How could I possibly know? I just think those people's behavior seems a little deliberate. Since the waystation is near Consort Ming Mountain, perhaps they've come for something on the mountain.
