The Aria oscillator, the task force's futile struggle in desperation
There was no explosion, no fire, not even the slightest audible sound.
The moment Crossbones slammed down the Scarlet button at the center of the "Aria" vibrator, it was as if all sound had been sucked away from the world.
An invisible, terrifying ripple, imperceptible to human senses, suddenly spread out from the small metal disc like a pebble thrown into a calm lake!
"Ugh--Ahhhhh!"
The first to scream was Wolverine, who had just ripped an agent open with his claws.
His seemingly tireless body, supported by Adamantium skeleton, suddenly stiffened, then, as if struck on the head by an invisible giant hammer, he staggered backward uncontrollably.
His numb, empty eyes were instantly filled with extreme pain.
A pain far exceeding the tearing of flesh, like millions of red-hot Steel Needles, frantically drilled into his brain from his ear canals, his nasal cavity, and his eye sockets! The feeling was as if someone was using a high-speed rotating electric drill to frantically stir the inner wall of his skull, trying to grind his brain matter into a lump of scalding paste!
"Uh... Hehe..."
Wolverine collapsed to his knees in agony, clutching his head tightly with both hands. His Adamantium claws snapped back and forth uncontrollably, leaving deep, bone-revealing gashes on his scalp. But his unparalleled healing factor, instead of providing relief, seemed to fuel the flames of pain. His nerves were torn apart and healed, only to be torn apart again, amplifying the torment a thousandfold!
Next up was Storm, hovering in mid-air.
Her White Light eyes trembled violently, and the arcs of electricity surrounding her instantly went out of control, scattering wildly like exploding fireworks. A stray bolt of lightning struck the exterior wall of a nearby building, blasting away large chunks of concrete.
"Um!"
Ororo let out a painful groan, as if her connection to the sky had been forcibly severed by an invisible pair of scissors. She plummeted straight down from the sky, crashing onto the hard street with a "thud," her body curled up and convulsing violently, her long white hair scattered in the dust.
Shadowcat had just emerged from the wall, her innocent smile still lingering on her face, when her body suddenly froze. Her Phase Shift ability instantly failed, leaving half her body stuck in the concrete wall, emitting a teeth-grinding "creaking" sound as her bones were squeezed.
The Carnage came to an abrupt end.
Those Mutants had been reaping lives like Coldblood hounds just moments before were now, without exception, lying on the ground. Some were rolling around clutching their heads, some were curled up in convulsions, and some were emitting shrill, inhuman howls.
The "Aria" oscillator, a secret weapon developed by S.H.I.E.L.D..'s top scientists at great expense to specifically counter Mutants, now revealed its ferocious and terrifying power!
"It's... it worked! Captain! It worked!"
The last remaining STRIKE member, witnessing this Hell reversal, spoke with a voice filled with the ecstatic joy and trembling of someone who had survived a catastrophe.
Crossbones gasped for breath, his chest heaving like a broken bellows. He looked at the "monster" rolling on the ground, then at the corpse of his companion lying in a pool of blood beside him. The relief of surviving the ordeal was quickly replaced by overwhelming hatred and a chilling killing intent.
"Works?" He spat out a mouthful of bloody saliva, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Wolverine struggling on the ground. "This is just the beginning!"
"Change to armor-piercing rounds! Aim for their heads! Send these bastards... all of them to Hell!"
Crossbones ' roar acted like a shot of adrenaline, instantly waking up the two remaining team members.
They were no longer terrified, no longer hesitant. All emotions faded from their faces, leaving only the absolute calm and efficiency befitting elite warriors.
"Click!"
The crisp sound of a magazine being changed echoed through the deathly silent street.
"Target 'wolverine,' head! Fire!"
One of the team members knelt on the ground, steadily setting up his rifle, the crosshairs of the scope locked firmly on Wolverine's head, which was shaking in pain.
"Target ' Storm ', kill confirmed!"
Another team member pointed his gun at Ororo, who was lying motionless on the ground not far away.
The counterattack from the brink of Extremis has begun!
This was their only chance! A fleeting opportunity bought with the lives of ten top agents!
However, just a second before the trigger was pulled.
Standing in the shadows of the street corner, Jean Grey, who hadn't moved an inch from beginning to end, slowly and impatiently frowned.
The morbid pleasure and cruelty that belonged to the "Warden" had vanished from her face.
Instead, there was a cold, offended, and extreme anger.
fail.
These "hunting dogs" she had personally selected proved to be utterly helpless against a few mere human rats.
This is simply... an insult to her, the Warden! And a desecration of the supreme master who sits upon the Throne!
She couldn't tolerate it.
She absolutely could not tolerate that her first "performance" in front of her master would have such a low-level and ugly flaw!
These mortals, these lowly insects, how dare they rebel? How dare they even attempt to destroy their master's "assets"?
Unforgivable.
Jean Grey didn't even bother to look at Crossbones and his two teammates who were preparing for a final struggle.
Her gaze, cold and tinged with disgust, fell upon the Mutants execution squad whom she had forcibly branded with the mark of "obedience" using the Phoenix Force.
Especially... the man whose limbs were pierced by Hela's Night Sky Sword, who was now lying in a pool of blood, whimpering in pain under the interference of sound waves.
Scott Summers Summers.
Former leader of the X-Men.
In Qin's eyes, that Dark Gold flame flashed and disappeared in an instant.
Her voice, not emanating from her mouth, poured directly into Scott Summers's chaotic Mental World, filled with pain and noise, like molten iron.
"Waste."
"They can't even get rid of a few bugs."
"You, do you even deserve to be a part of the master's collection?"
