Inside the building, Peter ran along, securing fallen metal frames to the walls with webs.
"Anyone there? Can you hear me?"
"Here!"
"Help!"
Peter rushed onto the second floor and pulled two security guards out from behind a pile of materials. With a sweep of webbing, he sent them straight into a makeshift net outside the window.
"Hold on tight! Don't let go!"
On the next floor down, someone was trapped beside the elevator shaft.
Peter jumped down, clinging to the wall with one hand and pulling the person out with the other.
The AI in his mask kept warning him about structural risks.
"Right-side load-bearing column damaged."
"Falling debris overhead."
"Insufficient external pulling force."
Peter took a breath.
"I know, I know. You don't have to announce every little thing. You're stressing me out."
The AI dutifully continued its alerts.
"Mr. Stark has received the alert."
Peter froze mid-motion.
"Wait, what?"
Meanwhile, Chen Mo was still wrestling with the building.
His feet had carved two furrows in the ground, and strand after strand of webbing stretched to its limit.
Several livestreaming devices were still running.
A drone camera circled him, trying to get a close-up.
Chen Mo glanced up.
"Come any closer, and I'll put you in a construction safety training presentation."
The drone sensibly flew a little farther away.
The live chat had already exploded.
[Two Spider-Men?!]
[Red-and-blue and black know each other!]
[Were they arguing just now?]
[Who's the black Spider-Man?]
[How many spiders does New York have?!]
[Spider-Man really missed our party because he was off saving the world? I missed Spider-Man!]
Whoever had posted that last comment, it was quickly buried.
Peter swung out of the building, carrying a child who was crying in fright.
