"Bad evening, big bat."
Batman stood at the other end of the rooftop.
"Hand over what you took from A-19."
Chen Mo glanced at his forearm. Half of the red Route Card was still sealed beneath the webbing, with only a small corner showing.
"Could you start by asking how my night's been?"
"Nico and that accountant are alive."
The white eye lenses on Chen Mo's face went still.
"Where are they?"

"You were chasing the armored truck."
"You knew?"
"Nico recognized A-19."
Batman held out a hand to him.
"The route."
Chen Mo did not move.
"Those two first," he said. "What are they doing at the police station?"
"Receiving protection and being questioned."
"And after the questioning?"
"They drove for the mob, kept their books, and concealed cargo."
"I didn't ask what they did. I asked where they go after they leave the police station."
Batman lowered his hand.
"That's their choice."
"Sounds so free."
Chen Mo walked to the edge of the rooftop and glanced down at the street below.
"If Nico doesn't go back, Penguin's car needs a new driver. If the accountant doesn't go back, his job's gone too. They worked for the mob. Investigate them if they should be investigated, lock them up if they should
