The Batmobile burst out of the Manor's underground passage.
Its rear swung through the snow. The red dot in the old drainage corridor was still blinking on the screen. After leaving Wayne Manor, the tracker hadn't headed into the neighborhoods. Instead, it had followed an old freight line south.
Still unable to stop thinking about the super-duper, invincible, ultra-cool, wonderful thunder bat dinosaur, Chen Mo clung to the grab handle beside the passenger seat, glanced twice at the screen, then looked out through the windshield.
"You've really got a rich network of underground routes in Gotham. Traffic jams aboveground, commuting underground. Even assassins get a dedicated route home from work."
Batman didn't answer.
That was very Batman of him.
His home had just been attacked, his mechanical dinosaur's leg was still broken, and his own heavy armor was covered in blade marks, yet he could still drive like he was heading in to clock on at work.
Chen Mo reached up and pressed the bridge of his mask, leaving a small crease that Venom quickly smoothed away.
"I have a question."
"Go ahead."
"Once your dinosaur's fixed, can I book a proper test drive?"
"No."
"You answered too fast. You didn't even show any respect for the customer's needs."
The Batmobile turned onto the old dock road.
An old waterfront building stood ahead. Owls were carved atop its stone pillars, and windblown snow hung beneath its portico. The front door was half open, with lights on inside.
The tracking signal had stopped inside the building.
Batman got out.
Chen Mo jumped out after him into the snow, stepped on a thin patch of ice, and nearly slipped. He hooked a web onto the doorway and pulled himself back, taking the opportunity to strike a pose as though nothing had happened.
