The pressure relief ring flashed at its center.
White light pierced the inner metal ring, and the edge of the rooftop exploded. The silver ring, which had just finished testing, flipped halfway over and flew off the building, trailing its broken mounting frame.
Chen Mo lunged off the rooftop.
A strand of webbing stuck to the ring's left side. Another swept past him from behind and wrapped around the bracket coming loose on the right.
Peter planted both feet against the wall, but the two web lines dragged him forward.
"Got it!"
"Then hit the brakes first!"
They tightened their webs at the same time.
The pressure relief ring slammed against the building's outer wall, shattered three panes of glass, and finally hung suspended in midair.
Chen Mo ran down the wall and braced his shoulder against the ring's edge. Peter swung to the other side and pressed several wires that were about to come loose back into the casing.
Alarms were already blaring throughout the laboratory.
Tony dragged the attack log back onto the main screen. The energy beam had come from the direction of the moon, bypassed the building's defenses, and struck precisely at the pressure relief ring's core interface.
Whoever had fired it knew what this thing did.
"They're targeting the pressure relief project."
Tony raised a hand and locked down the rooftop network. The first batch of repair arms immediately crawled along the outer wall toward Chen Mo.
"And they know which part is hardest to fix. That targeting style looks really annoying."
Chen Mo pushed the pressure relief ring toward the mechanical arms.
"Who does it remind you of?"
Tony stared at the other Stark signature on the screen. His expression was as foul as it had been during Loki's first invasion of Earth, when,
