Then it was only natural that they wouldn't want to be controlled so easily.

And if there was an altar, exchanging sacrifices for a Card Sequence's power was quite reasonable, in a sense.
Yet Ye Qiyan kept feeling that this wasn't quite accurate.
None of the Card Sequences he had obtained anywhere before had required him to make any sacrifices.
"So... only some Card Sequences are like this, or is it just this Gluttony?"
He couldn't figure it out.

The next time he encountered another Card Sequence, the question would resolve itself.

Gluttony hovered above his palm.
A silvery-white slime tinged with a little pale blue dropped out of it.

Ye Qiyan bent down and picked up the tiny slime between two fingers.
"So small..."
The little slime gently bit his finger, unconsciously trying to feed, only to release its mouth the moment it realized the person it had bitten was its master.
"A brand-new consciousness? No, has only instinct remained?"
"It's just like Death Omen and Red Tears now."
Ye Qiyan casually kneaded the tiny slime.
