Chapters 102–126 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 102The Descenders Blocking the Way

Xiluo sold his seafood in Niro City, paid the required transaction tax, and decided to limit future fishing to avoid attracting dangerous sea life and the Sea Folk. A Descender named Depu then approached him, offered to become his Retainer, and revealed that Blue Star’s Forum held information about Xiluo’s dragons and their allies, which Xiluo denied knowing.

  • Xiluo and Alice sold more than a thousand pounds of seafood at a discount, drawing a crowd and earning 89 silver coins and 4,187 copper coins.
  • Xiluo planned to divide the profits into five shares, then decided to limit fishing to once a day and five hundred pounds because overfishing could attract abomination sea beasts and the Sea Folk.
  • Soldiers demanded a twenty-percent transaction tax, and Xiluo reluctantly paid 26 silver coins and 17 copper coins before leaving the market with Alice.
  • Depu, a level-six Human Spellcaster and Descender from Blue Star, introduced himself and asked to become Xiluo’s Retainer.
  • Depu revealed that information on Blue Star’s Forum described the dragons and powerful Hyena-People and Boar-Pigfolk Javelin Throwers near Niro City, and Xiluo denied being connected to them.

Ch. 103Fleecing Them

Depu persuaded Xiluo to let him negotiate with Lord Mulas’s three sons for gold, and used a series of letters to make them compete to win the dragon’s support. Xiluo ended the chapter with 430 gold coins and praised Depu’s work, while the heirs continued to regard the dragon as a potential threat or tool.

  • Depu privately told Xiluo that the lord’s three sons would compete for his allegiance and offered to secure benefits for him; Xiluo agreed to give him a chance.
  • Depu delivered letters to Field, Green Nite, and Tyrone, and each heir’s household decided to send Xiluo gold coins to keep him from supporting a rival.
  • After Depu reported collecting 150 gold coins, he sent follow-up letters claiming the other heirs had offered more and that Xiluo would favor whoever treated him best.
  • Field, Green Nite’s mother, and Tyrone each authorized further payments, though Tyrone and his teacher discussed using Xiluo in a plan and possibly killing him later.
  • The next day, Xiluo counted 430 gold coins and praised Depu for negotiating the payments.

Ch. 104The [Fel Energy Heart] worth four hundred gold coins

Xiluo rewarded Depu and taught him six first-tier spells after hearing about Descenders’ hopes for the extraordinary. He then visited the God of Wealth’s shop to seek powerful items, where testing a level-eighteen demon’s heart revealed that it could raise spell power by a tier.

  • Xiluo gave Depu five gold coins and offered him a choice of spells as a reward.
  • Depu explained that spells were weakened on Blue Star but still offered Descenders a path beyond ordinary life, and he chose to learn six first-tier spells.
  • Xiluo taught Depu and Alice the spells, then took Alice to the God of Wealth’s shop to buy a Spatial Ring and powerful equipment.
  • A cleric showed Xiluo the [Fel Energy Heart], made from a level-eighteen Abyss Demon, and offered it for four hundred gold coins.
  • Xiluo tested the heart’s power, using Fel energy to strengthen two spells until they each reached the next tier.

Ch. 105Fel Transformation and the Red Dragon's Misery

Xiluo bought a Fel Energy Heart and an Azure Sea Shield, then tested fel transformation near the coast. The power greatly enhanced him but made him aggressive, and after severely beating Gordon, Xiluo regained control and apologized.

  • Xiluo learned that the Fel Energy Heart boosted low- and mid-tier spells by about 50% and replenished its fel energy by consuming his life force.
  • Xiluo bought the Fel Energy Heart and Azure Sea Shield, then gave the shield to Alice before returning to his territory.
  • Xiluo activated fel transformation by channeling magic into the heart and unleashed powerful attacks on the sea as Gordon, Allen, and Abel approached.
  • Fel-corrupted Xiluo insulted Gordon and defeated him in a fierce fight, throwing him into a cliff and holding him injured.
  • Allen and Abel urged Xiluo to stop, and Xiluo regained his composure, explained the fel energy's influence, and apologized to Gordon, Allen, and Abel.

Ch. 106Those Who Challenged a Dragon!

Xiluo tested the Fel Energy Heart’s transformation power, discovered its costs, and learned to replenish it by draining seafood before attending a welcoming banquet in Niro City. At the banquet, Green Nite and his modified Warrior challenged Xiluo to a fight.

  • Xiluo ended his fel transformation, explained that the Fel Energy Heart enabled it, and concealed its origin by claiming Alice’s father had given it to him.
  • Xiluo drained life energy from seafood to replenish the Fel Energy Heart, then returned to Niro City and sold the catch through Depu.
  • Xiluo received an invitation from the Church of the God of Wealth and agreed to attend its dragon-welcoming banquet with Alice.
  • At the banquet, Xiluo noticed Tyrone’s high level and spotted the powerful Spellcaster Crasson Meister among the guests.
  • Green Nite asked Xiluo to fight his modified Warrior, who also pleaded for a chance to challenge the dragon.

Ch. 107An Overwhelming Duel! Humanity's Utter Defeat!

Xiluo effortlessly defeated a Modified Human Warrior at the banquet, winning the nobles’ admiration and gifts. As the rival heirs and their mother competed for his support, Tyrone ordered an attack, and Xiluo felt stomach cramps as the banquet hall plunged into chaos and monsters entered.

  • Xiluo agreed to spar with the Modified Human Warrior, then used his [Wind Sense] to counter every attack and break the Warrior’s sword without being hit.
  • The defeated Warrior collapsed into despair, while Xiluo explained that dragons surpassed humans in strength, reactions, and magic.
  • The impressed merchants and nobles praised Xiluo and showered him with valuable gifts, which he happily accepted.
  • Tyrone, Field, and Green Nite’s mother each offered Xiluo money to support their claim to the lord’s position.
  • Tyrone shouted “Do it!”; Xiluo felt cramps, the others collapsed in pain, the banquet lights burst, and monsters entered the hall.

Ch. 108Tear everything apart! Fel Lightning Storm!

Xiluo fought through Tyrone’s poisoned banquet ambush, killed Tyrone with his Fel Lightning Storm Breath, and forced the Necromancer Kelason to flee. The storm pursued Kelason, leaving Abela and Xiwel behind as the battle continued.

  • Tyrone revealed his betrayal and trapped the poisoned banquet guests behind a barrier while his teacher Kelason fought Abela and Xiwel.
  • Xiluo protected Alice, secretly stole Spatial Rings from the dead, and watched Tyrone kill Green and Field.
  • Xiluo threw an iron spear at Kelason, then fought off Tyrone’s Corpse Explosion and attacked Tyrone with lightning, his claws, and his tail.
  • Kelason rescued Tyrone from Xiluo’s spear wound, but Xiluo unleashed his Fel Lightning Storm Breath and killed Tyrone.
  • Kelason abandoned Tyrone and fled as the storm broke through his Greater Bone Shield and pursued him past Abela and Xiwel.

Ch. 109Rich in One Fell Swoop!

Xiluo and his allies defeated Kelason, ending the attack at the banquet and leaving Alice as the likely heir to Niro City’s lordship. Xiluo collected a fortune from the dead nobles and merchants, then gained an achievement reward for his wealth.

  • Xiluo transformed and destroyed Kelason’s two Death Fiends while Abela and Bishop Xiwel helped hold the necromancer back.
  • Kelason fled, the barrier disappeared, and Abela and Bishop Xiwel escaped as Xiluo returned to normal and looted the banquet hall.
  • Alice emerged from hiding, and Xiluo explained the events to arriving knights before leaving with her.
  • The knights found the corpses stripped of valuables and went to verify Xiluo’s account with Abela and Bishop Xiwel.
  • Xiluo counted sixty-five Spatial Rings and other valuables worth an estimated four to five thousand gold coins, and he and Alice discussed her becoming lord.
  • Xiluo’s dreamscape awarded him the [Wealthy and Luxurious] achievement, raising his Achievement Points to 25.

Ch. 110The talent [Glutton] and the new lord

After Alice inherited Niro City, Xiluo gained the [Glutton] talent and began dealing with the new lord’s finances. He uncovered questionable expenses, left Depu to oversee the accounts, and went alone to the God of Wealth’s temple to spend several thousand gold coins.

  • Paladin Andy confirmed that Tyrone and his brothers had killed one another, and the dying lord entrusted Alice with the lordship before passing away.
  • A black-robed figure lamented that Xiluo had ruined his plan to use Tyrone to find the Ring of Desire, but decided to keep searching for it.
  • At Alice’s inheritance ceremony, Marquis Dorian’s envoy invited Xiluo to visit Omara and offered him support for expanding his territory; Xiluo accepted the invitation card but declined the offer for now.
  • Xiluo examined the treasury with Alice and learned that the city’s Tax Collector was dead, then urged Alice to recruit officials to replace those who had died.
  • Xiluo spent thirty Achievement Points to acquire [Glutton], woke ravenously hungry, and ate seventeen hundred pounds of meat before accompanying Alice to inspect the city’s accounts.
  • Xiluo found suspicious expenses in Niro City’s accounts, left Depu to monitor the officials, and headed alone to the God of Wealth’s temple with several thousand gold coins to spend.

Ch. 11140% Thunderfall Dragon, Storm Dragon

Xiluo traded goods with Bishop Xiwel, absorbed crystals to strengthen his Thunderfall Dragon and Storm Dragon bloodlines, and awakened the ability [Dark Sky-Violent Storm]. He tested it on the villas of officials Tuoluo and Ange, killing them and leaving their households injured.

  • Xiluo exchanged goods worth 4,820 gold coins with Bishop Xiwel, keeping seven Spatial Rings and receiving Hurricane Crystals, Conch Stones, and Tornado Pearls.
  • Xiluo returned to his castle treasury and absorbed the crystals, raising his level to 11 and increasing his Thunderfall Dragon and Storm Dragon bloodlines above 40%.
  • Xiluo took Alice into the sky and learned that officials Tuoluo and Ange lived in villas in the wealthy district.
  • Xiluo unleashed [Dark Sky-Violent Storm] over Tuoluo's villa, where wind, rain, and lightning killed Tuoluo and injured the people inside.
  • Xiluo and Alice saw the storm's destruction, and Xiluo explained that his combined dragon abilities let him command rain, wind, and lightning.

Ch. 112Dividing the spoils and the passage of time

Xiluo returned to his territory, updated the other dragons on Alice becoming lord, and set their pay according to strength while urging them to train. He kept Niro City quiet as it recovered, and two years passed as his territory and the city continued developing.

  • Xiluo returned to his territory and found Gordon training, Allen practicing ice sculpture, and Abel sleeping.
  • Xiluo told the dragons that Alice had become lord, then scolded Abel for being lazy and changed their gold payments to reflect their strength.
  • Xiluo explained how Alice became lord and said the dragons would wait several years before entering Niro City; he gave each dragon and the Retainer leaders a Spatial Ring.
  • Xiluo gave Gordon red copper and Allen Frozen Crystals as advances on their pay, while he gave Abel silver coins and kept Abel's gold in his custody.
  • Xiluo stopped visiting the territory daily, Niro City became fully operational after about half a year, and Adventurers gradually took notice of him.
  • Two years passed while Xiluo kept Niro City from attracting attention.

Ch. 113Two years later

Two years later, Xiluo had become involved with Alice Nite while Niro City struggled with a surge of Descenders and Adventurers. After learning that a Blue Star newspaper had publicized his presence, Xiluo arranged for his kin and retainers to come to the city in five days, leaving Niro’s residents and newcomers abuzz with anticipation.

  • Xiluo and Alice Nite discussed the rising crime and pressure on the city, then a Paladin escorted Alice back to work.
  • Xiluo visited Depu, who explained that Truth Weekly had verified and published information about Xiluo and Niro City, drawing more Descenders.
  • Depu suggested attracting Spellcasters with access to spells and managing other Descenders through stricter patrols or dangerous expeditions, and Xiluo agreed to make use of the newcomers.
  • Xiluo told Alice that Gordon, Abel, Allen, and their Beastmen retainers would arrive in five days, and she agreed to announce their arrival to the city.
  • Niro City’s residents and Descenders reacted to the notice with varied excitement and concern, while Xiluo flew toward the Tate Mountain Range.

Ch. 114The Wyrmlings two years later and entering the city

After two years of training, Xiluo brought Gordon, Allen, Abel, and their Hyena-People and Boar-Pigfolk retainers to settle in Niro City. The newcomers entered the city under Alice’s welcome, while Xiluo reassured the residents that the dragons would not harm them.

  • Xiluo assessed the dragons’ progress and praised Gordon, Allen, and Abel for their improved strength.

  • Five days later, Alice and Paladin Andy welcomed Xiluo’s arriving party outside Niro City, where Descenders gathered to watch.
  • Xiluo declared that he and his companions would work for Niro City’s prosperity, and Alice welcomed them into the city.
  • As Gordon and Abel frightened residents with their stares, Xiluo and Alice reassured the crowd, and the procession continued through the city.

Ch. 115Entering the City and Clearing Out the Dead Weight

Xiluo challenged Captain Saiter’s claim that his eastern barracks soldiers were elite and exposed their poor condition. He proposed a lopsided contest between Saiter’s soldiers and his Beastman retainers, leaving the challenge awaiting a response.

  • Xiluo rejected Captain Saiter’s argument for keeping Beastman retainers apart from human soldiers and accused the eastern barracks troops of failing at their duties.
  • Xiluo, Alice, Paladin Andy, and Saiter visited the eastern barracks, where the soldiers hastily pretended to drill.
  • Xiluo inspected the soldiers, identified them as low-level, and mocked Saiter for calling them elite.
  • Xiluo challenged Saiter to send three to five soldiers against one Beastman retainer, while Andy warned that the retainers would likely lose.
  • Xiluo said his ordinary Beastman retainers could still defeat Saiter’s supposed elite soldiers.

Ch. 116Xiluo, unchanged

Xiluo challenged Saiter’s soldiers to fight his Hyena-People and Boar-Pigfolk retainers, while turning the contests into wagers that cost Saiter and the soldiers their gold. After the retainers defeated all three groups, Xiluo condemned Saiter’s ineffective camp and its waste of Niro City’s resources.

  • Xiluo arranged a duel between a level 5 Hyena-Person and three of Saiter’s soldiers, then persuaded Saiter and the crowd to wager on the outcome.
  • The Hyena-Person defeated all three soldiers with wooden spears, winning Xiluo the wagers and leaving Saiter stunned.
  • Saiter wagered again and selected four soldiers to face another Hyena-Person, but the retainers defeated them as well.
  • Saiter returned with 265 more gold coins and chose a female Boar-Pigfolk to fight five soldiers, but she defeated them too, driving Saiter away in despair.
  • Andy criticized Xiluo for pushing Saiter too far, and Xiluo defended the contests by condemning the camp’s weak soldiers and the wages and food they wasted.

Ch. 117The White Dragon's severed leg restored

Xiluo purged low-level soldiers from Niro City’s four camps, rewarded the capable survivors, and resolved to reform the rest of the city’s forces. At the Church of the God of Wealth, Bishop Xiwel healed Allen’s long-broken leg, and Xiluo saw that the white dragon wyrmling had reached level 9.

  • Alice dismissed Saiter and placed Xiluo in charge of the eastern camp after Andy admitted the camp had been neglected.
  • Xiluo expelled the level 1 and level 2 soldiers, then promised higher pay, better food, and a chance to learn a breathing method to the remaining soldiers.
  • Xiluo and his companions inspected the other three camps, removed about six hundred more low-level soldiers, and left the remaining forces under improved benefits.
  • Xiluo brought Allen to the Church of the God of Wealth, where Bishop Xiwel explained that his injured leg had to be broken again before she could heal it with a Great Healing Spell.
  • Xiluo crushed Allen’s injured limb, and Bishop Xiwel restored it; Allen celebrated by showing off his healed leg.
  • Xiluo inspected Allen and saw that the white dragon wyrmling was level 9.

Ch. 118Undercurrents in the city

After settling in Niro City, Xiluo brought his hares and began training the city’s soldiers, while resentment grew among those dismissed from the barracks. In secret, Kelason recruited Chairman Abela and Green into a plot to overthrow Alice and Xiluo, beginning with a plan to turn the Titan Ape into an undead weapon.

  • Xiluo returned to Niro City with nearly three thousand hares, arranged for them to be raised near the eastern barracks, and discussed troop training with Depu.
  • At the barracks, Xiluo found soldiers watching the Hyena-People and Boar-Pigfolk practice spear throwing, then organized physical training and afternoon javelin practice.
  • After more than nine hundred soldiers were dismissed, their resentment spread through Niro City, and some subjects worried that the remaining troops could not protect them.
  • Kelason appeared at Chairman Abela’s villa with Green, explaining that he had concealed Green’s undead nature with colored contact lenses and other methods.
  • Kelason persuaded Abela that the city’s reduced forces created an opportunity to seize the lordship, and Abela agreed to join his plan.
  • Kelason and Abela set out for the Tate Mountain Range to kill the Titan Ape and turn it into an undead creature.

Ch. 119Sublime Xiluo

Ch. 120Recruitment by a dragon

Xiluo recruited Descenders as Astral Realm Walkers, offering missions, points, and rewards to secure the rare materials he needed to strengthen his dragon bloodlines. The recruitment drew thousands to Niro City, and Xiluo ended the chapter with a haul of Conch Stones, Tornado Pearls, and gold coins.

  • Xiluo decided to use Descenders to obtain more Tornado Pearls and conch stone after calculating how much he needed to raise his bloodline percentages.
  • A notice invited Descenders and Adventurers to the lord's castle, prompting a trio who had considered leaving Niro City to stay and investigate.
  • Depu's forum post advertised the Astral Realm Walkers, whose missions offered full payments, points, and exchanges for spells, positions, and Xiluo's dragon blood.
  • The long-haired man registered as Long-haired Handsome and, with his two friends, chose to seek Tornado Pearls on Soulfall Mountain.

  • The long-haired man explained that Xiluo was Niro City’s guardian dragon, the Lord’s Right Hand, and commander of the eastern military camp, prompting Koraman to threaten the humans until Alicia stopped him.
  • Alicia asked the three humans to take her and Koraman to Xiluo, and they agreed to lead the dragons toward Niro City.
  • As they traveled, Koraman privately resolved to prove he was stronger than Xiluo and win Alicia’s affection.

Ch. 122A reunion after four and a half years

After four and a half years apart, Xiluo reunited with Alicia and Koraman outside Niro City, where Koraman challenged him to a duel and was decisively defeated. Koraman regained his resolve after Alicia and Xiluo comforted him, just as another dragon arrived.

  • Alicia and Koraman waited outside Niro City while three Descenders went to tell Xiluo they had arrived.

  • Xiluo brought Alicia and Koraman to Niro City, where they met Gordon and Abel and learned how Xiluo had taken control of the city.
  • Alicia met Lady Alice and praised the peaceful relationship between humans and dragons, while Koraman grew jealous of Xiluo's standing and his bond with Alicia.
  • Koraman challenged Gordon and lost badly, then later challenged Abel and lost again; Alicia comforted him after both defeats.
  • Alicia and Koraman joined Xiluo's group for annual wages, but Koraman grew angry after learning Allen and Abel earned more and was beaten again.
  • Four months passed as Niro City flourished, and Xiluo gathered the Tornado Pearls and Conch Stone he needed.

  • The High Priestess joined Xiluo’s call to arms, and nearly a thousand soldiers, Clerics, Beastmen, Descenders, and dragons assembled to march on the Tate Mountain Range.
  • Xiluo flew ahead and summoned magical storms, striking down undead while the Spellcaster and Warrior sought shelter in a cave.
  • The arriving army and dragons watched in astonishment as Abel revealed that Xiluo possessed a Storm Dragon bloodline as well as his Thunderfall Dragon bloodline.
