When Qin Yan left with her eldest uncle, the overly dramatic parrot Naonao put on a public performance of a heartbreaking final farewell.
Its owner was so embarrassed that they wished they could pretend not to know this attention seeker.
As the other star of the show, Qin Yan was also uncomfortable with so many people staring at her. Too shy to look up, she kept her little face buried in her uncle's chest the entire time.
She looked like a kitten trying hard to hide herself.
"We've left. You can come out now."
Only then did Qin Yan cautiously lift her head.
"Uncle."
The pretty little darling hugged her eldest uncle's neck and pressed her little face against him, expressing her attachment.
Fu Yunting supported her little bottom.
"It's time to get off work. Let's go home."
After sending Secretary Lin away, Fu Yunting went home right on time for the first time.
Dinner was already prepared at the old family residence.
Qin Yan first ran upstairs to check on the butterfly koi in the little fish tank.
The small, ugly butterfly koi was still stubbornly clinging to life.
At the sight of her, the previously quiet fish began to move.
"Huh? Your eyes turned red."
She blinked and tilted her little head, thinking for a few seconds.
Were its eyes red before?
Oh well. Never mind.
Holding the fish food, she had barely reached her hand over the tank when the fish suddenly jumped up, opened its mouth, and bit her finger.
The little one was a bit startled.
But it didn't hurt.
She froze for a moment, then cautiously leaned closer to look.
"Don't eat my hand."
Keeping her pretty little face stern, the little one earnestly tried to reason with the fish.
"My hand isn't food. If you bite people, you'll get smacked."
"Naughty."
Her babyish voice sounded very fierce, but she was very gentle as she put the fish back into the tank.
But it was still nibbling her finger.
Qin Yan muttered at it for a while longer before the fish finally let go.
Only after watching the fish eat did she carry Tuantuan downstairs for dinner.
At the dining table, the chair was a little high, so she had to climb up to sit properly.
After clumsily climbing for a while, she finally managed to settle down and arrange herself into a well-behaved sitting position, only to hear laughter beside her.
Qin Yan looked up at her uncle.
Was Uncle laughing at her?
Before the little one could figure it out, Fu Yunting placed a meatball in her little bowl.
"Go on, eat."
Qin Yan obediently said, "Okay," picked up her little spoon, and immediately forgot what had just happened as she earnestly tackled the meatball and rice in her bowl.
She ate very quietly and intently.
Perhaps it was because the flesh on her cheeks was so soft, but the food in her mouth made them bulge round.
She looked like a round, soft little hamster working hard to stash food in its mouth.
In all his years, Fu Yunting had never imagined anyone could look so adorable just eating.
Suddenly, he understood a little why some people liked watching hamsters eat.
Throughout the meal, Qin Yan never got a chance to help herself to any dishes.
Her uncle piled all sorts of food into her little bowl.
And she ended up being fed until she was stuffed.
Looking at the food left in her little bowl, she knitted her brows, her little face scrunching up with worry.
"Uncle, I can't eat any more."
At last, the timid little darling holding her spoon worked up the courage to say she was full.
She had eaten so much because she didn't want to let the food her uncle had served her go to waste.
Fu Yunting reached out and felt her tummy.
It was indeed a little swollen and round.
"Stop eating if you're full. Your tummy will hurt if you overeat."
Qin Yan nodded, her little face slightly flushed, and let out a burp.
"My tummy hurts a little."
Fu Yunting said, "Butler, some digestive tablets."
After taking the digestive tablets, Qin Yan got down from her chair and walked around with Tuantuan perched on her head.
Fu Yunting stood up and took her for a stroll around the garden.
Qin Yan ran over to where she had planted her sunflowers and peanuts, staring at the bare patch of earth for quite a while.
"You only just planted them. They can't sprout that quickly."
"Oh."
Then I'll wait a little longer.
After a walk around the garden, her tummy finally felt less stuffed.
She called her grandfather on her children's smartwatch.
The old man and the little girl chatted for so long that it grew dark.
Meanwhile, poor Fu Yunting continued dealing with company matters on his computer.
"Bath time, then bedtime."
Once the little bathtub was filled, Qin Yan leaned over its edge, working up a lather with a bar of grape-scented soap in her little hands.
When she was ready, she went to find the young maid to help take off her little dress, then climbed into the bathtub by herself for a soak.
She brought Tuantuan in too and piled lots of bubbles onto Tuantuan's head.
"Tuantuan smells lovely now too."
"Gooji, gooji..."
Tuantuan happily played with Qin Yan in the water.
When she finished washing, her hair was dripping wet.
She put on her little bear pajamas and went to find her uncle.
Her uncle was in his room. The little one first pushed the door open a crack and peeked inside.
Fu Yunting had only just finished showering too, and he immediately spotted the little darling sneaking around like a kitten.
"What is it? Come in."
Holding on to the door, Qin Yan said softly, "I'm checking if Uncle's busy."
"Do you have time, Uncle?"
The little one looked at him expectantly with her big eyes.
Fu Yunting said, "Come in."
The damp little one immediately scampered inside.
Even the little bear tail on her bottom swayed.
"Uncle, could you help Yanyan dry her hair?"
Qin Yan ran up to him with tiny steps, tilted her delicate, pretty little face up, and asked in a soft, sweet voice.
Fu Yunting pinched her little face.
As he pinched the flesh of her cheeks, it squeezed her rosy little lips into a pout.
"Come here. I'll dry your hair."
Qin Yan immediately climbed obediently onto his bed, then sat properly with her two short little legs together.
Fu Yunting brought the hair dryer over and sat behind her, enclosing the little darling between his long, folded legs before drying her hair.
Qin Yan's hair was in very good condition now, soft and slightly curly.
After drying it for a while, he ran his fingers through it, and it fluffed up.
The drying made her a little sleepy. She yawned, her little head swaying with the movement of Fu Yunting's hand through her hair.
She was like a tiny kitten with hardly any strength, soft and docile.
Once her hair was almost dry, the fluffy little one leaned back slightly against her uncle.
She dazedly lifted her eyelids to look at him, nuzzled her head gently against him, and made sleepy little murmurs.
She looked groggy, dazed, and adorably muddled.
And she smelled lovely.
It really was hard not to want to scoop her up and breathe in her scent.
"You might as well sleep here tonight."
Fu Yunting pinched her soft little face again.
"Mm."
Qin Yan was already completely out of it.
Looking at the tiny little darling, Fu Yunting decided his suggestion was a good one.
So he tucked his sleep-dazed little niece under the covers.
The little one fell fast asleep almost the moment her head touched the pillow.
She burrowed down a little, leaving only a bit of her soft head showing, her little face buried in the bedding.
Fu Yunting looked at the little mound on his bed, in an excellent mood.
He took a photo and sent it to the group chat to show off again.
Well, why hadn't I realized before that taking photos was pretty fun?
He even felt that posting it in the group chat wasn't enough. There were only a handful of people there.
So he called his assistant directly to ask how to use Moments.
His assistant, who had almost fallen asleep: ...
