Old Master Fu had been considering several matters lately.
His granddaughter's name, and holding a banquet to acknowledge her as family-the purpose was to let everyone in their circle know how much the Fu Family valued her.
Also, Yanyan had more or less recovered physically. She needed to go to school.
Hmm... should she go to school, or should he simply hire tutors to teach her at home?
Sitting in the car on the way to pick up his fifth son at the airport, Old Master Fu asked whether she wanted to change her name.
Confusion filled Qin Yan's round, innocent eyes.
"Then what would Yanyan be called?"
Her voice was soft and sweet, sounding so much like she was being affectionate that it made his heart melt.
"You'd take Grandpa's surname, of course."
Qin Yan squeezed her Slime with her little hands, a hint of pleading in her soft voice.
"Could I... not change it?"
Old Master Fu was a little surprised.
"That name of yours was..."
Qin Yan lowered her eyes slightly, her soft hair drooping a little with the movement.
"Blind Granny gave it to me."
Her soft cheeks puffed out. "Before that, they called me 'damned girl.'"
Hearing this, Old Master Fu clenched his fists.
Damn them!
Qin Yan leaned her tiny body against her grandfather and told him about Blind Granny in her soft, sweet voice.
"That day, I was washing clothes, and they wouldn't give me anything to eat. I was so, so hungry."
"Blind Granny gave me a steamed bun."
"Then I went to see her a lot. Blind Granny had a really amazing kitty at her house."
"Blind Granny gave me my name."
"Granny said she'd originally picked the name for her granddaughter."
"But she was the only one left."
Actually, many people in the village did not dislike her, and some even liked her. But her adoptive parents' family bullied everyone in the village, so the other households did not dare speak up for her, or that shameless, overbearing family would come knocking on their doors.
Qin Yan only dared sneak off to see Blind Granny when they could not see her, afraid of causing trouble for Blind Granny.
Old Master Fu understood. Right, that family's surname was Chen. He had been wondering why his granddaughter was named Qin Yan.
That family had actually-actually never even given the little one a proper name!
He rested his palm on the little girl's hair beside him, stroking it gently to comfort her.
"It's all right. You can keep being Qin Yan, then. It's a lovely name."
It was not hard to tell that the Blind Granny Yanyan spoke of had treated her very well.
This name could serve as something to remember her by.
It was fine not to change her name.
As long as she did not take the Shen Family's surname. Hmph!
And the Chen Family, too. No... once those people got out of prison, he had to make them pay!
Qin Yan nuzzled his palm like a kitten, sweet and well-behaved.
"Grandpa is so nice."
She liked her grandfather so much.
Old Master Fu's heart melted. What a soft little sweetheart she was. How could anyone be so utterly depraved as to bear to bully her?
They arrived at the airport.
Neither of them got out. They simply waited for Fu Nanshan to find them himself.
Qin Yan sat by the window, which was rolled all the way down. She rested her little hands on the window frame and propped her tiny chin on the backs of them.
Sunlight spilled down, tinting her hair with a layer of warm gold.
Her skin looked even fairer.
Wispy bangs covered her forehead, setting off a pair of big, round puppy eyes with slightly downturned outer corners that looked so pitiful, their irises dark and bright.
Her eyelashes were thick and curled, her nose small and fair, and her little mouth looked plump, full, and naturally rosy. Every feature truly looked as though it had been carefully sculpted.
A passerby happened to spot her and was instantly drawn in, unable to resist looking several more times.
Someone even took out a camera and snapped a photo.
Hearing the sound, the pretty, kitten-like child looked over blankly.
At the sight of a stranger, she shyly, timidly pulled her head back inside the car window.
Only after cautiously peeking out and finding that the person had left did she muster the courage to lean on the window again and wait for her Younger Uncle.
She still remembered the photo her grandfather had shown her. Her Younger Uncle was easy to recognize.
The sweet little girl was very patient. She had been watching for a while without showing the slightest impatience.
Old Master Fu, on the other hand, had started calling to hurry him along.
At last, Qin Yan spotted that dazzling figure.
Although Fu Nanshan was the youngest of the Fu Family's sons, he was already a grown young man of twenty-seven.
He was very tall, about the same height as Fu Yunting, though he looked slimmer.
His skin was also very fair, and he had a cool, ethereal air about him, as if his whole body glowed.
He wore a white tracksuit and a baseball cap, with a string of prayer beads hanging from his left wrist.
He looked countless times better than in the photo!
As he walked over, the gazes around him never left him.
Fu Nanshan reached the car, raised a hand, and gently tapped the forehead of the pretty little child who had been staring at him in a daze.
Qin Yan blinked, then blushed shyly, her whole fluffy little self shrinking down a little.
But a few seconds later, she raised her little head again, her moist eyes gazing eagerly at the excessively handsome man before her.
"Younger Uncle."
She called to him softly.
The young man lowered his eyes to the fluffy little bundle. Although his expression barely changed, a trace of amusement flickered in his eyes.
"Mm."
He answered her.
Old Master Fu leaned his head over.
"What are you standing there for? Don't you know to get in?"
Only then did Fu Nanshan turn his indifferent gaze toward him.
"Dad."
Even his voice had that cool, snowy quality.
In the car, Qin Yan sat in the back, but her little eyes kept darting toward the front.
Fu Nanshan was sitting up front.
Old Master Fu huffed twice, thoroughly displeased with his sons.
"What use are any of you to me? Not one of you will get married!"
He himself had married quite late. Busy with his career in his early years, he had only married at thirty.
After that, he had several children.
And now his sons were even more outrageous than he had been.
His eldest was already in his thirties and, at present, seemed to have absolutely no intention of marrying.
The others had followed his example.
Not to mention his fifth son, who was a monk. He had already entered monastic life, so there was even less hope of counting on him.
"If it weren't for your sister, I'm afraid I'd never get to hold a grandchild in my lifetime!"
A daughter's daughter was still a granddaughter!
"Just looking at that bald head of yours annoys me."
Fu Nanshan, who was being pressured to marry as soon as he returned: ...
He simply pretended not to hear. Surely his father could not expect him to get married?
Old Master Fu held Qin Yan and sighed.
"I don't know what young people these days are thinking. Why doesn't any of them want to get married?"
Qin Yan rubbed her little cheek against her grandfather's shoulder to comfort him.
"Don't be angry, Grandpa."
In an instant, most of Old Master Fu's anger disappeared.
"I'm not angry anymore. Grandpa has Yanyan now, so I'm not that angry anymore."
Now that he had his granddaughter, he truly wanted for nothing.
Fu Nanshan said nothing, merely pulling his cap a little lower.
He had never been much of a talker. He only glanced at Qin Yan through the rearview mirror.
Once they arrived home, Fu Nanshan walked leisurely ahead, while Qin Yan walked between her grandfather and her Younger Uncle.
Jinbao ran over, wagging his tail.
"Woof, woof..."
Fu Nanshan's cool eyes fixed on Jinbao, his brow furrowing slightly.
Qin Yan had already crouched down and picked Jinbao up. He was so chubby that he was quite heavy in her arms.
"Jinbao, have you been good?"
Jinbao barked, clearly delighted to be held by her.
"Where did this dog come from?"
Fu Nanshan's voice rang out.
Lying in the crook of Qin Yan's arm, Jinbao lifted his furry head to look over.
Qin Yan looked up too, saying a little nervously, "I found him."
Fu Nanshan and Jinbao's eyes met, inexplicably giving off a dangerous sense of drawn swords.
"Younger Uncle."
Her tender, sweet voice broke the invisible standoff.
"Jinbao is very well-behaved."
Fu Nanshan withdrew his gaze. "Mm."
Well-behaved?
His fingers shifted slightly as he suppressed the urge to investigate.
A Super A-Class anomaly, well-behaved?
