As he spoke, he took out a stick as thick as a finger and approached the cages.
"Mrow!!!"
A piercing cat's cry erupted. A fierce gust suddenly blew in through the window, accompanied by thick black mist.
"What is that?!"
"Ah!! I can't see!"
The villa instantly descended into chaos. The strange gust and black mist threw all four people present into a panic, and they knocked over quite a few things in the confusion.
Once they could see clearly again, the four of them discovered to their horror that the room was full of cats and dogs.
The cages holding them had been opened at some unknown point. Now, all the cats' and dogs' eyes had turned red, and they were staring at the people with murderous hostility.
"Get away! All of you, get lost!"
They frantically picked up things from the floor and tried to shoo the animals away.
But the cats and dogs had no intention of leaving. Instead, they drew closer and closer.
"Mrow!!!"
"Woof, woof, woof!"
The next second, the cats and dogs lunged at them.
"Aaaah!!!"
Screams rang out inside the villa. Unfortunately, no one heard them.
"Enough."
Outside the villa, Fu Nanshan approached Jinbao, wearing loose pajamas and holding a string of prayer beads in his right hand.
"If you kill them, those cats and dogs will die when they're caught."
Jinbao no longer looked anything like a harmless little dog.
Like a small mountain in the night, Jinbao was enormous, shrouded in eerie energy that could terrify people or even drive them insane with a single glance. Two ferocious, powerful heads stared into the villa with scarlet eyes.
"Roar!"
Jinbao growled at Fu Nanshan.
Not enough. Why? Humans can beat and kill cats and dogs as they please, but I'm supposed to stop at teaching them a little lesson?
Jinbao looked at Fu Nanshan with displeasure.
Get lost. For the sake of you being my little master's uncle, I won't hurt you.
Fu Nanshan was somewhat shocked. Jinbao had actually accepted his little niece as a master.
Eerie beings never accepted masters-not even low-level ones, let alone proud S-rank beings.
Eerie beings could not be controlled.
Everyone who knew of their existence understood this.
Fu Nanshan did not want to fight Jinbao.
His inability to win was one thing. If they really fought, they would destroy plenty of things. If Jinbao grew furious and spread that eerie energy, everyone within dozens of miles would be affected. Those nearby or in poor physical condition might turn directly into eerie monsters.
"They do deserve to die."
Fu Nanshan's voice was calm. In his eyes, humans were not much nobler than animals.
"But they shouldn't be killed by animals. If this escalates, other cats and dogs will suffer too."
Jinbao said, Then I'll bite them to death myself.
You humans are ridiculous. Humans are clearly at fault, yet innocent animals end up being punished.
The strong make the rules. Right now, I'm the strong one, so whether they die is up to me.
As those words fell, two people ran out of the villa, covered in blood and injuries.
Without another word, Jinbao pounced.
But a Buddhist Chant soon rang out. Golden runes spread from Fu Nanshan, forming a barrier of golden light before Jinbao's claws.
Jinbao's right head roared at Fu Nanshan.
A mass of thick, eerie black mist struck toward him.
Fu Nanshan pressed his palms together, his eyes turning gold as he met Jinbao's gaze without fear. The black mist was blocked by an intangible Golden Bell formed from Sanskrit script before him.
But the next second, glaringly bright blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, and his already cool, fair skin grew even paler.
Jinbao's voice was mocking. Is it worth getting hurt for people like these?
Fu Nanshan looked over with a cool gaze.
"Jinbao."
"They will pay."
"Trust me this once."
The ferocity in Jinbao's eyes subsided slightly, and that massive body moved up to him.
The two people had long since fainted from fright.
Jinbao said, I hate humans. If you can't give me a satisfactory answer, I'll come take their lives myself.
With that, Jinbao turned back into a little black dog and ran toward the Fu Family's old residence.
"Meow."
"Woof, woof..."
Many cats and dogs ran out of the villa.
Not one of them was healthy. Some had been whipped. Others had been used by those people to make money and forcibly trained. If they disobeyed, they were denied food or had their legs broken, or they were fed all sorts of drugs to make them sick and elicit sympathy.
The useless ones were either killed outright and buried in the villa's backyard or sent away to serve as blood bags.
Now, they all dragged their sickly, weakened bodies after Jinbao.
Fu Nanshan watched them leave, then lowered his indifferent gaze to the two unconscious people, disgust flashing through his eyes.
The remaining three people in the villa also stumbled out in a sorry state.
"Quick, call the police..."
"I'm going to kill those beasts!"
Fu Nanshan watched them coldly. As they approached, he used his power to send them flying.
Now everyone was unconscious.
Fu Nanshan took out his phone.
"A group of cats and dogs is heading to the house."
Fu Yunting, whose sleep had been interrupted: ...
What on earth are you talking about?
"I'll explain when I get back. Make arrangements for them first."
Then he hung up and made another call.
"Cloud End Residential Community. An S-rank eerie being..."
"Jinbao."
Qin Yan woke up and rubbed her eyes. She hugged Tuantuan and gave Tuantuan a kiss, then picked up Jinbao from the little dog bed beside her bed and kissed Jinbao too.
Jinbao wagged that tail cheerfully.
"Such a good dog."
She petted the good little dog and put Jinbao down, then looked at Tuantuan's soap for the day.
"It's tea-scented!"
Qin Yan put the soap away and went to wash up, folding the bedding into a messy heap.
Hmm... it looked less like folded bedding and more like a little nest piled together.
She slowly dressed herself, then took the bar of soap to find her eldest uncle.
"Youngest Uncle?"
To her surprise, the moment she opened the door, she found her youngest uncle standing outside.
But why did his face look even paler than yesterday?
The little girl immediately went on high alert.
"Uncle, come down a little."
Fu Nanshan gave Jinbao a complicated look, then crouched down.
Qin Yan stood on tiptoe and touched his forehead with her little hand.
"Uncle, are you sick?"
But she couldn't tell.
She touched her own forehead again. Her uncle's forehead was cool.
Fu Nanshan stroked her fluffy hair. "I'm fine."
Jinbao did not even look at him, as though his condition had nothing to do with Jinbao.
After going downstairs, Qin Yan was still worried and brought him a glass of milk.
"Drink this, Uncle."
"Do you need to see a doctor?"
Fu Nanshan said without a change in expression, "My body temperature is naturally low."
Qin Yan froze for a moment. But he hadn't seemed this cold yesterday.
Before she could figure it out, Fu Yunting strode in from outside.
"What exactly is going on with those cats and dogs?"
There were so many of them, and every one looked sickly.
Qin Yan said, "Cats? Dogs?"
Fu Nanshan said, "A group of sick cats and dogs came to the house. Yanyan, why don't you go have a look?"
Qin Yan nodded. "Okay!"
She was very curious and ran outside with Jinbao and Tuantuan.
