Fu Yunting: ...
He turned to leave.
Fu Nanshan moved in front of him as fast as he could, blocking his way. "Big Brother."
He shoved the documents in his hand straight into Fu Yunting's.
"Big Brother, help."
Then he pulled him over to Jinbao and let out a soft breath, as though he had finally completed his task.
After that, he stared blankly at the teacup in his hand.
Fu Yunting rolled his eyes, but he stayed.
He quickly read through the documents, then summarized them for Jinbao.
"Those people, especially the one called Liu Sandao, didn't just kill cats and dogs. He also killed a person."
The Special Administration Bureau was currently a rather special presence in Dongyan Country.
Normally, Liu Sandao and the others' case would not have warranted the Special Administration Bureau's involvement.
But a high-level supernatural entity like Jinbao had become involved.
Fu Nanshan could not defeat an S-Rank entity. The Special Administration Bureau would probably have to send quite a few experts and pay a very heavy price to beat one.
Even then, they would not be killing the S-Rank Anomaly for good, only suppressing it for a while.
Once an S-Rank Anomaly broke free of that suppression, its subsequent retaliation against the Special Administration Bureau would also be dangerous.
So, after determining that this S-Rank Anomaly posed no threat to anyone else for the time being, they would naturally choose the lesser of two evils and deal with Liu Sandao and the others to appease it.
"So Liu Sandao will be sentenced to death. The person he killed was his neighbor's child."
Liu Sandao might have been able to conceal this information at an ordinary police station.
But once he was at the Special Administration Bureau, getting it out of him was quite easy.
Reading this information, Fu Yunting was utterly disgusted with Liu Sandao too.
"Liu Sandao was a gambler and owed a huge amount of money. His neighbors back home were doing pretty well, so he went to borrow money from them, but they refused. On top of that, he envied how well they were living. Between his anger and jealousy, and the fact that he wasn't a good person to begin with, he went after their child."
With a human life on his hands, Liu Sandao could not escape the death penalty.
Jinbao sneered, "So you humans only sentence him to death when one of you gets hurt. Selfish humans."
Fu Yunting set down the documents and said to Jinbao,
"I admit humans are selfish. But put yourself in our shoes. If an animal killed a human, would you kill that animal for the sake of so-called fairness?"
Jinbao was immediately at a loss for words.
Fu Yunting folded his arms. "See? We're different species. Why demand something of us that you can't do yourself?"
"Everyone is selfish. Naturally, humans consider things from a human perspective."
"Besides, you've only seen humans hurting animals. Why haven't you looked at humans protecting animals?"
Jinbao could not win an argument against Fu Yunting. After all, it was only a supernatural entity formed from the vengeful spirits of cats and dogs. Clever as it was, it was not as clever as a human who had received all kinds of education from childhood.
Seeing Jinbao sulking in silence, Fu Yunting continued.
"Besides, who said revenge had to mean killing them? You should know that sometimes, living a life worse than death is more terrifying than dying outright."
Jinbao's ears twitched, and it turned to look at him.
"People like them care most about money."
"Apart from Liu Sandao, the others might only be locked up for a while before being released. But there are plenty of ways to deal with them."
"First, everything they've done needs to be posted online. People will condemn them themselves, and it'll also help seek justice for those dead cats and dogs."
"Liu Sandao still owes plenty of money. He won't be getting out, but we can have his debt collectors go harass the other three."
"I'll have people keep an eye on them. If they try switching accounts to keep causing trouble, they'll be banned immediately. With a stain like this on their records, no one will hire them either. That'll cut off their income."
"Or, if you don't think that's enough, go steal all their money... ahem, take it back."
Fu Nanshan pretended not to hear.
Fu Yunting said, "Are there any supernatural entities among you that can give people nightmares? It'd be even better if they could give them nightmares every day. Or make them suffer bad luck every day..."
Fu Nanshan: ...
After that whole routine from his big brother, even a real supernatural entity would have to admit defeat.
Jinbao was also rather dumbfounded. For a moment, it could no longer tell who the real villain was.
"Didn't you say humans were selfish and looked out for human interests?"
How was this man even more ruthless than it was?
Fu Yunting looked perfectly serious. "Yes, selfish. But what are they to me?"
"The law must be fair, and on the broader level, it will certainly take humanity into consideration."
"But things between individuals are much more complicated. Conflicts between humans are also far crueler than yours. There are plenty of ways for you to get revenge, especially for a supernatural entity as powerful as you. Why choose the stupidest one? Killing them outright would be letting them off far too easily."
Jinbao: ...
Honestly, if its paws had been suited to it, it would have given Fu Yunting a thumbs-up.
Fu Yunting said, "Watch and learn."
Jinbao: Its lack of education really had cost it!
Now Jinbao truly had no resentment left at all.
It even felt that killing people outright in the past had really let them off too easily.
As for giving people nightmares, it really did know a supernatural entity that could do that.
So that night, Jinbao left the Fu Family Residence to catch a certain supernatural entity that could give people nightmares, then broke into the Special Administration Bureau.
That day, a red alert sounded throughout the Special Administration Bureau.
"Youngest Uncle, Jinbao?"
Qin Yan was very worried when she got up early that morning and could not find Jinbao.
Only her youngest uncle was home now. Holding Tuantuan, Qin Yan ran up to him with tiny steps and softly asked whether he had seen Jinbao.
Fu Nanshan's cool eyes rested on the pale, soft little bundle before him.
Suddenly, he reached out and picked her up.
Qin Yan looked at him in bewilderment with her beautiful, dewy eyes.
"Went out to play."
"Oh," Qin Yan said.
"Grandpa?"
Fu Nanshan said, "Fishing."
He had run off with his fishing gear first thing that morning.
"Have breakfast."
He carried her over and settled her in the chair beside his.
Fu Nanshan placed warm milk in front of her, along with a bowl of little wontons.
Qin Yan set Tuantuan on the table and put out a little saucer containing today's fruit: lemon.
Tuantuan was even less picky than Qin Yan and could eat both sour and spicy things.
It just could not handle spicy soap, so she would not feed it any more of that.
Holding a spoon in her little hand and wearing a cute pink-and-white bib, she quietly began eating by herself.
The beautiful little girl looked so adorable eating, and she was so neat about it that one could not help looking at her again and again.
Fu Nanshan now understood very well why his big brother liked sharing photos.
It really was a little addictive.
Fluffy, soft, and well-behaved.
I want to raise her.
Qin Yan diligently finished her food, wiped her mouth clean with a tissue, then held her milk and drank it in little sips.
She watched Tuantuan eat, occasionally giving it a gentle poke.
"Woof, woof..."
Qin Yan turned to look. The familiar little black dog had returned, wagging its tail.
