"Ahem, I meant I'd buy it for myself."
Realizing what she had said, Secretary Lin blushed.
Qin Yan said, "Oh," and handed Meimei a skewer of candied hawthorn.
She would eat one herself, and she still had to get one for her eldest uncle.
She actually wanted to buy one for Grandpa too, but she did not know when they would go back and was afraid it would spoil.
As she ate her candied hawthorn, Secretary Lin took her to buy more food.
Sugar-roasted chestnuts, roasted sweet potatoes, and little rice balls in sweet fermented rice wine.
But her tummy was too small, and she could not eat much at all.
By the time she came to her senses, they had already bought quite a lot of food.
Even Qin Yan felt embarrassed.
Sister Lin was carrying all those things for her, too.
"No more shopping."
Qin Yan rubbed her little hands, still a little bewildered. How had she lost control and bought so much?
This street had a magical power!
Secretary Lin was still all smiles.
"All right, no more food. Let's buy something else."
"Sweetie, they're doing face painting over there. Want to try it?"
Qin Yan followed her over for a look and discovered that quite a few children had paintings on their faces.
Some were little animals, and some were flowers.
The bright colors and patterns looked quite pretty on their faces.
When the young woman painting a child's face spotted Qin Yan, her eyes immediately lit up several notches.
"What a beautiful little girl! Want to give it a try? This paint won't affect children's skin at all. Just wash it off with water and soap when you get home."
Qin Yan looked at the paintings on the other children's faces, feeling a little tempted.
