Background / History
System Career and Meeting Qin Yan
Meimei served the Main System for five hundred years and traveled through multiple worlds. According to its own account, its previous charges were powerful protagonists who became major figures in their worlds. By the time it encountered Qin Yan, Meimei had grown tired of that work and wanted to become a child-raising system instead. It was immediately drawn to Qin Yan’s beautiful soul and pitiful circumstances 3 45.
Meimei arrived in Qin Yan’s world by chance, without a physical body and with almost no energy remaining. After Blind Granny died, it encouraged the three-year-old to leave the village, revealed that her abusive adoptive family was not her birth family, and directed her toward her relatives. Its reassurance helped Qin Yan make the journey despite her fear 1 2 3.
Retirement and Departure
After Qin Yan settled into the Fu household, Meimei announced that it needed to return to the Main System to retire and collect its belongings. It promised to come back in a new form. Before leaving, it gave Qin Yan a blind box containing Know All Things and the Elven Life Tree’s Core Energy Crystal, which held a trace of World Origin. The crystal entered Qin Yan’s body, and Meimei departed after she fell asleep 3 4.
To return permanently, Meimei spent a large quantity of points and supplies terminating its employment contract. It then visited the Cultivation Realm to obtain a body. It intended to inhabit a recently deceased nine-tailed fox cub, but a blast from fighting Beast Race members knocked it into a Treasure-Seeking Mouse cub instead 42 45.
Return and Acceptance by the Fu Family
Meimei returned while Qin Yan was trapped in a nightmare. It destroyed the blackish-red manifestation tormenting her, erased the frightening memories, and led her out. Qin Yan awakened after three days, then followed Meimei’s mental directions to find its physical body outside the Fu residence 42.
After revealing its identity to Fu Yunting, Meimei received his sincere thanks and permission to live with Qin Yan. Old Master Fu likewise recognized it as the family’s benefactor for helping his granddaughter escape the village. Meimei shared its Cultivation Realm treasures with the household and began organizing Qin Yan’s companions around her protection 43 44 45.
Raising Spirit Plants and Creatures
Meimei encouraged Qin Yan to plant the spirit-fruit seeds it had brought home and helped her and Fu Nanshan prepare the garden. Its remaining gifts included Kongsang Silkworms, four earth dragons, and a stolen Golden-Winged Bee Queen. The Bee Queen pursued Meimei in retaliation until Fu Nanshan captured it and Qin Yan persuaded it to stop 47 48 49.
Once the Bee Queen joined the household, Meimei explained its feeding requirements. It later prevented the unfamiliar creature from stinging Fu Yunting when he entered Qin Yan’s room at night 49 50.
Appearance
- Build: Tiny, plump, and golden, resembling a fluffy hamster or a small golden ball 42.
- Fur: Longer than an ordinary hamster’s; Qin Yan can tie it into two upright pigtails decorated with sunflower clips 42 46.
- Tail: Slightly longer than its body, covered in fine white down and ending in a fluffy tuft 42.
- Paws: Small and pink; Meimei often stands upright with its paws planted on its waist 43.
- Typical perch: Frequently rides on Qin Yan’s head or shoulder 43 44 48.
Personality
Meimei is fiercely affectionate toward Qin Yan, calling her “baby,” “little one,” and “cub.” It reassures her that other people’s cruelty is not her fault and becomes furious when she is threatened. Its decision to leave the Main System costs it substantial resources, but it expresses no regret about choosing life with her 1 42 43 45.
Beauty-loving and openly narcissistic, Meimei initially resents losing the chance to become a nine-tailed fox. It dislikes being mistaken for an ordinary mouse or hamster, yet Qin Yan’s praise quickly soothes its indignation. It happily admires the pigtails she gives it and indulges her attention 42 44 46 47.
Meimei is boastful, sharp-tongued, and willing to manipulate its companions. It claims leadership by stressing its education and experience rather than its fighting strength, then privately celebrates how easily the others were persuaded. Its bravado also conceals embarrassment: it tells Qin Yan that stealing the Bee Queen was easy while hiding that the hive’s attacks left it badly swollen 45 48.
Abilities & Skills
Mental Communication and Speech
- Communicates directly in Qin Yan’s mind, both as a system and after obtaining its mouse body 1 42.
- Can physically speak aloud in its new body. Fu Yunting distinguishes this from Jinbao’s energy-based communication 43.
Nightmare Intervention
- Enters Qin Yan’s nightmare, crushes the hostile manifestation, and guides her out of the enclosed dream space 42.
- Erases her memories of the ordeal; after waking, she retains fear and loneliness but cannot remember what frightened her 42.
- The destroyed manifestation is not Nightmare’s complete being. Jinbao identifies it as only a wisp of an incarnation, leaving the underlying threat unresolved 43.
Treasure Seeking and Storage
- Finds a secret realm in the Cultivation Realm and retrieves spirit stones, inheritances, artifacts, seeds, and creatures 43 48.
- Stores and retrieves hundreds of fist-sized spirit stones and other treasures through its cheek pouches 43.
- Has low combat strength compared with the secret realm’s powerful spirit beasts, which chase it and nearly kill it 43.
System Experience and Cultivation Knowledge
- Recognizes the Life Tree crystal and its trace of World Origin when Qin Yan opens the blind box 3.
- Explains spirit-stone absorption, spiritual agriculture, and the care and uses of Cultivation Realm creatures 43 45 48 49.
- Advises Qin Yan to absorb energy while sleeping and suggests giving suitable cultivation inheritances to her uncles so they can better protect her 43 45.
- Identifies mental attacks as a gap in Jinbao’s defenses and searches its supplies for protection for Qin Yan’s sea of consciousness 43 45.
Planar Travel and Limits
- Previously traveled between worlds as a system and left Qin Yan’s world to return to the Main System 4 45.
- After returning in its mouse body, states that its remaining points funded only that trip; it cannot return to the Cultivation Realm 45.
- Before gaining a body, its lack of physical form and depleted energy prevented it from directly fighting Qin Yan’s abusers 2.
Items and Gifts
- Blind box: Draws from the Main System’s treasure vault. Its contents depend partly on luck and partly on compatibility with the recipient. Qin Yan receives Know All Things and the Life Tree crystal; these become her gifts, not Meimei’s personal abilities 3.
- Spirit stones and spirit marrow: Supplies cultivation energy and recommends making the concentrated green spirit marrow into a necklace for Qin Yan 43.
- Cultivation inheritances: Includes an alchemist’s inheritance, a Mahayana Sword Cultivator’s Sword Dao inheritance, and a powerful cultivator’s Talisman Dao inheritance 43.
- Spirit artifacts: Retrieves weapons and other artifacts from the secret realm; some appear dirty, dull, or cracked 43.
- Spirit fruits and seeds: Brings fruit for the household and saves the seeds for planting. It specifically selects Milk Fruit for Qin Yan’s health 44 45.
- Kongsang Silkworms and tree seeds: Intended to produce light, breathable, water- and fire-resistant cloth that can carry defensive runes 48.
- Four earth dragons: Two adults and two young that loosen and fertilize soil 48.
- Golden-Winged Bee Queen: Stolen from its hive for its valuable, nourishing honey. Meimei suffers extensive stings during the theft and uses several medicinal pills to recover 48 49.
Relationships
- Qin Yan — Closest companion and chosen child to raise. Qin Yan trusts Meimei’s guidance, welcomes it back tearfully, and calls it a very good friend 1 42 44 45.
- Fu Yunting — Initially trades insults with Meimei, then sincerely thanks it for saving Qin Yan and offers it a home and support 43 44.
- Old Master Fu / Fu Rong — Recognizes Meimei as the family’s benefactor and prepares food for its new body 44 46.
- Fu Nanshan — Helps Meimei and Qin Yan plant spirit seeds and catches the pursuing Bee Queen. Meimei objects when he applies ordinary hamster dietary advice to it 47 49.
- Jinbao — Fellow protector and argumentative rival. Meimei claims superior intelligence and leadership; Jinbao questions why it should follow someone weaker in combat 43 45.
- Tuantuan — Frequently pushed around or mocked by Meimei. Their disputes include Meimei forcing it to spit out a spirit-fruit pit needed for planting 43 44 45.
- Dreamweaving Butterfly — Recognized by Meimei as potentially useful against mental threats, but still too weak to provide sufficient protection 45.
- Golden-Winged Bee Queen — Resents Meimei for stealing it from its hive. Qin Yan mediates their conflict, after which Meimei helps manage its place in the household 48 49 50.
