Background / History
Kraft built Alice over more than a week, deliberately constructing her from scratch rather than relying on his dream memories. With Martin Lee's help, he gave her the public identity of Alice Lee, Martin's distant niece and Kraft's cousin, while retaining the Chinese name Li Mingnai. Her name was inspired by Alice in Wonderland 12.
Alice originally had a wind-up key attached to her back as a decorative prank. Kraft could remove it without affecting her functions, and Martin had the mechanism removed after criticizing Kraft's treatment of his new “sister” 12 13.
She moved in with Kraft, took over much of the cooking and household care, and was eventually enrolled in his class at Vantas Public Middle School. Although she appears older than Kraft, he chose to treat her as his younger sister 13 18 35.
When Kraft considered using her to test dangerous rocket boots, Alice feared not merely destruction but whether a restored memory backup would still be her. This forced Kraft to recognize her as more than programmed behavior and accept her as a genuine younger sister 23.
Kraft later reinforced her body because he no longer regarded her as replaceable and wanted her protected against threats such as the Hulk 25. She subsequently became an older-sister figure to Arale, handling her destructive impulses by teaching her what “good kids” should and should not do 135.
Alice and Arale were abducted into Mephisto's Hell dimension because of their artificial souls. In soul form, Alice lost the advantages of her mechanical body and was easily injured while attempting to protect Arale. Her effort to accept her identity as a robot caused the original wind-up key to manifest on her soul, much to her embarrassment 283 284 285.
Angela later secured official licenses recognizing Alice, Angela, and Arale as free artificial intelligences 280. Alice later entered Alice's Adventures in Wonderland through Kraft's Fairy Tale Robot, choosing the book herself 344.
Appearance
Alice is a humanlike robot girl whose appearance, expressions, behavior, and eating habits make her nearly indistinguishable from an ordinary person once her wind-up key is removed 12 13.
- Her outward appearance is older than Kraft's, despite her position as his younger sister 13.
- Her original body included a detachable wind-up key on her back 12 13.
- Her soul resembles an ordinary human soul so closely that even the Ancient One could not distinguish it from one 215.
- Activating her internal GN solar furnace can cause green particles to leak from her ears and mouth 184.
Personality
Alice is soft, cute, polite, and easily flustered. She is frightened by combat and damage despite being a robot, and initially reacted to dangerous testing with tears and panic 13 23.
She strongly values being treated as Kraft's sister rather than as a tool or maid. Although she dislikes revealing that she is a robot, she gradually confronts that insecurity when her identity becomes central to her survival in Hell 26 230 284.
Her usual clumsiness contrasts with her capability when caring for others. While assisting injured people, she becomes notably assertive and directs both Kraft and Quinn to help 46. She is also patient and protective with Arale, using simple moral guidance to curb Arale's destructive play 135.
Abilities & Skills
Artificial Physiology
Alice possesses a humanlike robotic body with emotions, sensory feedback, and unusual biological imitations such as eating, sleeping, and tearing up while yawning 13.
- Her original combat equipment included rocket-powered fists, though Kraft considered them more decorative than practical 13.
- She has a wrist-mounted Gatling gun and a shoulder-mounted capture-net launcher 13 21.
- She fought alongside Kraft against intruding thugs and can protect herself when necessary 15.
- In soul form, she loses her mechanical advantages and is physically comparable to an ordinary young girl 283.
Force Device
Kraft later installed Force Devices in Alice's upgraded body 184.
- She can create an Anti-Magic Field that suppresses energy-based abilities, including both mystical and technological powers 194.
- She used the field to extinguish Johnny Storm's flames before electrocuting him with a hidden weapon 194.
GN Solar Furnace
Alice has an internal GN solar furnace installed by Kraft 184.
- It provides an internal power source for her upgrades 184.
- Its activation compromises her attempt to appear human by releasing visible green particles from her mouth and ears 184.
Cooking and Caregiving
Alice is an excellent cook who progressed from following recipes to independently developing dishes comparable to those made by professional chefs 18.
- She manages meals and household tasks for Kraft 15 18.
- She volunteers with Martin Lee at the FEAST Homeless Shelter, including helping patients receiving prosthetic limbs 113.
- She adopts a firm, organized demeanor when tending to injured people 46.
Technical Limitation
Alice can reproduce ordinary devices but cannot independently reproduce the supernatural effects of Kraft's dream inventions 18.
- Her independently made sound-effect device functioned as a normal scientific product.
- A qualitative “unscientific” effect emerged only when Kraft participated sufficiently in its creation 18.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Wrist-mounted Gatling gun — Original comedic self-defense armament 13.
- Rocket-powered fists — Original offensive equipment of limited practical value 13.
- Shoulder capture-net launcher — Used to restrain Quinn and Bear during a fight 21.
- Force Devices — Internal upgrade enabling Force Magic applications, including Anti-Magic Field 184 194.
- GN solar furnace — Internal power source installed by Kraft 184.
Relationships
- Kraft Lee — Creator and adoptive older brother. Their relationship shifts when Kraft accepts that her fear of death and concern over identity are genuine, after which he treats her as family rather than replaceable machinery 23 25.
- Martin Lee — “Uncle Martin” and protector. He arranged her identity documents, removed her wind-up mechanism, and works with her at the FEAST shelter 13 113.
- Arale — Younger robot sister under Alice's care. Alice acts as her handler, guardian, and moral guide during Arale's public mischief 131 135.
- Angela — Robot sister. Angela worries about Alice's safety and helped ensure her return from Hell 131 285.
- Quinn and Bear — Her pets and companions. Alice helped introduce them to speech through Kraft's animal-talking scarves and is especially close to Bear 19.
- Peter Parker — Friend who has repeatedly dealt with Arale's behavior. Alice apologizes for Arale's actions and reassures him that she will manage her 135.
- Aunt May and Uncle Ben — Supportive family friends who continue to care for Alice even after learning she is a robot 182.
