Background / History

Creation

Kraft first encountered Arale's design while dreaming of Dr. Senbei Norimaki creating her. Drawn to her name also beginning with “A,” her mischievous nature, and her immense strength, he decided to recreate her as a companion for space travel 130.

Kraft, Angela, and Alice assembled Arale using materials including Gundanium alloy γ and Super Alloy Z. Angela reduced her planned size and added adjustable long-range cameras to her eyes; Arale was activated with nearsightedness and began wearing glasses prepared by Kraft 131.

Her strength immediately exceeded expectations. After the Ancient One showed Kraft a possible feat of Arale breaking Earth and the Moon, the group tested her on an uninhabited planet. Arale split it in half with a single punch 131.

Learning to Be a “Good Child”

Arale's early outings caused repeated damage, including breaking police cars because it was “fun.” Alice found that appeals to Arale's desire to be a good child were the most reliable way to correct her behavior 134 135.

Kraft and Alice established rules specifically forbidding her from splitting Earth, throwing rocks at the Moon, or carrying tall buildings. Less dangerous habits—running around, scribbling, and pretending to be Kamen Rider—were generally tolerated 135.

Because Arale could play endlessly and routinely damage the Cross Vanguard, Kraft created a virtual world where she could release energy more safely. He later launched the NERvGear and made Arale a hidden Dream World NPC whose rewards depended on how satisfied she was with players who spent time with her 148 192.

Public Recognition and Independence

Angela secured official free-artificial-intelligence licenses for herself, Alice, and Arale, allowing them legal recognition rather than requiring them to hide as machines 280.

Arale gradually became able to go out with fewer incidents. Her appearance, optimism, and Dream World NPC popularity earned her a fan club, while authorities discreetly monitored her and occasionally assigned superheroes to play with her 281.

Appearance

Arale presents as a small purple-haired girl, described as appearing roughly seven or eight years old. She commonly wears glasses due to her nearsighted visual system and is often seen in overalls 131 157 283 288.

  • Her head can be removed and reattached without harm. 143 288
  • Exposed mechanical components are visible when her head is detached. 288
  • She can use alternate mechanical bodies, though even weak bodies inherit abnormal durability, speed, and strength. 144
  • In Dream World, she can manifest as a giant version of herself in a silver-white suit with red markings. 210

Personality

Arale is cheerful, energetic, curious, and intensely playful. She treats hostile encounters, hostage situations, and battles as games, often greeting opponents with “How are you?” before attacking or causing trouble 236 279.

Praise matters greatly to her. She is easily delighted when Kraft, Alice, Angela, or others call her a good child, and she frequently seeks further approval after defeating an opponent 174 236 305.

Her destructive behavior is usually not malicious. Arale has an internal “good child instinct” that discourages her from killing others, even when she attacks with overwhelming force 144 248. She is especially protective when Alice is harmed, becoming angry enough to attack Mephisto in Hell despite being separated from her physical body 283.

Abilities & Skills

Conceptual Strength and Star Breaker

Arale's strength is not fully dependent on her body materials; it functions as an unscientific setting. Her “Star Breaker” remains capable of splitting a planet even when she uses a weak mechanical body 144.

  • Split an uninhabited planet in half with one punch. 131
  • Cracked Ego's planet by striking the ground, destabilizing Ego's core. 165
  • Easily subdued Fenrir and treated the giant wolf as a toy. 248
  • Sent Thanos and Captain Marvel flying with a single slap, then launched Thanos into space with a headbutt. 279
  • Defeated Silver Surfer with one punch and overwhelmed Galactus with physical force. 334 336

Speed and Mobility

Arale can move at extreme speed, often before opponents can react.

  • Ran across America and the Pacific Ocean, unintentionally overwhelming Quicksilver in a race. 189
  • Can break the sound barrier even in a virtual world where her listed statistics are reduced to single digits. 148
  • Can leap to targets moving at near-Quicksilver speed, as shown when intercepting Silver Surfer. 334

Durability and Self-Repair

Arale routinely withstands attacks that should destroy or incapacitate ordinary machines.

  • Remained unharmed after falling from the sky during the confrontation with Ego. 165
  • Was unaffected by a wind blast that should have caused pain. 141
  • Continued laughing after Ghost Rider severed her head, then used her detached head as a weapon. 288
  • Hellfire could not burn even the loose threads of her ordinary-fabric overalls. 288

Hello Cannon

Arale can fire an orange-yellow beam from her mouth, usually after greeting her target.

  • Destroyed an unknown energy concentration in the sky and dispersed the surrounding clouds. 174
  • Blasted Ghost Rider away while detached from her body. 288
  • Used the technique alongside physical attacks against Galactus. 336

Good Child Instinct

Arale's morality acts as a practical restraint on her destructive power.

  • She does not easily intend to kill people; opponents sent flying by her attacks generally survive the initial impact. 144
  • Kraft avoids using her against opponents when doing so might force her to violate her principle of never killing a life form. 248
  • Ghost Rider's Eye of Judgment found no sins in her because Arale sincerely believed herself to be an exceptionally good child. 288

Soul-Based Abilities

Arale's anomalous traits persist even without a mechanical body.

  • When her soul was drawn out with the Soul Stone's power, she could also pull out other souls. 215
  • She can see souls that have separated from their bodies, though not souls still inside a body. 215
  • Retained her strength and speed in soul form, allowing her to punch Mephisto through a mountainside in Hell. 283 284
  • Her self-perception—that her strength has always belonged to her—is believed to be why her power manifests through her soul. 284

Mechanical Assimilation

Any mechanical object fitted with Arale's head becomes her body and falls under her control.

  • A normal humanoid mobile suit gained exaggerated strength and durability when fitted with her head. 144
  • She forcibly attached her head to Ghost Rider's Hellcycle, overriding its connection to Zatannos and taking control of it. 288
  • While controlling the Hellcycle, she could use its Hellfire and travel through its fiery portals. 288

King of Hell

After defeating Dormammu in Hell, Arale acquired the title and authority of King of Hell.

  • Hell's creatures began acknowledging her power after she defeated Dormammu. 290
  • She received knowledge and permissions connected to Hell, though she struggled to understand them. 291
  • She could sense Hell's power and instinctively expel Dormammu's Dark Dimension influence from the realm. 291
  • Her new authority removed Mephisto's status as Hell's ruling Dimensional Lord. 291
