Luo Fan recalled the updated requirements for awakening a Sequence.
One was to secrete adrenaline through fear, forcibly breaking the shackles of one's physical limits.
Just as there had been plenty of news reports before the apocalypse, such as a woman lifting something she normally could never have lifted to save her son.
There was also an ancient tale of a military officer who mistook a rock for a wild beast at night and shot an arrow at it. Only the next day did he discover his mistake, but when asked to shoot another arrow that could penetrate so deeply into stone, he could no longer do it.
Ordinarily, people would flee in fear even from crazed cats and dogs, but in a genuine life-or-death crisis, they could turn into terrifying upright apes, firmly joining the ranks of savage beasts.
All of this pointed to a special substance in the human body: adrenaline.
It could be secreted in large quantities during a crisis, giving people a superhuman sort of evolution.
This was also a prerequisite for awakening a Sequence.
The other requirement was the death of a Weird.
The initial version of the awakening information held that someone had to secrete adrenaline through fear and then personally kill a Weird for a chance to awaken.
After the update, it no longer said they had to kill one personally. A Weird dying nearby was enough.
When a Weird died, the Weird energy in its body dispersed and was absorbed by someone who had secreted adrenaline and broken the restraints on their physical limits, awakening their Sequence.
Rose's awakening had happened exactly that way, for example.
Luo Fan also felt that this later, updated version was the most accurate.
Why? Because when Sequence Users fought, especially when they killed Weirds, their Sequence
