Knock, knock, knock.
Led there by a Chunin, Setsuna politely knocked on the Hokage's office door.
"Come in!"
Creeeak.
Setsuna pushed the door open and saw the Fourth Hokage, Danzo, sitting behind his desk with the Shadow Hat on his head.
"Elder Setsuna, you're here. Please, take a seat."
Danzo kept smiling and gestured toward a chair beside him.
Even the Uchiha's biggest hardliner knows to knock. Looks like we've been far too lenient with the Sarutobi, Danzo thought.
"Was there something you wished to discuss, Lord Hokage, calling me here specifically today?"
Setsuna sat down and got straight to the point.
"Two things!"
Danzo liked this sort of direct conversation too. He raised two fingers and waved them.
"I see most of the Uchiha's fighting strength has applied to go to the Land of Wind battlefield!"
"I won't give you empty platitudes, Elder Setsuna. Apart from Fugaku serving as a Konoha elder, none of your members hold important posts."
"This is the appointment document for captain of the Third ANBU Division. Take it back, fill in a name, and have him report to the acting ANBU commander."
Danzo took a document from his drawer and placed it before Setsuna.
Eighty percent of the Uchiha's young and able-bodied adults had gone to the battlefield. Danzo even thought those Uchiha alone could just about crush Sunagakure. Sending the Western Front forces really was something of a waste.
With the Uchiha contributing to Konoha so enthusiastically, Danzo naturally had to show some appreciation, though he knew what those Uchiha were thinking.
But unless they were Uchiha he had trained himself, Danzo would never let them rise to power. That was his final sticking point.
"Thank you, Lord Hokage!"
Setsuna picked up the appointment letter with both hands, rather overwhelmed by the favor.
