Cuizhi led Takahashi Yū into the Yuki Clan Head's small building. Ice formed a human-shaped "prosthetic" where his lower leg had been severed.
Watching Cuizhi limp ahead of him, clearly still unused to it, Takahashi Yū felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.
"What's your name?"
"My lord, Cuizhi. Haku Cuizhi."
A little light bulb flashed above Takahashi Yū's head, and he smacked his fist into his palm in front of his chest.
Used ice. Had a bad leg.
Could it be you?
"From now on, you're called Aokiji!"
"Huh?"
Cuizhi was puzzled. Did these brutes rename their prisoners after accepting their surrender?
When Takahashi Yū turned a "vicious" gaze on him, he quickly nodded.
"Yes, my lord."
Aokiji pushed open the door and took a map of the Land of Water, which the Yuki Clan had refined up to the present day, from a cabinet inside.
Takahashi Yū pulled out the chair at the table and sat down, squeezing both armrests off and turning it into a little stool.
"Aokiji, get me some paper and a pen!"
"Yes, my lord."
He spread the map of the Land of Water across the table. Some of its drawings and annotations were old, others new, and there were plenty of revisions.
This had to be a map that generations of the Yuki Clan had continually refined. Quite reliable!
Laying the paper Aokiji brought flat on the table, Takahashi Yū chewed on the end of the pen in frustration. How should he begin?

With a sigh, Takahashi Yū wrote the first sentence on the paper in his crooked handwriting:
