Hiruzen Sarutobi whipped his head around and glared furiously at Shimura Danzō, his eyes filled with disbelief.
He could not believe Shimura Danzō would attack Uchiha Gen so openly. His original plan had been for Shimura Danzō to enter Uchiha Gen's dreams and eliminate him without anyone noticing.
But now...
Looking at the flames on the horizon, visible to almost the entire village, Hiruzen Sarutobi felt dizzy. Everything had happened so suddenly that he had not even had time to consider how to deal with the aftermath.
"I didn't do much. I just gave him a hand. This... may be one of the few things I can do as the person called Shimura Danzō."
Shimura Danzō spoke quietly, his expression calm.
"Danzo? What have you done? Hiruzen, what on earth is going on here? What happened?"
Seeing Hiruzen Sarutobi's sudden fury, Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura beside him were bewildered. For the moment, they had no idea what had happened.
They had, however, heard the explosion outside, and it most likely had something to do with Shimura Danzō.
"Gave him a hand?! Have you forgotten who you are?!"
At Shimura Danzō's words, the anger on Hiruzen Sarutobi's face gave way to disbelief.
He could not understand why this Shimura Danzō, whom he had created himself, would want to help an Uchiha.
"Who I am? How could I forget? I've remembered who I am from the moment I was born. I am Shimura Danzō, Shimura Danzō of Konoha, disciple of the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju.
"And I am also the one who inherited Kagami Uchiha's will... Hiruzen, I really should thank you. Thank you for giving me Kagami's eye as well. Seeing through all truths... the power of this eye is far beyond your imagination."
Shimura Danzō gently raised his hand
