Background
Stussy was created by MADS as a clone of Buckingham Stussy, a former subordinate of the Rocks Pirates. She was also Vegapunk’s sleeper agent within the World Government. Before her formal induction into CP0, Saint Dio requested her from the Five Elders and secured her as his personal subordinate 1.
The arrangement served competing purposes: Dio needed a professional aide, while the Five Elders wanted someone close enough to monitor and protect him. Although Stussy retained her CP0 position, she became Dio’s private subordinate in practice. Over years at his side, her allegiance shifted away from Vegapunk and toward Dio, who knew her original identity from the beginning 1 2 11.
She became one of the few people entrusted with Dio’s intention to destroy the Celestial Dragons. Her familiarity with his plans allowed her to recognize his concealed hostility and warn him when it threatened to show publicly 2.
Appearance
- Physical features: Golden curls, lake-blue eyes, fair skin, a doll-like face, and a curvaceous build 1 2 3.
- CP0 uniform: A fitted white dress with a pink bowtie, white suspender stockings, matching heels and gloves, and a white cape 1.
- Vampire features: Sharp canine teeth and large bat wings; she can also assume a bat’s form or disperse into a swarm 2 3 9.
- Sabaody disguise: A cream-colored shirt, light coffee-colored shorts, wide-brimmed sun hat, and sunglasses, presenting herself as a wealthy vacationer 30.
- Wano disguise: A dark-blue kimono with pale floral patterns, a dark-brown sash, and a simple bun secured with a white jade hairpin 43.
Personality
Stussy combines a cold professional manner with a playful, teasing disposition. She can shift immediately from private informality into the composed bearing of a CP0 operative. Her intimidation of sailors discussing Dio demonstrates her willingness to invoke lethal authority; she spares them because Dio would disregard their remarks, not because she objects to executing them 2 4.
Her loyalty is practical as well as personal. She anticipates Dio’s intentions, prepares for orders before he gives them, and deliberately develops abilities that make her indispensable to his plans. She regards intelligence gathering and support as more valuable contributions than competing with his frontline fighters 15.
She is also a calculated manipulator. Stussy uses psychological pressure, reassuring behavior, propaganda, and supernatural influence to create dependence on Dio. Her orchestration of the Kongoukaku crisis shows her willingness to manufacture danger to strengthen his authority 13 19 25.
Despite her confidence, she recognizes threats to her expertise. Otohime’s ability to discern her intentions leaves her frustrated, and she responds with rueful humor after learning that the queen can read thoughts 34 35.
Abilities & Skills
Bat-Bat Fruit, Model: Vampire
The Mythical Zoan expands Stussy’s existing bat abilities with vampire traits. She develops it primarily for healing, reconnaissance, and infiltration rather than head-on combat 3 15.
- Flight and transformation: Flies using large bat wings, assumes a small bat form, or separates into dozens of bats to evade attacks 3 9 43.
- Blood draining: Bat bites rapidly weaken the Kuja captain; she later kills Hody Jones by draining his blood 9 36.
- Blood-created scouts: Converts pools of blood into crimson bats. A battlefield’s abundant blood allows her to create an exceptionally large reconnaissance swarm 15.
- Sensory relay: Receives her scouts’ observations through blood resonance, allowing her to survey distant settlements and track targets 21.
Life-Energy Healing
Stussy can return stored life energy through her fangs to heal another person’s injuries 10.
- Repairs deep wounds and restores unscarred skin.
- Heals Dio’s chest wound and lesser injuries in approximately a dozen seconds.
- Draws on energy accumulated through drinking blood rather than conventional medical treatment 10.
Blood Servants
By introducing her blood into human bodies, Stussy can exert influence over their actions 19.
- Uses influenced residents to spread accounts of Dio’s supposed divinity throughout Kongoukaku 19.
- Makes Munechika Shikishima a blood thrall; he subsequently wakes without remembering her attack 20.
- Converts Mima Karyotori into a thrall and uses him to trigger the crisis that consolidates Dio’s authority 25.
- Limit: The technique is explicitly described as influence rather than complete thought control 19.
CP0 Tradecraft
Stussy is trained in intelligence gathering, infiltration, assassination, protection, psychology, rhetoric, and hypnotic suggestion 13 15.
- Persuasion and indoctrination: Reshapes the enslaved Boa sisters’ beliefs through carefully managed dependence and sustained messaging 13.
- Disguise: Blends into Sabaody as a vacationer and adapts to Wano’s clothing and customs 30 43.
- Surveillance: Memorizes building layouts, guard rotations, street geography, and pedestrian movements 43 45.
- Covert entry: Infiltrates the Ringo daimyo’s residence as an apparently ordinary bat. By avoiding aggression and killing intent, she does not alert the guards’ Observation Haki 43.
Her fruit-enhanced intelligence network becomes unrivaled within CP0 in the Five Elders’ assessment, making them reluctant to lose access to her capabilities 26.
Six Powers and Physical Combat
Stussy remains dangerous in direct encounters despite her support-oriented specialization 9 18 36.
- Rankyaku: Launches an airborne slash from her leg, inflicting a deep chest wound on the Kuja captain 9.
- Soru: Teaches Mumei the high-speed movement technique that she later uses against Mima 21 24.
- Speed: Repeatedly moves beyond Mumei’s ability to follow and catches her despite her evasive agility 18.
- Strength: Stops Hody Jones’s trident with one hand and prevents him from pulling it free 36.
- Precision: Cuts a prisoner’s gag with a small, invisible blade of air 42.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Sabaody and the Boa Sisters
- Reports the Kuja Pirates’ approach, prepares Dio’s ship, and scouts the traffickers targeting Hancock and her sisters 1 4.
- Completes the sisters’ purchase and escorts them away in explosive collars 5.
- Defeats their rescuing captain with bat transformation, blood draining, and Rankyaku as Area 26 collapses 9.
- Heals Dio and removes the sisters’ explosive collars on his orders 10.
- Gives the Five Elders an account prepared with Dio, securing their acceptance of his actions. Saturn nevertheless warns her to remember her duty to monitor him 11.
- Oversees the sisters’ coercive indoctrination during their deserted-island training, using food, medicine, and reassurance to turn enforced dependence into worship 13.
Kabaneri World and Kongoukaku
- Scouts the unfamiliar world with blood bats, locating the railway and approaching Kotetsujō 15.
- Presents Dio as a god sent to save humanity from the Kabane, persuading Ayame and the train’s passengers to accept his party 17.
- Begins training Mumei in the Six Powers 18 21.
- Establishes a propaganda network, subordinates Munechika and Mima through blood-thrall abilities, and manipulates Kabane attack routes to concentrate survivors at Kongoukaku 19 20 25.
- Engineers the invasion as a controlled crisis intended to establish Dio’s divine authority and unite the remaining human forces under him 25.
Doflamingo and the Return to Sabaody
- Delivers Dio’s request that Vice Admiral Tsuru abandon her pursuit of Doflamingo; the Five Elders approve the intervention 26.
- Invites Doflamingo aboard Dio’s ship and becomes responsible for liaison, intelligence support, and surveillance of his organization and personnel 27.
- Identifies Blamenco and the Pocket Pirates as targets during Dio’s next Sabaody visit 28 30.
Fish-Man Island
- Attempts to open negotiations with Otohime but is dismissed from the discussion when the queen’s thought-reading threatens to expose additional secrets 34 35.
- Kills Hody Jones and investigates the octopus Fish-Man possessing a Devil Fruit 35 36.
- Gains Shyarly’s cooperation with pastries, obtains information about Vander Decken IX, and brings her to Ryugu Palace 37.
- Recognizes Shyarly’s prophetic potential as valuable for intelligence work and offers to teach her and show her the wider world 37.
- Retrieves a historic sword from Ryugu Palace’s treasury and handles preparations for departure 40.
Wano Country
- Directs the ship toward Wano using an Eternal Pose obtained by Saint Gunko 41.
- Infiltrates Ringo with Mumei, identifies Shimotsuki Ushimaru as the local daimyo, and maps his residence 43.
- Steals enough local currency to support the group, orders inconspicuous kimonos, and books an inn 44 45.
- Accompanies Dio to the Flower Capital while continuing to record the city’s layout and activity 45.
