Background / History
Fang Yue begins as a transmigrator from the modern era who awakens in the body of Fang Zhi'er, a young man in Daliushu Village of the Wei Kingdom. His early life is poor and rural: he herds a water buffalo, misses meat and modern comforts, and tries to supplement his diet by fishing in the Xiahe River 1.
His turning point comes when he saves Fang Ergou and gains God-Tier Aptitude, a daily aptitude-growth talent. Fang Hu later recognizes his physical potential, takes him toward Xiahe County Town, and decides to accept him as a disciple after seeing his exceptional martial talent 1 14 16 17.
Fang Yue’s motivation hardens after he witnesses Imperial Army brutality on the road. He realizes that martial strength is the only reliable protection in a chaotic world where common lives can be discarded casually 19.
Under Fang Hu, then through the White Tiger Martial Arts School, Fang Yue advances from Skin Tempering to Bone Forging and Marrow Cleansing/Refining. His success as a Martial Scholar and then Imperial Martial Candidate transforms the Fang Family’s status, bringing tax exemptions, land donations, marriage proposals, and resentment from former rivals 30 50 61 83 84 154.
His path later expands beyond village martial arts. He studies Qi cultivation through Fu Qi Yang Sheng Gong and Wutu True Art, breaks through to Qi Sensing, joins official structures such as the Imperial Observatory, and becomes entangled with court factions, the Shadow Society, the Blood Dragon Platform, and multiple noble families 139 151 170 180 225 274.
As the story widens, Fang Yue repeatedly becomes the target of powerful forces because of his strength, inheritances, and destiny-related treasures. He survives assassinations, conspiracies, ambushes, and imperial pursuit while continuing to seek stronger techniques and protect his family 234 238 264 285 340 350.
By the later arcs, he is recognized across the Human and Demon Realms as “Human Grandmaster Fang Yue.” He fights Demon Kings, cultivates True Spirit techniques, enters Demon Realm conflicts, and eventually breaks beyond Great Grandmaster into the Supreme Expert realm 393 484 553 571.
Appearance
Fang Yue is repeatedly described as ordinary or average-looking in public, but martial cultivation transforms his body into something visibly powerful. During training, he wears short martial clothing that exposes a sturdy frame, and later scenes emphasize his tall, imposing battlefield presence 66 185 553.

- By age twenty-five, he registers in Great Jin while deliberately concealing his true cultivation method 528.
- Later appears like a “descending god of war” after defeating a Black Robed Figure 553.
Personality
Fang Yue is cautious by default. He refuses risky fights even when large rewards are involved, avoids suspicious objects such as unknown tokens, distrusts empty oaths, and repeatedly investigates before committing himself 58 83 220 225.
He is protective toward family and the weak. He saves Fang Ergou, tries to rescue children from a runaway convoy, intervenes against kidnappers and traffickers, rescues Lin Yue'e, and repeatedly prioritizes his family’s safety even when powerful enemies target him 1 3 142 159 180 251 350.
His mercy has limits. Against enemies who threaten him or his family, he is decisive and often ruthless: he kills Wang Yuangang and Wang Teng, eliminates the Mountain Eagle and his bandits, destroys Black Mountain Sect protectors, and states through action that leniency can become fatal in the cultivation world 83 264 402 464.
Fang Yue is principled but independent. He refuses to be used as Yun Qing’s pawn, rejects King Wucheng’s recruitment into rebellion, and insists on judging court affairs for himself rather than following factional rhetoric 243 310.
