Yang Chan is Great Chu's Marquis of Champion, a powerful Great Grandmaster with a long-running ambition to unite Great Chu and Great Wei under his own rule. He maintains hidden bases, commands Black-Clad Knights and other loyal experts, and treats political peace as subordinate to his personal pursuit of power. 416 417 420 424

Before his direct conflict with Fang Yue, Yang Chan concealed the Jade Book in one of his secret bases. The book's energy can erode a cultivator's vital-energy foundation and potentially place them under another's control; Fang Yue suspects that grandmasters stationed at the base were controlled through it. 416

He attempts to seize Zhu Linlang and publicly spreads news of an impending betrothal to the Great Wei Empress.
