Either he had no use for them or he already had them, but given these people's strength, he couldn't expect too much.
The quality of the items was related to the person's own strength.
It wasn't determined by chakra, but by overall strength. The stronger someone was overall, the better their items were; conversely, the weaker they were, the worse the items.
Hyuga Akira sat on the chair the village chief had brought over.
After all, the older should do more work. Although the village chief was getting on in years, more exercise was good for his health.
A Wandering Ninja dressed in villagers' clothes was kneeling before him, speaking to Hyuga Akira with a face full of regret.
"We didn't want to do this either, but Konoha has gone crazy, constantly driving us out. We wanted to go to the Land of Rain, but Konoha's people are all along the border. We only planned to find this village and hide here for a while."
The man before him wept bitterly. They had only wanted to wait for things to blow over. Who knew they would end up waiting for a killer to arrive?
Does his family know he's this good at killing people?
He silently grumbled to himself, not daring to say it aloud. If he did, he reckoned he would be done for too.
"So, are there actually bandits around here?" Hyuga Akira interrupted his regretful words.
"Huh?" The man stared blankly at Hyuga Akira.
Just how big a grudge do you have against bandits? You're still thinking about them at a time like this?
Now he actually believed the other party was a Bounty Ninja.
"Y-yes." The village chief beside them said quietly, "What I said was true. Those bandits keep robbing vehicles passing through."
The man glared furiously at the village chief for stealing his credit.
Hyuga Akira nodded. "Then you're no use anymore."
"Huh?!" The man's eyes widened. Seriously, you don't have any other intentions? If I'd known, I should have cursed you out earlier. Now it's too late.
A blade swept across the Wandering Ninja's neck, and his large head rolled onto the ground, eyes glaring wide with disbelief still in them.
You kill people that decisively? Don't you want to find out anything else?
He could no longer ask any of those questions.
"Clean up." Hyuga Akira patted the village chief on the shoulder.
Although the village chief was nearly scared to death, he forced himself to remain calm and soon called people over to clean up the entire area.
Their crisis had finally passed now... right?
The village chief gave Hyuga Akira a doubtful look.
"Find me somewhere to rest." Hyuga Akira simply acted as though he hadn't seen it. He had only happened to come to this village.
The village chief didn't dare disobey and led Hyuga Akira into a vacant house.
"Sir, if you need anything, please let me know," the village chief said humbly.
After all, those few Wandering Ninja had already been more than they could handle.
Now someone even more ruthless had arrived, and he didn't look easy to get along with either.
Hyuga Akira waved him out. He wasn't in the mood to exchange pleasantries with him.
Seeing this, the village chief went out through the doorway and slowly closed the door.
The night passed without incident.
Hyuga Akira left the village in the morning. After getting detailed information about the bandits from the village chief, he headed straight toward the stronghold the chief had described.
"If I still can't farm it, I'll have to give up."
The bandit set could last him until level thirty, and other sets weren't easy to farm either.
He quickened his pace and followed the main road until he spotted people hiding on both sides.
He didn't have to think to know they were those bandits.
"Byakugan!"
After activating his Byakugan, Hyuga Akira could no longer maintain the Transformation Technique and returned to his original appearance.
Veins bulged around his eyes, his pupils turned snow-white, and Shuriken appeared between the fingers of both hands.
"Pulling the mobs!!"
He leaped high into the air and hurled the Shuriken at the bandits below.
"Shuriken: Heavy Fire: Heavenly Maiden Scattering Flowers!"
Whooshes cut through the air, and a group of bandits looked up in confusion.
The scattered Shuriken blossomed like flowers in the sky, covering all of them as they rained down wildly.
They fell like raindrops.
There was nowhere for them to dodge.
"Aaaargh!" Screams rang out without pause.
Soon, the screams faded, leaving only corpses strewn across the ground. Hyuga Akira flipped and landed.
"Shinobi really do completely overpower ordinary people."
More than a dozen notifications flashed before Hyuga Akira's eyes.
Total: [Experience: 123] [Money: 30 ryo]
His eyes quickly swept over the bandits' corpses. Ordinary people generally had very low drop rates, but these dozen or so people had still dropped three items.
[Bandit's ring: increases chakra by 20] [Lesser Life Potion] [Lesser Life Potion]
"Two health potions. Finally got some potion drops." Hyuga Akira took out a Low-Level Life Potion. It was a pale red liquid contained in a laboratory test tube.
In the original game, there would usually be people selling health potions.
But in reality, the merchants who had originally sold health potions didn't sell this stuff at all.
These were essential items for farming mobs.
There were energy potions too.
The drop rates of these two potions weren't particularly low, and all humanoid mobs had a chance of dropping them.
"I just haven't farmed enough." Hyuga Akira sighed regretfully. He couldn't even farm mobs freely now.
Putting the two potions away, he got his bearings toward the bandits.
His figure shot forward in a straight line as he charged into the mountain forest.
Wooden fences had been erected throughout the mountain forest, with scrawny bandits patrolling.
Hyuga Akira flitted through the mountain forest like a ghost, his Byakugan locking onto every bandit as the Shuriken in his hands became the Grim Reaper's scythe.
He swiftly reaped the bandits' lives.
[Experience: 10] [Money: 3 ryo] [Experience: 8] [Money: 5 ryo]
Notifications flashed rapidly before his eyes.
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
Bandits fell to the ground one after another, clutching their necks. The Shuriken fired from the woods were astonishingly fast; all they could hear was the rush of air.
Their companions dropped to the ground one after another.
"What's happening?! What the hell is happening?!!!"
One man was so frightened that he collapsed straight onto the ground. He watched figure after figure fall, and a companion right beside him toppled onto him, spraying him with blood.
With terror on his face, he felt a pain in his neck, then saw a dark figure flash past before his vision plunged into darkness.
Hyuga Akira reached out and picked up equipment from a fallen corpse.
[Bandit's left leg guard: movement speed +5]
"Another duplicate."
Hyuga Akira continued moving swiftly up the mountain, constantly reaping bandits' lives.
His actions finally alerted all the bandits that something was wrong.
"Enemy attack!!!" A shrill cry rang throughout the mountain.
"Who is it?!" The bandit chief darted down the mountain. Chains were wrapped around his body, and he held an iron ball connected to those chains.
Chapter 32: Finally reached the destination
He soon saw the culprit: a youth dressed in white, with bulging veins around his eyes and snow-white pupils.
"The Hyuga Clan!" The chief was an educated man too. He recognized the other party's identity at once from that classic appearance.
After all, only that one family in Konoha had naturally white pupils.
Hyuga Akira didn't answer and hurled Shuriken at the chief.
"Shuriken: Heavy Firepower: Fireball!"
A row of fireballs shot toward the chief at tremendous speed, forcing him to hastily raise the iron ball in his hand to block them.
"Clang, clang, clang!!"
Metallic clashes rang out as the force transmitted through the iron ball pushed the bandit chief backward again and again.
Soon, the commotion died away. He was just about to move the iron ball aside to check the situation when Hyuga Akira was already standing on it.
The blade in his hand swept swiftly across the bandit chief's neck, sending his large head soaring into the air.
The bandit chief hadn't even had time to use a single ninjutsu.
[Experience: 112] [Bandit's Armor: increases defense by 15]
"Only one drop. What a useless boss." Hyuga Akira curled his lip. Pushing off with his foot, he charged straight toward the bandits in another direction, showing no intention of stopping as he continued clearing the entire mountain.
The bandits who realized something was wrong immediately chose to flee. Everywhere on the mountain that offered a way out, people were desperately running away.
A living god of death had come to their mountain, killing everyone he saw without even giving them a chance to talk.
If you're unhappy about something, just say it! If you tell us, we'll definitely change! Why won't you let us go?
Who goes straight for the kill like this?
(Hyuga Akira: Players do.)
Although Hyuga Akira was already making the most of his time, he still couldn't keep up with their escape. Everyone fled desperately, giving him no chance to strike.
As long as they ran fast enough, death couldn't catch them.
It had to be said that they had made a very wise decision.
[Experience: 677] [Money: 78]
Corpses littered the entire mountain. Everyone who could run had already fled, while Hyuga Akira doubled back to retrieve the Shuriken he had thrown. They all cost money.
There were also quite a few items dropped while he farmed mobs.
[Bandit's necklace: increases chakra recovery speed by 10] [Bandit's left hand guard: increases strength by 5] [Money pouch: open to receive a random amount of 10-100 ryo] [Bandit's right hand guard: ...] [Bandit's right leg guard: ...]
"Finally got the full set." Hyuga Akira put on the necklace, ring, and left hand guard.
New information appeared on his panel.
