Chapters 801–804 Vol. 9 Read

Ch. 801Boss, if you're not satisfied, there's still time to back out...

Yang Yong discovered that Mang Dabiao had negotiated a symbiotic contract with the Twin Green Snakes trapped in the Ancient Well. He ordered Mang Dabiao to change the agreement so he could sign it himself.

  • A giant snake emerged from a hole in the ground, greeted Yang Yong as Mang Dabiao, and dodged his punch when he struck at it.
  • Yang Yong pinned Mang Dabiao down and learned that it had gone into the Ancient Well, where cold air and strange sounds were rising.
  • Mang Dabiao explained that the Twin Green Snakes were Little Green in the well water and Qingyun, whose remnant soul was sealed inside a stone.
  • Mang Dabiao told Yang Yong it had negotiated a symbiotic contract in which the snakes would help guard and modify the Ancient Well's formation while Yang Yong restored Qingyun's body.
  • Yang Yong learned Mang Dabiao had already signed the contract using his aura and ordered it to change the agreement so he could sign with the snakes directly.

Ch. 802There... seemed to be someone walking in the fields

Yang Yong set strict terms for Little Green and Qingyun in the Ancient Well, then sensed that something dangerous remained sealed beneath the Ancient Tomb. When a scream sounded at the village’s edge, he found evidence that someone had been dragged through a wall by a creature, and his lighter began to bleed.

  • Yang Yong established rules for Little Green and Qingyun’s Symbiotic Contract, including requiring Qingyun’s remnant soul to remain dormant.
  • Yang Yong sensed a force churning beneath the Ancient Tomb’s ninth level and wondered whether the village’s defenses could stop it if it escaped.
  • Two young men on night watch heard footsteps in the cornfields, and a scream was cut off nearby.
  • Yang Yong rushed to an adobe house and found claw marks, dark green slime, blood trails, and a fingernail beside a crack in the wall.
  • Yang Yong saw something writhe inside the crack as his lighter lit itself with a ghostly green flame and its engraved snake began to bleed.

Ch. 803Something Unknown

Yang Yong investigated Zhang Weifeng’s disappearance and found a room full of blood but no body or detectable eerie presence. After half a month without another incident, the village continued its work until Cao Xianming summoned everyone with sequence transcendence to the courtyard.

  • Yang Yong followed a blood trail to the village crossroads, where he found only a faint sticky residue and no eerie qi.
  • Xiao Ma identified Zhang Weifeng as the man assigned to the bloodied room and described him as easy to overlook; Cao Xianming could not calculate what had happened.
  • Yang Yong found far more blood than a human body could contain, concluded Zhang Weifeng had been drained and taken away, and ordered Yezi to spread vines across the village as a warning network.
  • Yang Yong told the villagers that Zhang Weifeng was dead and ordered continued patrols, but nothing strange happened for fifteen days.
  • Huang Santainai rebuilt the Dragon-Trapping Formation into a fortress, assisted by Qingyun and the little green snake, while Yang Yong forged Qingyun a pendant.
  • Cao Xianming called everyone with sequence transcendence into the courtyard.

Ch. 804One Thing Was Certain... Something Had Gotten In

Yang Yong discovered that an unseen force was drawing three attacked convoys toward the village while a strange trace seeped from the direction of the Ancient Well. He identified Little Green’s aura in the trace and suspected something was trying to open the Demon-Suppressing Ancient Tomb on the ninth level.

  • Cao Xianming reported Zhang Weifeng’s death and said an undetected being had killed him, drunk his blood, and taken his body.
  • Wan Qi reported that three convoys were fighting in different directions, and Yang Yong concluded someone was herding them toward the village.
  • Yang Yong planned to admit the first convoy and make the others wait outside, warning that the village’s defenses could not withstand all three groups and their pursuers at once.
  • Yang Yong questioned whether the thing that killed Zhang Weifeng was Eerie, then saw a faint trace blacken the moss as it crept into the courtyard from the Ancient Well.
  • Yang Yong sent Cao Xianming to summon Huang Santainai and found Little Green’s aura in a tiny granule left by the trace.
  • Yang Yong concluded that something was trying to open the Demon-Suppressing Ancient Tomb on the ninth level.
