(I made a few small changes to some unreasonable parts in the previous chapter!)
The sand on Gaara's body began moving unconsciously, and killing intent gathered in his eyes.
No one had ever dared speak to him like that.
"I'm going to... kill you..."
"Kankuro, Temari."
Both sides stood ready to fight, the confrontation on the verge of erupting.
Thwack!
A pebble shot through the air with a piercing whistle, striking the very hand Kankuro was about to use to grab the puppet on his back.
Pain shot through the back of Kankuro's hand, forcing him to stop.
Everyone looked toward the sound.
Sasuke sat on the trunk of a tall tree, tossing another pebble in his hand, his expression cold.
"Making a scene in someone else's village-is this what passes for manners in Sunagakure?"
Sasuke crushed the pebble in his hand, and powder spilled between his fingers.
Kankuro clutched the back of his hand, his expression as ugly as could be.
Below him was that freakishly strong brat who had snapped Crow's fingers, and above him was that posturing Uchiha.
Being caught between them annoyed him immensely.
"Another one of these obnoxious brats..."
Kankuro gritted his teeth. The bandages around the puppet on his back loosened with a series of clicks.
The sand on Gaara's body began moving without any wind, coiling around his feet like a venomous snake ready to strike.
Naruto tightened his grip on his kunai, his palm slick with sweat.
Sakura shielded Konohamaru, not daring to breathe loudly.
Son Goten, the very center of the conflict, completely ignored the "play along with me" look Sasuke sent him from overhead, paying no attention to the killing intent of the boy with dark circles around his eyes opposite him, either.
He strode on his short little legs straight through the center of the standoff.
He ignored Kankuro and ignored Gaara.
Only when he reached the blonde girl carrying an enormous iron fan on her back did he stop.
Temari stood with her arms crossed, watching the little fellow who had walked up to her with a wary expression.
Son Goten tilted his head up.
There was no helping it. He was only ten, and his head only reached Temari's chest.
From this angle, he had a perfect view of the girl's impressive curves.
"What do you want?"
Temari frowned, her hand involuntarily reaching toward the Three Star Fan on her back.
She had seen the brat snap the puppet apart with his bare hands perfectly clearly.
Son Goten didn't answer.
First, he sniffed, catching the unique scent of windblown sand and blazing sunlight mingled on the girl.
Then he raised his little hand, sticky with dumpling syrup, and pointed at the fan on Temari's back, which was taller than she was.
"Miss, can I borrow that fan?"
Son Goten blinked his big eyes, his face all innocence.
"Huh?"
Temari froze.
At a tense moment like this, the brat had come over to borrow her fan?
"What do you need a fan for?"
Temari blurted out the question.
"It's hot."
Son Goten fanned himself with his hand, his eyes wandering over Temari's bare thighs and waist. His lips spread into a meaningful grin.
"Seeing a beauty as gorgeous as you sent the fire inside me flaring right up."
"It's too big. I can't keep it down."
"I need to borrow a big fan to cool that fire."
For a moment, the surroundings were so quiet that a pin dropping could have been heard.
Naruto's mouth fell open, and the kunai in his hand nearly dropped onto his foot.
Sasuke's foot slipped in the tree, and he nearly lost his balance.
Was this flirting?
This was definitely flirting!
Making that kind of double entendre to a female ninja from Sunagakure, right in front of her two vicious-looking teammates?
Temari's face instantly flushed red.
As the Kazekage's daughter, when had she ever been teased in the street like this by a brat who hadn't even reached puberty?
"Brat... you have a death wish!"
Temari shouted in fury.
She spun around, twisting at the waist, and the Three Star Fan on her back swept out with a howling rush of wind.
Even without unfolding it, those heavy iron ribs alone made a terrifying blunt weapon.
This blow was powerful enough to smash rock into powder.
"Temari! Stop!"
Kankuro cried out in alarm.
Killing someone on a Konoha street would mean serious trouble.
But Temari had already lost her head in rage. The iron fan hurtled straight toward Son Goten's forehead with tremendous force.
"He's done for!"
Sakura screamed and covered her eyes.
BOOM-!!!
The tremendous impact instantly sent dust flying from the surrounding ground.
The expected sight of splattered brains never appeared.
Son Goten stood where he was, his feet not moving even a fraction.
He had simply raised his right hand casually.
That tender, pale little hand, which looked utterly harmless, steadily supported the enormous iron fan that had come crashing down.
It didn't budge.
Crack.
The flagstone paving beneath Son Goten's feet instantly filled with spiderweb cracks before sinking several centimeters.
All the force of the impact had been channeled into the ground.
Son Goten's body, meanwhile, was like a towering mountain, taking that furious blow head-on.
"How... is this possible?!"
Temari's pupils contracted sharply.
She felt as though she had struck not a little brat's palm, but an indestructible diamond.
The impact numbed the spaces between her thumbs and forefingers, and the iron fan seemed welded into his hand. She couldn't pull it back at all.
"Miss, don't be so hot-tempered."
Son Goten still wore that same infuriating smile.
He was in no hurry to strike back. Instead, he took advantage of their proximity to bring his face close to Temari's legs.
Those long legs, clad in black fishnet stockings, were right before his eyes.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk."
Son Goten voiced his heartfelt admiration.
"Your taste is incredible."
"I've never seen stockings like these in Konoha."
He extended a finger and traced the mesh pattern in the air just a few centimeters from Temari's thigh.
"This irregular openwork design is both breathable and slimming."
Son Goten looked up, his clear eyes full of curiosity.
"Miss, don't tell me you used Sunagakure's wind release ninjutsu to cut out this design, one blade of wind at a time?"
"If you did, that's an incredibly artistic use of Wind Release!"
Temari went rigid.
Under the brat's stare, she actually had the illusion that all her clothes had been stripped away.
Shame and fear intertwined.
"You... let go!"
Temari gritted her teeth, desperately trying to pull her fan back.
"Sure."
Son Goten shrugged.
The instant he let go, his fingers slid a short distance down the fan's ribs in one incredibly smooth motion.
His fingertips barely brushed the back of Temari's hand where she gripped the fan's handle.
"Enough."
A cold voice cut in.
Gaara appeared beside Temari.
His dark-ringed eyes gave Son Goten a long look, the killing intent within them forcibly suppressed.
"We're leaving."
Gaara turned around, the gourd on his back swaying with his movement.
"But Gaara, this guy..."
Kankuro wanted to say more, but a look from Gaara silenced him.
That brat was dangerous.
Shukaku was screaming frantically inside him, telling him to stay away from this seemingly harmless boy with crab-shaped hair.
Temari shot Son Goten a hateful glare, put away her fan, and hurried after Gaara.
The trio quickly disappeared at the end of the street.
Son Goten stayed where he was, watching Temari's retreating figure, especially those long legs striding through the wind.
He put his fingers to his lips and let out a loud wolf whistle.
"Whoo-!"
"Those thighs could keep me entertained for a year."
