"One special mirror told that woman it was a Magic Mirror and would help her take revenge, punishing her husband and his lover. Naturally, she believed it. Within a few days, her husband and his mistress suddenly died horrible deaths."
Su Li scoffed. "A Magic Mirror? More likely a Mirror Ghost, bewitching people. What was he after?"
Resentment surged around her. "Yes. He said he would give that woman true love and success, on the condition that she keep finding orphans and bringing them into the Toy House. She agreed to that too."
"They all turned into toys!! The resentment they produced after death could make him stronger!"
Su Li's gaze sharpened. "Resentment made him stronger? Then which number were you?"
"...The forty-second. He kept making her do those things for over a decade."
"A few days after she adopted me, she took me into the Toy House. I don't know why, but I didn't die quickly. She got anxious and brought in two more."
"But those two died in the Toy House too, while I remained. I just didn't turn into a toy afterward."
After listening, Su Li thought the story was terribly melodramatic. "You were different from the others. You didn't turn straight into a toy, but into something more terrifying."
"I don't know why either." Ghost Doll shook her head.
Su Li was certain that this Ghost Doll's mental strength had been far greater than the others' while she was alive, and her resentment after death had been stronger too. Rather than being turned into a toy by Mirror Ghost, she had become a vengeful ghost outright.
He said slowly, "So Mirror Ghost imprisoned you in that room because your resentment was stronger. Like a power bank, you could keep supplying him with it endlessly."
The resentment around Ghost Doll grew thicker. Her face was filled with hatred. "I'll kill him!"

"Boss, there's something that sinister on the fourth floor?" Zheng Xing immediately poured Su Li a glass of water.
Holding the glass, Su Li gave him an amused look. A ghost himself, calling another ghost sinister?
He stroked the dolls' heads and said with a smile, "However sinister he is, he'll be candy for Xiaoxue and Xiaohan tomorrow."
Zheng Xing said ingratiatingly, "Something like that? Boss, you could definitely handle him with a flick of your finger."
"I have a job for you."
Zheng Xing's expression turned serious. "Your orders, Boss!"
