Xu Su rolled his eyes.
"I'll say it again. My reason for leaving the industry has nothing to do with women. I'm doing it purely for myself."
"Second, whether I have money is my business, not yours. Stop fucking sticking your noses where they don't belong just because you've got nothing better to do."
The heavily stubbled boss looked exasperated with him. "If you're doing it for yourself, that's all the more reason to ride this wave of fucking traffic!"
His assistant chimed in, "Exactly, Mr. Xu! Your future's just about to open up. How can you give up halfway?"
The two of them started taking turns trying to persuade him again, going on and on.
Xu Su smoked expressionlessly for a while, then turned to look outside again.
The world outside really was better. It smelled of freedom everywhere.
The heavily stubbled boss and his assistant yammered on for twenty minutes, only to find him still refusing to see reason. They shot Cheng Nan another look, signaling for him to step in.
The message remained the same: they absolutely could not let this money tree get away!
Cheng Nan had caught his breath by now and came up with another idea.
He gently patted Xu Su's shoulder. "Do you remember what you told me when you first entered the industry?"
As though recalling something wonderful, he curved his lips into a faint smile.
"Back then, you were just a rookie who'd only just debuted. You didn't know any of the industry's rules, but you stood in front of me with your back straight and said that one day, you'd stand at the center of every occasion, basking in everyone's adoration and admiration..."
Xu Su interrupted him. "I remember. You called me delusional."
Cheng Nan: "..."
Did I?
Probably not?
