Xu Wang and the others continued their search. The third room belonged to Yun Xi.
The room was just as shabby and cramped, with only a bed and a simple wardrobe for furniture.
Yun Xi sat on the bed, making the bedboards creak under his weight.
"There doesn't seem to be anything to investigate here, does there?" Gu Yunlan looked around. There were only one or two pieces of clothing in the wardrobe, and everything else was empty.
"Doesn't that prove I'm an honest, law-abiding citizen?" Yun Xi nodded in satisfaction.
"Wait, what's this?" Jiang Xiubai held up the pillow. Beneath it lay a few scattered photographs.
"Huh?" Yun Xi leaned over, looking bewildered.
"These seem to be photos of the same woman." Jiang Xiubai looked through several photographs and found that they all showed the same woman.
"Wait, look. Isn't there writing on the backs of these photos?" Xia Yu picked up one of the photographs and turned it over. Sure enough, "Mother" was written in the bottom-right corner of every photograph.
"Oh, the woman in these photos must be my mother. That shouldn't be a problem, right?" Yun Xi sighed in relief. That had scared him to death; he had thought he had a motive too.
"No, no, no. If she's your mother, then there's a big problem." Holding the last photograph, Jiang Xiubai shook his head slightly.
"What do you mean?" Yun Xi looked puzzled.
"Because your father is the old duke." Jiang Xiubai placed the last photograph in front of everyone. It showed the same young woman, but this photograph also included a man and a baby. The man looked exactly like the man sitting on the sofa in the hall, minus the beard.
!!!
Three enormous exclamation marks popped into everyone's minds.
[Whoa, whoa, whoa!
