Yu Ping chattered beside him about his upcoming work schedule, and Yan Ningke responded now and then.
Then a thin flake of ice landed on his phone screen and quickly melted into a drop of water.
Yan Ningke raised his head, suddenly realizing winter had arrived. "It's snowing..."
"Yes, it's snowing. Teacher Yan, time to go home."
Yan Ningke abruptly looked over. Below the steps stood a tall, elegant man holding flowers, his faint smile serene.
Shao Ke's eyes softened further, gleaming like glass. "A Ning, congratulations on wrapping."
Work, public ridicule-Yan Ningke's mind had no room for any of it anymore. His heart and eyes held only the refined, striking figure before him beneath the moonlight.
He hurried down the steps and threw himself eagerly into his arms before he had even found his footing. "What are you doing here?"
Shao Ke held him securely, his expression languid. "Taking you home."
Those words left Yan Ningke utterly bewitched. He even abandoned the backpack in Yu Ping's hands and followed Shao Ke into the car.
Yu Ping raised a hand blankly. "Your bag..."
A hand reached out from beside him. Lin Yechen gave a polite little smile. "Just give it to me."
Yu Ping didn't move in business circles, but he wasn't oblivious to the outside world, either. In particular, he had once personally witnessed his own boss respectfully seeing Lin Yechen out.
And then there was that man just now.
Everyone in Lincheng knew about the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Bairun Group's Asian division. The man standing right in the center, shaking hands with government officials, had been Bairun's current chairman.
Yu Ping felt as though the clouds had parted to reveal the moon.
As the champagne-colored Bentley melted into the night, Yu Ping punched his other palm, looking excited.
