Three days later.
The baseball field in the hills behind Jujutsu High had taken on a fresh look after some simple repairs and preparations.
Although it was an open-air dirt field, it had bases, a pitcher's mound, and home plate, and even makeshift spectator stands.
The weather was lovely, with bright sunshine and a gentle breeze.
The students from Tokyo Jujutsu High and Kyoto Jujutsu High wore their respective schools' athletic uniforms and stood on opposite sides of the field in two teams.
On Tokyo Jujutsu High's side were Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Maki Zenin, Panda, Toge Inumaki, Junpei Yoshino, and the others.
On Kyoto Jujutsu High's side were Aoi Todo, Mai Zenin, Momo Nishimiya, Kasumi Miwa, Noritoshi Kamo, Mechamaru, and the others.
The two sides sized each other up across the field, the atmosphere a little peculiar.
After all, the Goodwill Event, which was originally supposed to be a fight to the death, had suddenly become a baseball game. The change was far too abrupt.
"Um..." Itadori scratched his head, looked across at Aoi Todo, and asked quietly, "Are we really playing baseball?"
"Of course!" Aoi Todo planted his hands on his hips, his voice booming. "Since it's a competition, we have to give it everything we've got to win! Brother, you'd better not hold back!"
"I wasn't going to..."
Standing beside Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro looked at the baseball bat in his hands with a somewhat helpless expression. "I thought we'd be competing in jujutsu... but it turned out to be baseball. And we're not allowed to use cursed techniques or reinforce ourselves with cursed energy... doesn't that just make this a purely physical competition?"
Nobara Kugisaki swung her bat and grinned. "Isn't that even better? I grew up playing baseball! Just watch me blast them away
