With Kizaru in tow, Pero hovered slowly above this undersea wonderland.
An enormous double-layered coating bubble enveloped the entire island, shielding it from the terrifying water pressure ten thousand meters below the surface.
Occasionally, a coated ship would pass through a membrane and sail into the island.
Above the island was not the pitch-black deep sea one might imagine, but a "sky" radiating gentle light and drifting "clouds," just like the world on the surface.
All of this was thanks to the enormous mangrove that grew upward from the seabed, piercing through the entire Red Line-the Sunlight Tree Eve.
Like nature's own delivery worker, it continuously transported real sunlight from the surface down to this deep-sea paradise.
Because of this, Fish-Man Island followed the surface world's regular cycles of sunlight, day, and night.
Pero reached out and gently touched the enormous bubble membrane enveloping Fish-Man Island, feeling its wondrous softness and resilience.
"Oh my..." Kizaru spoke beside him in his languid drawl. "Even our Marine research department has never figured out how this enormous coating works.
"All we know is that this bubble membrane protects Fish-Man Island... I'm not sure what would happen inside if this thing were broken."
Pero rolled his eyes at Kizaru. "What do you think that layer I put around you is for?"
As he spoke, he reached out and shoved Kizaru straight toward the enormous bubble membrane!
"Hey, hey!"
Before Kizaru could protest, the instant he touched the bubble membrane, the resilient film opened like an automatic door, letting his body pass through.
Pero followed right behind him.
After entering Fish-Man Island, a flicker of novelty crossed Pero's eyes.
Everything here was filled with fairy-tale colors.
Enormous fish fitted with seats and small bubble membranes looked just like docile mounts, carrying merfolk and Fish-Men back
