Ch. 261A Little Special Training

Rokuya and Kanae encouraged Genya Shinazugawa to embrace his unusual demon-eating ability as a strength, while Rokuya blamed Sanemi's harshness for the brothers' unresolved conflict. The next morning, Rokuya decided to give Yuichiro Tokito and another newly appointed Hashira special training as payback for interrupting him and Kanae at the Hot Spring.

  • Genya Shinazugawa told Rokuya and Kanae that he had come to commission more Nichirin Bullets for his unusual weapon.
  • Rokuya and Kanae reassured Genya that his ability to gain power from demons was valuable and urged him to fight for humanity.
  • Genya thanked them and left determined to contribute to the Demon Slayer Corps.
  • Kanae lamented Sanemi's attempts to drive Genya away, and Rokuya said Sanemi had to respect his brother's resolve.
  • The following morning, Rokuya picked up a wooden sword and planned special training for the two Hashira who had interrupted his time with Kanae.

Ch. 262The Puppet Bullies Arrived

Rokuya intervened when Yuichiro and Muichiro tried to use Kotetsu’s Mechanical Puppet for combat training and damaged it. He challenged the brothers and defeated both Hashira with his wooden sword, leaving them subdued in the clearing.

  • Yuichiro damaged the Mechanical Puppet with a Smoke Breathing strike, and Kotetsu clung to it crying.
  • Rokuya confronted Yuichiro for bullying Kotetsu and challenged the brothers to fight him.
  • Yuichiro attacked with Smoke Breathing, but Rokuya shattered every sword-energy slash with his wooden sword.
  • Muichiro ambushed Rokuya through the mist, but Rokuya dodged his blade and knocked him back with a powerful counter.
  • Rokuya charged through Yuichiro’s smoke, forced him to one knee, then caught Muichiro in the mist and pressed his sword to his throat.
  • Rokuya withdrew his wooden sword after suppressing both brothers in less than a minute.

Ch. 263The blade inside the puppet

Rokuya revealed that Yoriichi Type Zero used Sun Breathing techniques and urged Tanjiro to train against it. Tanjiro awakened the Transparent World, destroyed the puppet, and found an ancient, badly rusted sword inside it before Haganezuka Hotaru burst from the bushes.

  • Kotetsu repaired Yoriichi Type Zero, and Rokuya explained that its techniques shared roots with Tanjiro’s Hinokami Kagura.
  • Kotetsu activated the puppet, and Tanjiro struggled against its six-arm assault until Rokuya told him to sense its movements and find openings.
  • Tanjiro entered the Transparent World and used Hinokami Kagura: Blazing Sun Red Mirror! to sever three of the puppet’s arms and destroy its chest.
  • Rokuya spotted a sword hidden inside the puppet, and Tanjiro pulled out the ancient blade.
  • Kotetsu gave Tanjiro the sword, but its blade was heavily rusted and unusable.
  • Haganezuka Hotaru burst from the bushes wearing a Hyottoko Mask and holding wind chimes.

Ch. 264The calm before the storm

Rokuya stopped Haganezuka from attacking Tanjiro and let the swordsmith take the ancient blade to polish while finishing Rokuya’s Shura Blade. That night, Rokuya warned Kanae that Muzan’s final battle might be near, and they promised to stay together; next door, Tanjiro braided Nezuko’s hair.

  • Haganezuka lunged at Tanjiro to seize the ancient blade, and Rokuya restrained him.
  • Haganezuka told Rokuya that his Shura Blade would be ready the next day, then took the ancient blade to polish.
  • Rokuya and Tanjiro returned to the inn after the others gathered the puppet’s remains.
  • Rokuya told Kanae that Muzan had made a major move and vowed to protect her and Shinobu.
  • Kanae promised to fight beside Rokuya and stay within his sight, and the two embraced and kissed.
  • Tanjiro braided Nezuko’s hair in the room next door.

Ch. 265The First Signs

Tanjiro thanked Genya for fighting to protect people and shared a warm moment with Nezuko, while a demon lurking in the woods killed a swordsmith villager. Tanjiro then visited Yuichiro and Muichiro to thank them, but Yuichiro rebuffed him with harsh words.

  • Tanjiro encouraged Genya not to feel inferior about how he fought, and Nezuko hugged and patted Genya, leaving him flustered.
  • A strange pot in the woods seized and dragged a swordsmith villager inside before vanishing.
  • Tanjiro left Genya and Nezuko at the inn and went to visit Yuichiro and Muichiro.
  • Tanjiro thanked Yuichiro and Muichiro for helping him receive Takanashi Rokuno's guidance.
  • Yuichiro scorned Tanjiro and told him he was not welcome, but Tanjiro bowed and thanked them anyway.

Ch. 266A battle on the brink

An Upper Rank demon attacked Tanjiro and the Tokito brothers, splitting into Sekido and Karaku after the brothers beheaded it. With Muichiro blasted into the forest and Yuichiro trapped between saving him and fighting, Takanashi Rokuno arrived with Kanae Kocho and ordered Yuichiro to find his brother.

  • A hunched Upper Rank demon crawled into the room, and Yuichiro and Muichiro beheaded it with a coordinated attack.
  • The demon regenerated as Sekido and Karaku, and Karaku blasted Muichiro hundreds of meters into the forest with a gale from his fan.
  • Yuichiro stopped trying to reach Muichiro when Sekido blocked his way, leaving him torn between rescuing his brother and protecting Tanjiro.
  • Takanashi Rokuno and Kanae Kocho broke through the wall and confronted the demons.
  • Takanashi Rokuno conjured a blade and ordered Yuichiro to find Muichiro while he handled the demons.

Ch. 267A Powerful Enemy Approaches

Rokuya and Kanae beheaded Sekido and Karaku, but the demons split and regenerated into four bodies. When Rokuya sensed an overwhelmingly powerful enemy approaching the Swordsmith Village, Mitsuri arrived, and Rokuya prepared to leave the four demons to her, Kanae, and Tanjiro.

  • Yuichiro escaped while Rokuya attacked Sekido to stop him from pursuing.
  • Rokuya and Kanae fought Sekido and Karaku, beheading both demons.
  • Sekido and Karaku regenerated and split into four demons: themselves, Urogi, and Aizetsu.
  • Rokuya sensed a destructive aura from the distant mountains and worried the Swordsmith Village was in danger.
  • Mitsuri arrived, and Rokuya decided Kanae, Mitsuri, and Tanjiro could handle the four demons while he confronted the distant threat.

Ch. 268Fierce battle with Gyokko

Rokuya left Kanae to hold off the demons and raced toward the source of the threat, while Yuichiro found Gyokko trapping Muichiro in a water sphere. Yuichiro rescued his brother and destroyed Gyokko’s summoned imps, leaving him ready to face the Upper Rank demon.

  • Rokuya sent his Kasugai Crow to watch over Kanae, then rushed toward the source of the threat as Kanae and Mitsuri stayed behind to fight Sekido and the others.
  • Yuichiro found Muichiro trapped in a water sphere and discovered that Upper Rank Five, Gyokko, intended to preserve the twins as art.
  • Yuichiro used Smoke Breathing, First Form: Ashen Wolf Smoke to blind Gyokko, then cut open the water sphere and rescued Muichiro.
  • Yuichiro told Muichiro to rest while he fought Gyokko, who dispersed the smoke and summoned dozens of clay imps from ceramic pots.
  • Yuichiro used Smoke Breathing, Second Form: Smoke Signals Rise on All Sides to destroy all the imps.

Ch. 269Yuichiro's fury

Yuichiro battled Gyokko with Smoke Breathing, trapping the demon in a scorching cloud and wounding him repeatedly. Gyokko unleashed a barrage of venomous spines, and Yuichiro and Muichiro were injured while defending themselves.

  • Gyokko attacked Yuichiro with tentacles, but Yuichiro severed them and burned away Gyokko’s venomous tentacles with Smoke Breathing.
  • Yuichiro destroyed Gyokko’s poisoned bone-spiked tentacles, forcing Gyokko to use his full strength and move between numerous ceramic pots.
  • Yuichiro sensed Gyokko’s approach without relying on sight, deflected his claws, then filled the clearing with scorching smoke using Sun-Obscuring Gloom Clouds.
  • Yuichiro repeatedly wounded Gyokko in the smoke, but the demon regenerated and unleashed his Blood Demon Art, Ten Thousand Soaring Slippery Fish.
  • Muichiro rushed to help Yuichiro, and the brothers fought back-to-back against the venomous spines, but several struck Yuichiro’s arm and calf and cut Muichiro’s shoulder.

Ch. 270Slaying Gyokko

Yuichiro and Muichiro used a coordinated attack to kill Gyokko despite being poisoned, then collapsed as the crisis in the Swordsmith Village continued. Rokuya reached a ruined shrine, where a seated figure awaited him.

  • Gyokko's venom weakened Yuichiro and Muichiro, so Yuichiro planned to lure Gyokko into an opening while Muichiro hid in the smoke.
  • Yuichiro drew Gyokko out of a vase and held his attention, even after Gyokko wounded him.
  • Muichiro appeared behind Gyokko and severed his arm as Yuichiro attacked from the front.
  • Yuichiro and Muichiro struck together and beheaded Gyokko, whose body and nearby monsters turned to ash.
  • The poisoned brothers collapsed, while Rokuya raced through the mountains toward the evil presence.
  • Rokuya stopped near a ruined stone shrine and saw a figure sitting there.

Ch. 271Encounter with Kokushibo

Rokuya confronted Kokushibo at the Swordsmith Village, where the Upper Rank One had waited without harming the residents. Their fierce clash began with Rokuya's surprise attack, but Kokushibo countered his techniques with uncanny precision.

  • Rokuya found Kokushibo sitting at a stone shrine in the undisturbed Swordsmith Village and learned that he had come to carry out Muzan's order to take Rokuya's head.
  • Rokuya transformed into his Demon Form and manifested an Energy Blade with Returning Blade.
  • Rokuya attacked Kokushibo with Modified Extreme Blade Flash, but Kokushibo met the strike with Moon Breathing's First Form.
  • Kokushibo weakened Rokuya's blow with crescent blade winds and countered with Kyokokukamusari, forcing Rokuya to fight defensively.
  • Rokuya tried varying his attacks with Thunder Breathing, Blade Tempest, and Sun Breathing, but Kokushibo anticipated each move and intercepted his Energy Blade.

Ch. 272Fierce Battle with Kokushibo

Rokuya fought Kokushibo in the ruined forest, but his energy blade could not overcome Kokushibo’s defenses. Kokushibo transformed his katana and unleashed his full power, leaving Rokuya struggling to withstand the barrage as their clash continued.

  • Rokuya realized that his energy blade and sword techniques could not suppress Kokushibo, who read his attacks and defended against them.
  • Kokushibo acknowledged Rokuya’s strength and mutated his Flesh Katana into a huge, many-bladed greatsword.
  • Kokushibo used Moon Breathing’s Sixth Form to unleash a storm of crescent blades, and Rokuya countered with Returning Blade: Flame Tiger's Roar and Extreme Blade Flash.
  • Rokuya defended against Kokushibo’s barrage while their weapons exchanged powerful counterforces, and both were blasted back by a final collision.

Ch. 273Truce

Rokuya and Kokushibo ended their stalemate and exchanged information about Kokushibo’s predictive perception and crimson markings. Their conversation was interrupted when an entrance to the Infinity Castle opened behind Kokushibo.

  • Rokuya and Kokushibo stopped fighting after realizing neither could defeat the other with their current abilities.
  • Rokuya asked how Kokushibo anticipated his attacks and questioned the resemblance between Kokushibo’s markings and Tanjiro’s scar.
  • Kokushibo explained that his perception revealed subtle movements throughout the body and world, then dismissed the markings as remnants of a life-draining pursuit of swordsmanship.
  • A shamisen note sounded, and an enormous paper door opened beneath a cliffside Stone Shrine, revealing the Infinity Castle.

Ch. 274Making a Run for It, Brother

Rokuya failed to kill Kokushibo before Muzan had Nakime retreat with him into the Infinity Castle, then rushed toward Haganezuka Hotaru’s workshop to retrieve his reforged blade. At the battlefield, Kanae, Mitsuri, Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya faced four newly strengthened Hantengu clones.

  • Muzan ordered Nakime to withdraw Kokushibo into the Infinity Castle rather than risk losing him in a prolonged battle with Rokuya.
  • Rokuya launched a final attack as Kokushibo retreated, but Nakime closed the gateway before his strike could connect.
  • Rokuya reflected on what he had learned about Kokushibo and concluded that he needed Shura to unleash his full power, then hurried toward Haganezuka Hotaru’s workshop.
  • Kanae, Mitsuri, Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya stood against Sekido, Karaku, Urogi, and Aizetsu, the four Hantengu clones strengthened by Muzan’s blood.
  • Kanae warned the group to stay together, and Tanjiro cautioned them that the demons’ attacks carried an especially powerful stench of blood.

Ch. 275A Fair 4v4

Kanae and Mitsuri Kanroji defeated Urogi and Sekido, but Tanjiro Kamado and Genya Shinazugawa remained in danger against Aizetsu and Karaku. The battle was still raging as Karaku approached the injured Genya for a finishing blow.

  • Kanae killed Urogi before he could unleash his attack.
  • Mitsuri Kanroji deflected Sekido's lightning and killed him with her flexible sword.
  • Aizetsu overwhelmed Tanjiro Kamado with relentless spear thrusts, leaving Tanjiro unable to counterattack.
  • Karaku's powerful winds knocked Genya Shinazugawa into rubble and sent him sprawling.
  • Karaku approached Genya and raised his fan to deliver a fatal blow.

Ch. 276Head Dance of the Dragon of the Halo

Nezuko’s blood turned Tanjiro’s Nichirin Blade bright red, and Tanjiro used Hinokami Kagura to behead Aizetsu and Karaku. The group found the tiny real demon among the bushes, but Genya’s shotgun failed to harm him.

  • Nezuko grabbed Aizetsu’s spear and splashed her blood onto Tanjiro’s blade, igniting it and turning it bright red.
  • Tanjiro used Head Dance of the Dragon of the Halo to behead Aizetsu and Karaku, then warned that the four headless clones were still alive.
  • Tanjiro sensed a fifth scent and led Genya toward the bushes while Kanae and Mitsuri held off the reassembling clones.
  • Tanjiro and Genya found the mouse-sized real demon, and Genya fired his shotgun at it.
  • Genya’s shot struck the tiny demon’s neck and bounced off without injuring him.

Ch. 277Pursuing the True Body

Kanae saved Genya from Sekido’s attack while Tanjiro pursued the Coward Demon’s tiny true body. Tanjiro nearly severed its neck before a new demon appeared behind him, forcing him to abandon the strike and defend himself.

  • Genya was nearly struck by Sekido, but Kanae deflected the Scepter and kicked Sekido away; Genya thanked her and promised to stay alert.
  • Karaku, Urogi, Sekido, and Aizetsu reassembled, and Tanjiro left Kanae, Genya, and Mitsuri to fight them while he chased the escaping true body with Nezuko.
  • Tanjiro found the Coward Demon hiding by a rock and used Extreme Blade Flash to cut into its unusually hard neck.
  • As Tanjiro pressed on with the beheading, he sensed a powerful hostile presence behind him and turned to block; a young-looking demon with hate-marked taiko drums stood before him.

Ch. 278Zohakuten

Zohakuten forced Kanae, Mitsuri, and Genya into an exhausting battle while Tanjiro and Nezuko pursued the fleeing main body. As the three prepared to face Zohakuten’s overwhelming final attack, Rokuya arrived in his Demon Form.

  • Zohakuten fused the four clones’ powers and attacked Tanjiro with wooden dragons, but Mitsuri and Kanae intervened while Genya joined them.
  • Kanae, Mitsuri, and Genya stayed behind to hold Zohakuten off, allowing Tanjiro and Nezuko to chase the main body into the woods.
  • Zohakuten combined wooden dragons, sonic waves, wind, and lightning to wear down the three defenders as dawn drew near.
  • With less than twenty minutes until dawn, Zohakuten gathered his attacks into a gigantic wooden dragon and prepared to strike Kanae, Mitsuri, and Genya.
  • Rokuya crashed into the battlefield in his activated Demon Form, interrupting Zohakuten’s impending attack.

Ch. 279Reinforcements Arrive

Rokuya arrived and killed Zohakuten, then pursued Tanjiro and Nezuko into the woods. He found Yuichiro and Muichiro victorious over Upper Rank Five, but the Coward Demon's main body was still fleeing toward villagers, with Tanjiro's blade stuck in its neck.

  • Rokuya gave Kanae healing medicine, then defeated Zohakuten and destroyed the Wooden Dragons with his Shura Blade.
  • Rokuya ordered Kanae, Mitsuri, and Genya to keep attacking Zohakuten's body while he pursued Tanjiro and Nezuko.
  • Rokuya found exhausted Yuichiro and Muichiro, who told him they had slain Upper Rank Five.
  • Rokuya and the Tokito brothers saw Tanjiro and Nezuko chasing the Coward Demon's main body across a plain toward villagers.
  • Tanjiro struck the Coward Demon's neck, but his blade lodged in its tough flesh, and the demon continued charging toward the villagers.

Ch. 280Nezuko conquered sunlight?

Tanjiro faced a choice between saving Nezuko from the rising sun and stopping the Coward Demon from reaching the villagers, until Nezuko pushed him to continue fighting. After Tanjiro killed the Coward Demon and Hantengu, Nezuko’s sunburns healed and the sunlight stopped harming her, leaving Rokuya stunned.

  • Yuichiro threw Tanjiro his Nichirin Blade as the Coward Demon raced toward the villagers, but sunrise scorched both the Coward Demon and Nezuko.
  • Tanjiro abandoned the fight to shield Nezuko, and Nezuko kicked him away and urged him to save the villagers.
  • Tanjiro used Hinokami Kagura to behead the Coward Demon and find and kill Hantengu’s hidden true body.
  • Rokuya wrapped Nezuko in his haori, then saw her wounds heal and her demonic features fade as the sunlight ceased to burn her.
