By the time Percy brought the package up,
class was about to begin.
Douglas had to put the package aside for now, planning to open it during lunch.
As usual, the first day was the theory exam.
Compared with the entrance exam and the first monthly exam, everyone was clearly much more relaxed this time.
After the Gryffindor second years finished their exam,
Ron said excitedly,
"I can't believe it. I actually thought those questions were easy..."
Harry nodded happily beside him.
Since the two of them had finished writing out their Defense Against Dark Magic textbooks from memory, they remembered the material more firmly than the others.
After all, the others had only memorized the textbook's contents, whereas Harry and Ron had also written all that knowledge out from memory.
Naturally, the others did not remember it as firmly as those two.
Hermione rolled her eyes.
Some of their classmates were unhappy to hear this.
Neville, in particular, said tearfully,
"I feel like I've forgotten almost everything I memorized before."
At noon, Douglas ate lunch in his office while reading Bill's and Charlie's letters.
Along with their letters came some of Bill's research notes on Charms and some processed dragon tendon (from Western dragons) that Charlie had obtained.
[Dear Lao Dao:
You applied for the Defense Against Dark Magic teaching position without even telling me???
Good heavens, don't you know that position is cursed? I remember us discussing this...
Cha (Charlie) thinks you'll be fine, though. He's always had faith in you. Hehe, I'm wondering whether I should tell him what a sorry state you were in back in the Forbidden Forest...
"A person of wealth should not sit beneath the eaves of a crumbling hall." You were the one who taught me that...
Anyway, stay safe.
