A sneer curled the corner of Douglas's mouth.
"Don't you think this is interesting?"
Sirius's anger wavered.
Interesting?
Yes, getting one over on Snape and making him lose his composure truly was one of the most entertaining things in the world.
"What does that have to do with Harry!" he still insisted stubbornly.
"Everything, of course."
Douglas spoke unhurriedly.
"First, this is an official report received by the Academic Affairs Office. As an officially recognized Hogwarts student club, the Charon Detective Agency has a responsibility and an obligation to help the Academic Affairs Office solve its problems."
He looked at Sirius, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Surely you can't let a club under your authority pick and choose every time there's work to be done, Director?"
Sirius was momentarily at a loss for words.
"Second," Douglas continued, turning his gaze to Harry this time, "this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
"An opportunity for you to enter Snape's private office and search every corner of it, legally and properly, under my supervision and with the authorization of the Academic Affairs Office."
Boom!
Those words slammed into Sirius's and Harry's minds.
Sirius's eyes suddenly lit up.
The flames of gossip blazed in his eyes once again.
That gleam was no longer mere delight in someone else's misfortune, but the excitement of a hunter who had spotted his prey.
"A... legal opportunity?" he murmured to himself.
"Exactly," Douglas confirmed. "Think about it. Snape's private office, his storage cabinets, under his cauldrons... Who knows how many shameful secrets he's hidden away?"
His voice was full of enticement.
Sirius's breathing suddenly quickened.
Before his eyes flashed James's bespectacled face, ecstatic after pulling off a prank.
At that moment, his position underwent an earth-shattering shift.
Harry's heart also gave a leap at what he heard.
