After all their fussing, Lin Qi no longer felt like resting. He set up his stove again and began heating up some food.

It was late afternoon, nearing dusk, and darkness would fall soon.

He kept watching the wild grass. Giant Bear Extraordinary had not returned since heading out that afternoon, while the captain in floral shorts leisurely smoked a cigarette, clearly unconcerned about him.

Lin Qi was hardly so idle that he would worry about an Extraordinary. He was simply a little curious.

The rich aroma of instant noodles soon filled his nostrils. His food was running out fast. If they did not reach another supply point within three days, he would have to buy food from Liu Yan with Ghost Cash.

Deep down, he did not want to do that.

Once or twice would be fine, but if it happened too often, Liu Yan would definitely wonder why he had so much Ghost Cash.

Lin Qi ate quickly.

Nothing unexpected had happened today, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief.

Once he had eaten and drunk his fill, darkness began to fall. To be ready in case the convoy set off at any moment during the night, he went straight back into his SUV to rest.

Time slowly slipped by as he slept.

"Click, click. Click, click, click."

Faint sounds reached his ears.

"Who's there!"

Lin Qi woke almost instantly. It was completely dark, and many of the survivors nearby had fallen asleep.

He was a very light sleeper. Almost any disturbance could wake him immediately!

The faint sounds had not escaped his ears at all.

Lin Qi looked through the rearview mirror, and his expression immediately darkened.

Behind his vehicle, several masked men were rapidly siphoning off his gasoline!

"HOOONK!!!"

Almost instinctively, Lin Qi started the vehicle, and its piercing horn blasted through the night.

The sleeping survivors jolted awake in an instant.

Even the members of the Transcendent Squad on night watch instinctively looked over.

As the horn blared, the masked gas thieves realized they had been discovered. They pulled out the siphon hose and quickly melted into the crowd.

"Fuck."

Lin Qi cursed under his breath, staring fixedly at the retreating backs of the gas thieves.

Rather than chase them, he hurriedly dug a flashlight out of his vehicle and went to inspect the gas tank.

The tank had been well over half full, but now three-quarters of that was gone!

"Phew."

Lin Qi took a deep breath. Gas theft was nothing new in the convoy, and the Extraordinaries paid no attention whatsoever to the ordinary survivors' petty affairs.

In the eyes of the Extraordinaries, everything was a minor matter unless survivors were killed or injured.

Lin Qi had honked to drive them off instead of getting out immediately because he knew who the gas thieves were.

This was not their first time doing something like this.

It was not that nobody knew, but that nobody dared to resist.

There were three gas thieves, and the survivors knew their backgrounds perfectly well.

All three were serious offenders who had broken out of prison. The wanted notices had only been issued that morning, and the apocalypse had arrived that night.

If the convoy had not had Extraordinaries keeping order, those three would probably have run completely wild.

"This isn't over."

Lin Qi stared coldly at a pickup in the distance. Perhaps his [Bro, Give Me Some Face.] could only control one person at a time.

But there were some things he had to do.

Otherwise, once it happened, it would happen again.

If others saw him as an easy target and all came to make trouble for him, he did not have that much energy to spare on scheming and infighting.

After a moment's thought, he got out, planning to spend some supplies to enlist help from Wang Feng and his group, whom he had spoken with earlier that day.

Just as he got out of the vehicle,

a commotion broke out near the pickup.

He turned to look and saw a young man running toward him.

Lin Qi had seen him before. He was a friend of Wang Feng's.

"Bro, come with me. Brother Feng is helping you get your gas back." Anger filled the young man's eyes. "We outnumber them. We can definitely get it back."

Lin Qi paused mid-step. He had been planning to find Wang Feng anyway.

What he had wanted was to secure Wang Feng's help through an exchange of benefits.

He had never imagined anyone would help him so readily during the apocalypse. Without wasting words, he followed the young man toward the pickup.

Beside the pickup, Wang Feng and four others were facing off against the three gas thieves.

With Lin Qi and the young man leading him there, they clearly had the advantage in numbers.

The noise around the pickup naturally drew the survivors' attention.

The night watch on the Extraordinaries' side merely glanced over before looking away, showing no intention whatsoever of getting involved.

As Lin Qi approached, Wang Feng and his group were surrounding three burly, bald men covered in dragon and tiger tattoos.

The bald man in the lead had a hideous scar running across his entire face, making him look extremely frightening.

Scarface seemed utterly unconcerned about Wang Feng's group coming to confront him. Leaning against the pickup's door, he even arrogantly blew a mouthful of cigarette smoke at Wang Feng. "Oh, so just because you say I stole gas, that means I did? Then if I say you stole gas, does that mean you did?"

"Pah! Have you got any shame? Dozens of eyes were watching, and you still have the nerve to throw accusations around?" Wang Feng spat lightly, uncontrollable anger in his eyes.

"Oh."

Scarface looked indifferently at the survivors watching the commotion. "Did you see it? Or did you? Or are you saying all of you saw it?"

Under Scarface's chilling gaze, the survivors hurriedly averted their eyes, shrinking back like quails.

Seeing how cowardly the survivors were filled Wang Feng with sorrow, but he still shouted to the others, "You've all had supplies stolen too, haven't you? If we don't drive these three bad apples out now, do you want to keep losing things forever?"

Wang Feng's voice was loud.

Only deathly silence answered him.

"Looks like you falsely accused me, then?" A mocking smile curled Scarface's lips as he tapped the machete in his right hand against the truck door. "What, want to test your strength? Forget three against five. I could easily send all five of you to meet your maker by myself."

Scarface had originally feared the survivors would unite against him. Now it seemed they were all trash.

He had only covered his face while stealing to show the Extraordinaries some respect.

If the Extraordinaries had not been looming over him, stealing? Sorry, that would have been called collecting protection money.

Holding an expandable baton, Wang Feng looked at the machete reflecting the Blood Moon's glow in the darkness. There was no way he was not intimidated.

Before the apocalypse, he and his friends had merely been office workers.

He had intended to rally the other survivors to pressure them together. Who would have thought the others would each be more useless than the last?

Feeling Scarface's mockery, Wang Feng's disappointment in the survivors finally reached its peak.

He could not lead his buddies into an actual fight with Scarface. If any of them were killed or injured, he would not know how to answer to them.

Wang Feng took a deep breath. "Our mistake. Let's go."

But although he wanted to leave, Scarface raised his machete. "You think you can leave after falsely accusing me? Today, you either leave an arm behind or pay me compensation!"
