Lin Qi withdrew his gaze after just one glance. With his temperament, he disliked getting involved in gatherings with so many people.
The other survivors, on the other hand, hurriedly put down what they were doing at the sight of new survivors and swarmed toward the front of the convoy.
The newcomers soon reached the convoy. The captain and the other two had long been waiting at the front. Niu Wudi stood there like an iron tower, exuding an intense sense of pressure.
The captain began speaking with the newcomers.
The convoy's survivors plunged into the crowd one after another, trying to find clues about relatives far away through conversations with them.
A few survivors actually found people they knew among them!
Naturally, Wang Feng would not miss this opportunity either. After asking around, he was surprised to discover that these people came from H City. Unfortunately, none of them had heard anything about his wife.
"H City fell too?"
Even though Wang Feng had expected it, his heart still trembled.
Only after finding no further news did he leave the crowd in a daze and head back to his vehicle.
Lin Qi was not far from the Transcendent Squad. With few people left around the convoy, he could hear some of the commotion from the front from where he sat.
He roughly sorted through the information.
The refugees came from H City. They had originally been part of a fleeing group numbering over a thousand, but after encountering uncanny entities, the survivors traveling on foot had been at an inherent disadvantage and ended up completely separated from the convoy.
Now that they had met a new captain, the excitement on their faces was impossible to hide.
Lin Qi silently took in the information they revealed, but his gaze unconsciously settled on the bus nearby.
Despite all the commotion caused by the refugees, there was no reaction whatsoever from the bus. No one even drew back a curtain.
That was not normal. Not normal at all.
Lin Qi instinctively frowned.
Before he could think for long, a smug sneer interrupted his thoughts.
"Heh, Lin Qi, my sugar daddy's here. Your good days are over."
Lin Qi turned and saw Huang Li striding at the front with her head held high and chest thrust out. Bo Gang and the blond stood to her left, while a burly man stood to her right.
More than twenty muscular men followed behind him.
The men's gazes were filled with ill intent as they looked at Huang Li, and even her sugar daddy looked every bit a bandit.
"I hear you've been bullying my daughter?" Huang Li's sugar daddy looked down at Lin Qi, who was sitting beside the SUV. His gaze swept over the SUV's back seat, the greed in his eyes utterly undisguised. "How about this? Give me your car and supplies, and I, Wang Hu, will pretend you never bullied my daughter."
"Daddy!"
Hearing that Wang Hu intended to let Lin Qi off, Huang Li immediately grew anxious.
"Heh, you need to be a little more forgiving." As Wang Hu spoke, he reached straight for the SUV's door, clearly not taking Lin Qi seriously at all, as though the SUV already belonged to him.
"Stop!"
Before Lin Qi could speak, Wang Feng rushed over with his men, his expression grim. "Aren't you being a little too ignorant of the rules?"
"The rules?" Wang Hu smiled scornfully. He glanced toward the Extraordinaries, his lowered voice carrying murderous intent. "Our group of over two hundred originally had an Extraordinary. Guess why he isn't here now?"
"What do you mean?" A bad feeling rose in Wang Feng's heart.
"I killed him, of course." Wang Hu's voice grew even lower, but Wang Feng shuddered. Killing an Extraordinary was something he would never have dared to imagine in his life.
"You're saying you killed an Extraordinary?"
Just then, Green Radish's voice came from behind the crowd.
Wang Hu froze in the middle of his threatening gesture. Turning and seeing that it was one of the Extraordinaries, he immediately changed his attitude. "Just kidding, just kidding. I was only scaring the kids."
"Oh, I hope you really were joking." Green Radish clearly had no intention of being pleasant to him. Like a gang boss, she pointed at Lin Qi. "He's under my protection. Before you try making trouble for him, think about whether you can kill me first."
"Hahaha, since he's under your protection, honored Extraordinary, there's no problem. Let's go."
Wang Hu laughed it off, showing no sign of embarrassment, and turned to leave. Huang Li, however, looked at Green Radish, then at the calm-faced Lin Qi, as though she had finally understood something. Realization dawned on her. "Well, well, well! I was wondering why you wouldn't come apologize to me, Lin Qi! So you've found yourself a little homewrecker!"
The moment Huang Li said that, the slightly relaxed atmosphere instantly grew tense.
Green Radish's face turned icy.
Wang Hu's expression darkened as well. Almost without hesitation, he viciously slapped Huang Li across the face with his huge palm, knocking out her teeth and sending blood spilling from the corner of her mouth.
Huang Li looked up at Wang Hu, her eyes filled with disbelief.
Wang Hu did not even glance at him. He hurriedly pulled out a pack of cigarettes and offered it to Green Radish with an ingratiating smile. "Sorry, sorry. My daughter doesn't know any better. Sorry for making a spectacle. Please take this as an apology."
Seeing Huang Li's miserable state, Green Radish did not accept the cigarettes. Instead, she casually walked up to her.
Huang Li tried to retreat and dodge, but Green Radish had already pressed a hand against her cheek. "Such a pretty girl. You won't look good with your face all battered."
As she finished speaking, she actually began healing Huang Li's swelling cheeks.
Watching Green Radish behave this way made things even clearer to Lin Qi.
Green Radish could not possibly be that kindhearted. There had to be a hidden price for healing others, and one that benefited her.
"All right, all right. Since she's forgiven you, why aren't you leaving?"
Seeing the undisguised hatred in Huang Li's eyes, Wang Hu hurriedly dragged her away and left with his men.
Only after Huang Li's group had gone far away did Lin Qi turn to Green Radish. "Why didn't you kill them?"
"Hehe, what's there to worry about? To Extraordinaries, they're nothing but clowns."
Green Radish did not seem to have taken Huang Li's insults to heart at all. Instead, her eyes were full of amusement. "They think they found the convoy themselves, but actually, the captain just used his ability to draw them here..."
At this point, Green Radish's gaze settled on Wang Feng and the others listening nearby.
Catching the meaning of her look, Wang Feng hurriedly laughed. "Haha, I just remembered I still have something to do. We'll get back to work, then. Back to work..."
Only after Wang Feng had gone far away did Green Radish continue, a crafty gleam in her eyes. "The captain might usually seem pretty honest, but he's no good guy!"
