Inside the meeting room of the Doomsday Train carriage.
Zhang Chen tapped the table. "What do you think?"
"I think there's something off about that guy at the back," Xiao Liuzi said quietly.
His sequence prophecy could clearly sense the threat coming from Lin Yi, as well as the ill intent he occasionally gave off.
"Hehe, I want that woman." Faqing's gaze was lecherous, his mouth stretched into a wide grin.
"Don't cause trouble." Zhang Chen glared at Faqing and stood. "In that case, we'll trade as normal."
The three walked out of the train.
Liu Ning also brought the items they were trading to the entrance.
Four Anomalies: three from Lin Yi and one from the convoy.
"We need three chickens and some fruit and vegetables."
"No problem." Zhang Chen nodded cheerfully and gestured for the survivors beside him to go pick them out.
Before long, the survivors returned carrying three cages and some Chinese cabbage, lettuce, and potatoes.
"Sorry, our resources are limited. We only have these three kinds of vegetables." Zhang Chen looked slightly apologetic.
Liu Ning looked over the quantity of vegetables in the basket and nodded.
The Anomalies they offered did not have high sequence ranks, so the exchange was fair enough.
"All right. A pleasure doing business."
Zhang Chen exchanged the supplies with a smile.
"All right, everyone, we're getting ready to leave."
Zhang Chen waved, and the survivors boarded the train, satisfied.
The Doomsday Train rumbled to life.
It set off into the distance.
"I didn't expect it to be so easy." Wu Ke sounded somewhat reflective.
Liu Ning handed Lin Yi his two hens and a bag of vegetables.
The convoy had only traded for one hen.
"Mm." Lu Hanxue nodded, but her eyes never left the flapping hens or the bag of vegetables in Lin Yi's hand.
"Here." Lin Yi took a little of each kind of vegetable and offered them to Lu Hanxue.
Lu Hanxue shook her head. "I don't have any Anomalies left to trade."
Aside from her own Azure-Blue Sword Frost Chill, she had no other Anomalies on hand.
The other Anomalies belonged to the convoy.
"They're a gift." Ignoring her expression, Lin Yi stuffed the vegetables into Lu Hanxue's hands, then turned and returned to his Jury-Rigged Car.
That old bald donkey clearly isn't a good person. I'll let Lu Hanxue try the vegetables first and see if there's anything wrong with them. She's so strong, her resistance must be pretty high too, Lin Yi thought.
Ever since getting into the passenger seat, Xuanqing had been studying the Daoist Principles Outline in his hands without pause, barely looking up the whole time.
Lin Yi did not disturb him.
The convoy set off again, and he drove his Jury-Rigged Car leisurely among the other vehicles.
In the end, Lin Yi had decided not to swipe the Doomsday Train's supplies.
The reason lay with the Doomsday Train itself.
The Doomsday Train was clearly a sequence Anomaly.
Without knowing its specifics, he could easily come to grief.
Meanwhile, the Doomsday Train clattered through the snow.
There were no longer three people in the meeting room, but five Sequence Transcendents seated together.
The two additions were a short, dark-skinned man and a tall, snow-white-skinned woman wearing a qipao.
"Are we just letting them go like that?" The man sounded somewhat unwilling.
The woman licked her lips, her eyes full of mockery. "You really are an idiot."
"What did you say?" The short man shot to his feet, his eyes filled with anger.
"Zhou Li, hehe, you still won't believe me when I call you stupid." The woman gave the man a scornful glance, then turned her gaze to Faqing. "If I'm not mistaken, this damned bald donkey pulled another dirty trick, didn't he?"
"Hehehe." Faqing sat there calmly without answering, merely laughing smugly.
Lin Yi settled the two old hens in the rear compartment.
After the Wolf King had worked all through the previous night, the Jury-Rigged Car's defenses had not only improved considerably, but its body had also grown two meters longer.
It was not that Lin Yi was unwilling to put the hens in the Blood Ring.
The Blood Ring simply seemed unable to store living things.
This meant he would no longer be able to store the Jury-Rigged Car and the hens together.
Somewhat annoyed, he slapped the steering wheel. "Hey, you lousy car, can't you let someone I designate drive too? Where am I supposed to find all that time to keep driving?"
The Doomsday Assembled Car gave off a wave of hurt feelings.
It seemed not to have expected that the condition it had offered to please Lin Yi would end up displeasing him.
Its body shuddered, and the Doomsday Assembled Car's information changed.
[Anomaly name: Doomsday Assembled Car.] [Description: A means of transportation cobbled together from scrap metal, forcibly fused with Anomalies.] [Anomaly sequence: 3003.] [Trait 1: Interference.] [Releases interference through the Big-Headed Anomaly Skull, preventing anomalies from locking onto your trail for a certain period.] [Trait 2: Jury-Rigged Car's Gratitude. The Jury-Rigged Car is grateful that you brought it into this world. The Jury-Rigged Car's Gratitude makes you its one and only.] [Trait 3: Long tongue. Its long tongue can help the Jury-Rigged Car devour anomalies on its own to replenish energy!] [Trait 4: Eye of Truth. The Eye of Truth can see through anomalies!] [Note: The Jury-Rigged Car has devoured the original price, and only you can start the vehicle!] [Modification: The Jury-Rigged Car has granted you the ability to designate a driver.]
"That's more like it!" Lin Yi patted the steering wheel in satisfaction.
The Doomsday Assembled Car gave off a wave of joy.
"Xuanqing, come on, give it a try." Lin Yi looked at Xuanqing beside him.
Xuanqing was studying the Daoist Principles Compendium, and the sudden voice startled him.
"Huh? Me? I don't know how to drive!" Xuanqing looked utterly bewildered.
"It's fine. Just drive. My car can take a beating." Lin Yi patted his shoulder casually.
As things stood, everywhere they could see was a road.
Besides, there were no traffic rules. Wasn't driving practically child's play?
Hearing this, Xuanqing could only steel himself and move into the driver's seat.
And so, a terrifying scene unfolded within the convoy.
As the convoy advanced in an orderly line, the Doomsday Assembled Car began careening around without warning.
The survivors screamed in fright.
Had they not been riding giant wolves, they would probably have paid a hefty price.
The survivors cast bewildered looks toward the driver's seat.
Their gazes landed on Xuanqing's face, making it flush bright red as he gritted his teeth and struggled to control the vehicle.
Lin Yi, meanwhile, lay in the passenger seat, fast asleep without a care.
He was like a leisurely old gentleman.
Night arrived.
Xuanqing could finally control the beast beneath his feet.
Apart from occasionally stalling, he was no longer making any moves that endangered the survivors.
This made all the survivors breathe a collective sigh of relief.
"Young master, you're a real genius!"
"That's right, you learned to drive in a single day!"
"Hahaha, little Taoist, you're a grown man. What are you blushing for?"
The survivors seemed to have found the apocalypse's only source of amusement.
One after another, they teased Xuanqing from outside the driver's seat.
Being teased by these uncles and aunties made Xuanqing even less able to raise his head.
"Rest here."
Wu Ke called out among the survivors with a megaphone.
Lu Hanxue raised an ice house from the ground.
Hawkeye sat in his vehicle with his eyes closed, pretending to sleep.
He was almost always in this state when using his hawk sight.
The hawk's eyes were his eyes.
Suddenly, his eyes snapped open, filled with unconcealable terror.
"Something's coming closer!"
