Penelope, Heartbroken, Chose Love
"Is that so? That's really... too..."
In the end, Penelope was unable to offer her blessing. She covered her mouth and ran out of the Great Hall as if fleeing.
Bell watched Penelope's retreating figure in silence, saying nothing and doing nothing.
That would be good for everyone.
"Hey! Are you even a man?! Why don't you go after her...?"
A Little Witch, perhaps an acquaintance of Penelope's (?), stood not far away, hands on her hips, looking at Bell and reprimanding her.
However, after being glanced at by Bell, her survival instinct made her swallow the rest of her words and obediently sit back down in her seat, almost bursting into tears.
Bell hates these so-called "good Samaritans." They clearly know nothing, yet they act all self-righteous, standing on some moral high ground, pointing fingers at others.
Not to mention, he's in a very bad mood right now, even worse than when he first left his sister last year!
So, if that "kind" Little Witch continues to nag, Bell can't guarantee he won't teach her a lesson she'll never forget.
After leaving the Great Hall, Penelope simply wandered aimlessly through Hogwarts Castle.
Today is Sunday, and there are no classes scheduled. Therefore, she cannot go to the classroom early to wait for the professor to arrive.
She didn't want to go back to her dorm, and she had no interest in going to the Library to read any books. She was also afraid of running into Bell in the lounge.
Penelope hasn't figured out how she'll face Bell in the future. Or maybe she'll never face him again?
"Penelope? What's wrong? Why are you crying?"
A voice suddenly came from behind her and called out to her.
Penelope turned around and saw that it was Percy Weasley, the Gryffindor Prefect.
"It's nothing, I just accidentally got some sand in my eye."
Penelope wiped away her tears and replied in a slightly choked voice.
"Are you really alright? Should I go and call Filius Flitwick over?"
Seeing Penelope's red eyes, Percy was certainly not foolish enough to believe her.
"I'm really alright."
Penelope said somewhat impatiently.
She wasn't in the mood to waste time talking to anyone; she just wanted to be alone.
"Is there something you need?"
Perhaps failing to grasp the hint of dismissal in Penelope's tone, Percy hesitated for a moment before finally speaking just as Penelope was about to turn and leave.
"Regarding what I mentioned in the letter last summer. Although you rejected me once before, some things are hard to explain in a letter. So, are you free now? Could you give me some time to try again?"
"That matter?"
Penelope couldn't quite recall what the other person had said during the summer vacation.
Most importantly, she doesn't want to waste any time thinking about trivial things right now.
"Yes. That is, I like you and I hope we can date."
Percy said nervously.
"..."
Clearly, the word "dating" once again Earth Spike a nerve with Penelope. Right now, the last word she wanted to hear was "dating"!
"You..."
Penelope, who was about to lose her temper, suddenly remembered something. She froze on the spot, and after a few seconds, she continued.
"You like me? You want to date me?"
"Yes, yes. I know that because we're not in the same college, we don't usually talk much. You might not know me very well either, but..."
"I agree."
Penelope said without any emotion.
"I know you won't agree now, after all, you already... What did you say?"
Percy's eyes widened in disbelief.
I said, "I agree, I agree to date you."
What's the best way to forget a past relationship?
The answer is, start a new relationship!
Penelope couldn't remember where she had heard that phrase before, but she wanted to give it a try.
Objectively speaking, Percy's qualifications can be described as excellent.
He was not only the top student in his grade, but also the Prefect of Gryffindor. The Weasley family was also a renowned Pure-blood Family in the British Wizarding World, with a long and distinguished history.
Although it's said that the Weasley family's financial situation has declined significantly in recent years, their intangible resources, such as their network of connections, have not diminished at all.
Therefore, Percy, both in terms of his own qualities and his family's circumstances, could be considered a golden catch for Penelope.
If Penelope hadn't met Bell, she would have been overjoyed by Percy's confession.
But reality doesn't allow for "what ifs." She had not only forgotten that he had confessed his feelings to her during the summer vacation not long ago, but even now, after accepting his request to date her, Penelope showed no emotional fluctuation whatsoever; in fact, she was so calm that even she was surprised.
When Penelope first arrived at Hogwarts and realized the vast difference between Pure-blood and non- Pure-blood Magical World, she desperately wanted to find a Pure-blood boyfriend.
If the other party has a distinguished family background, that would be even better.
However, she stopped thinking about such things at some point.
Strictly speaking, Penelope knew absolutely nothing about Bell's family background.
Aside from overhearing two Slytherin classmates talking about the Menethil Family at the very beginning, and learning that Menethil seemed to be a very prestigious surname, she really knew nothing about it.
Penelope felt that the Weasley name was even more well-known than Menethil.
Moreover, she genuinely didn't know which of the two families had more power.
After all, although she had entered Hogwarts to study magic, the world of wizarding was still too distant for a Muggle-born Little Witch like her.
Penelope remembered that everything changed when she met Bell.
After simply becoming friends with Bell, she not only forgot to ask him about the Menethil Family, but also completely forgot about her family background, wealth, future prospects, and everything else that she had always cared about.
This, perhaps, is love.
Penelope, who has finally come to understand everything and recognized her true self, has no intention of continuing the conflict.
She already has a boyfriend now. Although it's only been a few seconds, she will bury everything from the past deep inside.
She will forget, and she must forget!
"Really?! Oh, no, I mean, I'm so happy!"
Percy stammered.
He was really, really happy!
At the very end of summer vacation, he finally mustered up the courage to write a love letter to Penelope.
He was very disappointed after being rejected.
He unexpectedly ran into Penelope today. Although he called out to her, he never expected that she would agree to date him.
It was nothing more than a desperate struggle born of unwillingness to accept defeat.
The unexpected surprise made Percy fail to notice Penelope's unusual behavior.
And so, in this strange atmosphere where one person cheered excitedly while the other remained indifferent, the two began their uncertain romance...
