The Acromantulas That Gave Their All
"La, la, la la~ la~"
Humming a tune she'd heard somewhere, Shanna skipped and hopped toward her Gege's bedroom.
The little girl was wearing a trench coat given to her by her Gege, and she couldn't suppress the happy smile on her face.
"Gege ~!"
Shanna suddenly flung open the door to her Gege's bedroom.
I wonder if my Gege will like the gift I gave him?
However, when the little girl opened the door, she didn't see her Gege at first glance, as she usually did.
Clearly, Shanna underestimated the weight of her gift. Freed from the door's restraint, the gift boxes piled high in the room immediately began to tip outwards, one after another crashing down on Shanna.
"!?"
"Gale Howling!"
Reflexively, Shanna drew her Wand and threw it with a Hurricane Curse.
The moment the Curses was cast, Shanna knew something was wrong!
She learned the Hurricane Curse from her mother, Elena. During the time she couldn't tell her Gege about it, her mother had used the Hurricane Curse many times to blow away her group attacks and make her suffer a lot.
So, she secretly learned the Curses in private and instinctively retaliated when she was "attacked" just now.
Holding a strangely shaped piece of dough, Bell was examining it closely.
He hesitated, even though he knew his sister would be very, very sad if she knew his thoughts. He was still hesitant, wondering whether he should put the dough in his mouth and taste it.
Finally, Bell gritted his teeth and made up his mind. He would... secretly use the Evanesco to destroy the evidence.
However, before Bell could cast his spell with tears in his eyes, a fierce hurricane blew towards him from the direction of the door.
"!?"
Protego Totalum!
A semi-transparent shield, faintly glowing with golden light, stood like a city wall beside Bell.
When the howling hurricane struck the shield, the seemingly indestructible golden shield, like soft silk, quickly bent inward from the point of contact with the hurricane, enveloping the entire hurricane generated by magic, and rapidly shrinking until it was completely obliterated in mid-air.
"..."
"..."
Following the path cleared by the hurricane, Shanna and Bell looked at each other. For a moment, the atmosphere became somewhat awkward.
"I'm sorry!" *2
"Huh!? Gege, why are you apologizing!?"
Little Shanna looked at her Gege, who was bowing his head and apologizing, with a puzzled expression. She had already mentally prepared herself for being punished by her Gege.
As a result, her Gege was not angry at her for her accidental attack; instead, he apologized to her.
Clever Little Shanna realized something was amiss.
"Um... you... you didn't do it because of me..."
She initially thought that Shanna had discovered her "crime" of destroying the body, which was why the little girl was so angry that she shot a Hurricane Curse at her.
After all, it was a Christmas present that Shanna had carefully prepared for him. Even he himself was starting to find his behavior hard to believe.
But now, Bell discovers that things don't seem to be going that way? Wouldn't his apology just be an admission of guilt?
"... Shanna, do you like the gift your Gege gave you?"
While Bell was frantically trying to figure out how to get away with it, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of the trench coat Shanna was wearing.
Not wanting to upset his sister, he awkwardly tried to change the subject.
"...like!"
After carefully observing her Gege and finding nothing amiss, the little girl decisively turned the page.
Although Shanna didn't know why her Gege apologized to her, she was very clear about what she had just done! So she wished she could pretend that the scene had never happened.
And most importantly, her Gege has already apologized. Whatever the reason, does she have any other options besides forgiving Gege?
"I have another surprise for Shanna."
Bell caught her sister as she lunged at her and said with a smile.
He suddenly realized that although he didn't know why Shanna had suddenly cast a Hurricane Curse on him, the fact that the little girl was able to rush over unimpeded suggested that the Curses wasn't entirely without reason.
Poor Bell was unaware that the Christmas present his girlfriend Hermione had painstakingly prepared for him had just been tragically torn to shreds by the fierce hurricane. He had no idea how much effort he would have to put in to appease the angry Hermione afterwards.
Speaking of which... does this foreshadow something?
"What is it?"
Shanna looked at her Gege expectantly.
"Yes... um, wait a moment."
Looking at the room full of gift boxes, Bell awkwardly pressed the pause button. He pulled his Wand from under his pillow, raised it above his head, and twirled it around.
Reducio!
Each 30cm square gift box quickly shrank to the size of a matchbox. They floated in mid-air, slowly rotating around the center of the room.
Bell then pointed his Wand at the wardrobe, and a dark shadow flashed and appeared in his hand.
It was a dark gray hooded trench coat, almost identical to the one Shanna was wearing, except that it was more of a men's style.
After putting on his trench coat, Bell stood side by side with Shanna. He gestured, and a full-length mirror appeared in front of them.
"How about it?"
Seeing herself and her Gege dressed similarly in the mirror, Shanna was overjoyed!
"This Battle Robe was made primarily from the silk of the Acromantula, combined with auxiliary materials such as Dragon Hide, the skeleton of Deep Sea Monster, and the shell of Overlord Crab."
While gathering ingredients, I unexpectedly discovered that when the Acromantula's web closes, it completely seals off the space. Unless a powerful Curses capable of forcibly shattering space is used, no one, or any creature, can traverse this space.
Therefore, I specially crafted this Battle Robe. Besides possessing defensive capabilities far exceeding those of ordinary wizard robes, its primary function is to seal off space.
(When Side-Along Apparition, so this Battle Robe will not prevent the wearer from casting such Curses.)
Bell spread out his left hand, palm up, and used magic to form a small ball.
"Now I'm going to use Side-Along Apparition the air inside the magic ball. Watch closely."
As soon as he finished speaking, the space above Bell's palm distorted, and the magic ball disappeared. He then pointed at the feet of the two people, and the magic ball Apparition in the floor.
As Bell dissipated his magic, a smooth, semi-circular hole appeared beneath their feet.
"Gege is so amazing!"
Shanna watched in disbelief at the destruction caused by her Gege's Curses. Clearly, ordinary defensive Curses were ineffective against that attack.
"It's still far from perfect. There are still many problems to solve, such as casting speed, attack accuracy and range, and practicality. It's completely unusable in actual combat."
However, I want to say that because this Battle Robe can seal off space, any kind of spatial attack cannot directly hit our body.
At most, the enemy can only use Space Spell to redirect their attacks to our body surface. Then we can defend against them with defensive Curses.
Although Bell has never heard of anyone who can use spatial Curses to that extent, it's always better to be prepared.
Moreover, even in terms of defensive capabilities alone, the new Battle Robe he created is sufficient to defend against the Curses of elite Auror or the attacks of Muggle ' large-caliber sniper rifles.
Bell would do anything for Shanna's safety!
