What Elective Courses Should I Choose?
After that argument (?), Bell and Hermione's relationship quickly warmed up, to the point where they were inseparable, no matter how much free time they had.
If it weren't for the fact that their school uniforms were the wrong color, the Gryffindor Little Lions would have almost thought that their house had a new student.
Time flew by, and the Easter Holiday arrived in a warm and sweet atmosphere. The long-awaited holiday, however, also brought new conflicts between Bell and Hermione.
"Hermione, you really don't need to take all five courses. Putting aside Divination, why do you insist on taking Muggle Studies?"
Bell couldn't understand why Hermione, who was clearly Muggle-born, would choose to take Muggle Studies at Hogwarts.
What's the difference between this and a Britain going to India to learn English?
After a year of Muggle Studies, Hermione might not even know how to turn on the lights when she gets home. Muggle lights can't be activated with Wand.
"Because it would be very interesting to see Muggle things from a wizard's perspective."
Hermione analyzed it carefully.
"I'm not sure if you'll find it funny, but I know that as long as your brain doesn't malfunction, you'll definitely find it incredibly stupid!"
I can tell you with absolute certainty who that... who was that professor of Muggle Studies again?
Never mind, none of that matters.
In short, that professor certainly doesn't know as much about Muggle as you do. So instead of choosing Muggle Studies, you'd be better off buying a copy of the London Daily to kill time.
Bell is trying to change his girlfriend's inexplicable trust in wizards.
"But..."
"Alright, enough with the butts, let's talk about Divination now."
Bell, feeling utterly exhausted, didn't want to hear Hermione's countless "buts" anymore.
"Shouldn't we choose Divination? It can predict the future!"
Hermione was annoyed that her boyfriend had interrupted her. Putting aside the Muggle Studies, she was curious to hear what reason Bell would use to prevent her from taking Divination.
"Whether Divination can truly predict the future is something we should put aside for now. After all, the debate on this issue has been going on for hundreds or even thousands of years in the Magical World, and there is still no clear conclusion."
Hermione, have you ever unexpectedly foreseen something in the future? For example, something from a dream that later actually happened in real life. The similarity is fine.
Adhering to a rigorous scientific... magic approach, Bell decided to first confirm with his girlfriend.
Although he didn't believe at all that Hermione, who was born into Muggle family, could have the blood of a prophet.
Moreover, after so much time in contact with her, he had not seen any similar signs in Hermione.
"No, and besides, you basically forget everything that happens in your dreams after you wake up, right?"
Hermione suspected that Bell was deliberately making things difficult for her.
"That means you don't have the talent for Prophecy. And Divination is a discipline that relies entirely on talent; without talent, no matter how hard you try, it's useless."
"How could that be! If that were the case, why would Hogwarts offer a Divination course for us to choose from?"
Hermione questioned.
"Who knows? Maybe Dumbledore really did it all to raise his daughter?"
Of course, Bell only kept these thoughts to himself. If he dared to say them aloud, Hermione wouldn't let him off the hook.
It's worth noting that Hermione chose to attend Gryffindor House because she admired Dumbledore.
"Listen, Hermione. Even in the Magical World, Divination is one of the most mysterious disciplines."
There is no consensus among wizards regarding the origin of Divination.
Some believe that wizards' ability to foresee the future originates from the bloodline of ancient Magical Creatures.
Just like I told you before, Parselmouth originates from the bloodline of Magical Creatures, and it is an attempt by wizards to fuse bloodlines.
Others believe that the ability to foresee the future originates from lost Ancient Runes.
Some wizards used magic to inscribe Ancient Runes into their bloodlines, thus passing them down from generation to generation. Their idea was based on the existence of natural-born Legilimency and the Animagus could disguise themselves.
Regardless of the perspective, the only constant is that the ability to foresee is inherited and cannot be acquired through learning.
In fact, there are fewer and fewer wizards in the Magical World with prophetic bloodlines. Currently, there is only one known and definitively confirmed possessor of prophetic blood: the previous Dark Lord, Grindelwald.
(Most people considered Professor Trelawney a fraud. Even Professor McGonagall, a staunch Dumbledore, did not believe Trelawney possessed Prophecy abilities.)
"So, Bell, which view do you think is correct?"
Hermione asked curiously. She was now used to her boyfriend often having his own unique perspectives on things, and she also enjoyed Bell sharing his opinions with her.
"So aren't we discussing course selection right now?"
Although Hermione seemed to be going off-topic, Bell still satisfied his girlfriend's curiosity.
"I am the third type of person; I don't believe in the so-called prediction of the future at all."
"Alright, Hermione, let's continue discussing your course selection."
Bell steered the conversation back on track, preventing Hermione from asking any more questions.
"So, Hermione, give up on the idea of taking Divination. It's a real waste of time. You should spend your time on something more meaningful."
"Um... Ah! Bell, look, the weather is so nice today!"
"..."

So all his efforts were wasted?
Hermione lowered her head shyly. It wasn't that she didn't believe Bell, but she just wanted to try it out.
Bell also comes from the Pure-blood Wizarding Family. Perhaps his misunderstanding of Muggle Studies stems from his lack of understanding of Muggle?
Perhaps she also possesses the blood of a prophet?
Perhaps the ability to Divination can actually be learned, but the wizards of the past were not diligent enough?
Often, even when people know that some things are impossible or a waste of time, they can't shake off wishful thinking like, "Maybe I can do it." Hermione is currently being dominated by this wishful thinking.
"Sigh~!"
Bell sighed helplessly.
What could he do? He could only choose to forgive her! After all, the person in front of him was his girlfriend!
"Okay, then. Don't rush into choosing courses. Let's go see Professor McGonagall and tell her that you're not familiar enough with the content of the Elective Course, so you'd like to audit them first before making a decision. How about that?"
Would Professor McGonagall allow that kind of thing?
Hermione hesitated.
She also thought her boyfriend's idea was good. However, she had never heard of Hogwarts having such an arrangement as "audience sessions."
"Of course, Professor McGonagall is such a gentle person, how could she bear to refuse a student's reasonable request?"
Hearing Bell praise Professor McGonagall, Hermione nodded in agreement.
It's estimated that you won't find another Little Wizard in the entire Hogwarts who would agree with Bell's statement above.
