Plain People
"100 million? That's alright, not too expensive."
Bell nodded.
"But here I am..."
"No, no, no! It's not 100 million, it's... it's..."
Lin was so shocked by the number '100 million' that his whole body trembled.
Although at the beginning, his initial price target for Gundam was even more than 100 million.
However, his experience of setting up a stall over the past month has made him realize that his Gundam is not as good as he had imagined.
"Huh!? 1 billion? That definitely needs to be discussed."
Although 1 billion is still within Bell's acceptable range, Lin had previously said that if he thought it was too expensive, they could discuss it, so of course he would discuss it.
"No! No! It's, it's, it's 10 million."
Lin's dark, oil-stained face flushed a deep red, revealing just how excited he was.
"Dollar?"
"Japanese Yen!"
"Are you sure!? 10 million Japanese Yen, that's just for materials, right?"
Bell looked at Lin in surprise.
This was truly the first time he had ever encountered a merchant voluntarily lowering prices.
Are people all this simple and honest these days?
"Sure!"
Lin Jian nodded firmly.
All he wants now is to sell the Gundam. If it ends up being a liability, he's afraid he won't be able to handle it and will jump off the subway.
"In addition, the total cost of materials is actually 12 million Japanese Yen. I would be very grateful if you could give me an extra 2 million yen."
Lin looked at Bell with anticipation in her eyes.
"No!"
Bell waved his hand dismissively (in his own opinion).
"I said I'd give you 100 million, and that's it. If you try to bargain with me again, you're insulting me!"
That's right, Bell is such a down-to-earth person!
Lin was stunned for a moment before he realized what Bell had said.
And he truly lived up to his reputation as a simple and honest young man.
Lin didn't think Bell was stupid or rich at all. He held Bell's hand tightly, his eyes filled with tears and his voice trembling slightly.
"Be... Bell, you... you're such a good person. From now on, you're my best brother, Arakawa Rin! I... I... Waaah~!"
As she spoke, Lin couldn't hold back her tears and was moved to tears.
Only he himself knows how much pressure he has been under for the past month or so.
He felt so guilty whenever he saw the rapidly increasing gray hair at his parents' temples.
Seeing Lin crying like a child, Bell stopped pulling her hand away.
He patted Lin's shoulder twice, saying nothing, just quietly looking at him.
After a while, Lin finally calmed down. He wiped his tears with his oil-stained sleeve and felt very embarrassed.
The main reason was that Little Shanna, who was tilting her head and looking at him curiously, put a lot of psychological pressure on Lin.
It's really embarrassing to cry and wail in front of a teenage girl.
"Thank you, Bell. But really, you don't need that much. Just give me the cost of the materials."
"If you really consider me a brother, then stop haggling. And honestly, 100 million for your Gundam isn't expensive at all."
What was the most valuable thing in the 21st century... no, the 20th century? Talent!
Putting aside the fact that the Gundam is indeed worth 100 million, even if it were worthless, Arakawa Rin alone would be worth 100 million for Bell.
"Alright! Good brother! Since you put it that way, then I won't stand on Gege with you. If there's anything I can do to help Gege in the future, just let me know! If I can help, Gege definitely will; if I can't, Gege 'll find a way to help!"
"Don't worry, I won't hold back!"
"Hahaha~!" *2
The two, who had been chatting and laughing, couldn't help but burst into laughter, successfully reducing the already sparsely populated corner to just the two of them and Shanna, a total of three people.
What are those two doing?
"I asked the passerby."
"Don't look over there, mental illness is contagious."
Passerby B grabbed Passerby A and quickly left as if they were fleeing.
"Brother Lin, please wait a moment. I don't have enough money on me right now. I'll have my father bring some over."
After Bell sent a message to his father, the three people, who were not far away, quickly returned.
"Bell, what do you want to buy? You don't even have enough money on you?"
Upon seeing Bell, William immediately launched into a barrage of questions.
He knew that Bell had a considerable amount of money. Although he couldn't remember exactly how much, he was sure it wouldn't be insufficient.
Through this trip, William learned a valuable lesson: he must never take Bell on a trip again!
In just one month, Bell has spent more money than he has spent in the previous 10 years of his life!
If Bell is allowed to wander outside for another two months, he might squander all of the Bell's savings.
"This is it."
Bell pointed to the Gundam behind him.
"What?! You're actually planning to spend 100 million just to buy this piece of scrap metal?!"
William reached for his Wand. He realized that sometimes his wife's judgment was quite accurate; Bell just needed a good beating!
William swore that his only reason for wanting to discipline Bell was to stop his son's wasteful behavior. It was definitely not because his youngest daughter had been clinging to Bell the whole trip and hadn't played with him.
How could he, the patriarch of the Menethil Family, be the kind of person who would settle personal scores?
"Cough cough!"
Bell coughed forcefully twice and gave a subtle look to Lin, who was standing to the side.
The seller was still there, and Bell was a little embarrassed that his own father was so loudly belittling their product.
Fortunately, Lin had never been a good student since childhood, and he had never passed English, so he didn't understand what William was saying at all.
Otherwise, this honest and simple man would probably want to crawl into a hole in the ground and disappear.
Although he couldn't understand English, Lin could still see the obvious dissatisfaction on William's face.
"Bell, maybe we should just forget about it. Don't let me affect your relationship with your family."
Lin tried to persuade him again.
"No need. Brother Lin, don't worry about it, I can handle it."
Just kidding, how can anyone else influence the relationship between Bell and his own father?
Bell really wanted to see who, and how, could influence his relationship with his father and improve it.
The conflict between him and his father is simply irreconcilable!
Seeing Bell and his father engaged in a heated exchange in English, Lin couldn't understand what they were saying, but he could sense the deep affection between them from Bell's actions.
Lin was moved once again.
Lin felt that the loneliness and grievances he felt in the first half of his life, being treated as a weirdo and ostracized by his classmates, must have been a test given to him by God.
All for the sake of meeting his good brother, Bell Grylls, today!
