There had been a reason Dumbledore allowed Hagrid to raise Acromantulas in the Forbidden Forest back then.

A nest of Acromantulas not only gave the centaurs something to do, keeping them from sitting around all day with nothing to do but overthink, but also sealed away Hagrid's terrifying talent.

After all, the Forbidden Forest was only so large. With its space occupied by Acromantulas and centaurs, Hagrid naturally had no room to toss in other dangerous creatures.

Otherwise, given Hagrid's obsession with experimentation—enough to crossbreed disgusting creatures like Blast-Ended Skrewts—it would not have been strange at all if he one day released a nest of Basilisks into the Forbidden Forest.

So, the fact that many centaurs were hostile toward Hagrid and even wanted to drive him out of the Forbidden Forest was not entirely without reason.

Unfortunately, the Forbidden Forest was ultimately Hogwarts's Forbidden Forest, not the centaurs'. As Hogwarts's Keeper of Keys and Grounds, Hagrid was not someone the centaurs could drive out just because they wanted to.

Although the centaurs had claimed the entire Forbidden Forest as their territory, they rarely came to places near its edge like this.

For one thing, there was really nothing worth patrolling here. Just a few birds—what was there to watch?

For another, most centaurs were rather averse to wizards and did not want to be seen by Hogwarts students.

If other centaurs had discovered Bell and the others, they would most likely have hidden in the woods and watched their every move until they left the Forbidden Forest.

Firenze, however, was one of the few moderates among the centaurs. That was why he had shown himself and
