What If We Can't Break Its Defense?

After working at it for half the day, Bell and the others had dealt less damage to the Elemental Lord than it had dealt itself with that single slap. Seeing this, Bell became even more determined not to let it land a hit.

"This is... downright cheating!"

Watching the Elemental Lord's absurd maneuver in the distance, Bell felt his teeth ache.

It turned out that after falling to the ground, the Elemental Lord had not tried to get back up. Instead, its body wriggled and shifted, changing from a horizontal position into a standing one.

Bell's plan to keep using its own force against it and make it stay down a while longer had completely fallen through.

"How are you?"

While the Elemental Lord still needed some time to complete its transformation, Bell turned to Yomi beside him.

Yomi was not in good shape. Her face was pale as paper, utterly bloodless, and more importantly, ice was visibly spreading upward from her lower body.

"I'm fine."

As she spoke, Yomi swung the long blade in her hand and, without hesitation, cut across her thighs, severing both legs.

They were in the middle of a tense battle; she had no time to slowly dispel the ice from her body. Compared to that, directly cutting off her legs and using the power of the Killing Stone to regenerate them consumed much more strength, but it saved a great deal of time.

"Uh... don't push yourself too hard."

Bell's eyelid twitched. He pressed his left hand against the small of Yomi's back, converting Magic Power into heat and sending it into her body to drive away the remaining chill within her.
